I work as a civil engineer/drafter for a small engineering company. We deal with storage handling (i.e. storage racks, gondolas, cantilevers, shelving units, etc.)

TaKun782 posted...
would you recommend pursuing it?

I think civil engineering as a whole is a solid field to go into. Even within the civil engineering field there's several sub fields to go into (i.e. structural, geotech, water, and transportation). Of course depending on whether you work in the private sector or public sector, the work can be very different.''

Hell, even in fast food restaurants I find it awkward when workers take away my trash and food tray. Makes me feel like a child. Some definitions I've heard of sci fi specify that it's thematically about examining the effect of science and technology on a society or philosophy or what have you. That significantly narrows the definition though.

I've read/heard of that definition as well which does narrow down the sci-fi genre quite a bit then. Still, it is not going to ruin my day when something is labelled as sci-fi or fantasy "incorrectly".

They make you pay extra for reserved seating? The more I hear the more I think Marcus is above average. All seating is reserved and has been for several years.

Depends on the location I think. For the theaters I've been to around Los Angeles County, reserve seats and first-come-first-serve seats are about the same price. Most of the theaters with reserve seats uses recliners now instead of the typical seats.

My local theater reduced the number of seats per room to maybe half and made them all into recliner. Overall I think the changes have been for the better. I can buy my ticket hours or days ahead and not worry about getting the good seats or waiting in line. I don't care about the comfort of the seats but to my friends it make for a better experience.

I'd imagine most people have their personal stance on how illegal something is when they or something else is breaking the law and whether or not it should be reported.

Take for example speeding. Technically it is illegal but most people do it without repercussion. Some I'd imagine let their family members drink at a family party even if they're minors. Hell, how many folks have even driven while buzz. Of course it can get as severe as stealing, domestic abuse, or murder at which point I'd imagine even some family members might be hard pressed on reporting it.

I wouldn't consider people who report undocumented people as bad nor would I consider it good either. Are they, the one doing the reporting, following the law in the scenario, yes. Are they potentially ruining the lives of a family who may be guilty of nothing more than entering the country illegally, yes. As some have suggested, something being lawful is not the same as being morally good. Slavery at one point in this country was lawful. Discrimination at one point was lawful. Ironically I was thinking of the idea to judge yourself before you judge others. Ironically I was thinking of the idea/statement to judge yourself before you judge others.

As for knowing when a quest is done, usually the NPC will have no more further conversation in regards to the quest once it is over. The wording within the quest log sometimes implies said quest is done.

I chose giving the money to those in Africa as I feel it is more possible to reduce the number of stray pets than fixing the issues in Africa. Giving money to both are just bandage treatments and bigger reform must be done for long term affects.

I did a quick check on Google and seems most of the blame for stray pets is on the owners for any number of reasons. Lost the pets, pets weren't neutered, owners losing interest, etc.

Perhaps people need to be more realistic about the responsibility of owning a pet and not purchase a puppy or kitten on a whim just because their children want one. Speaking of which, could reducing the number of licensed breeder help in anyway along with incentives to adopt pets instead of buying from a breeder?

I know some folks sees pets as just commodity and not family but this is a life that you are bringing into your home and one that will depend on you. Abandoning said pet just because you've grown bored is simply wrong.

I think I paid $400ish once to get my car back. I parked at what I thought to be a market's loading area around 1am thinking at that hour no one will be working. Unfortunately for me it was actually an apartment parking lot. I think it was only more expensive because I was trying to get it back during their afterhours.

It was a good lesson for me to not take any ol parking spot just because I think no one is using it. Annoyingly enough, the actual parking lot for the restaurant I was at was just across the street and had plenty of room. Me being lazy and thinking at 1am no one will miss that spot, didn't bother to move it back.

Seems a friend of mine was on the receiving end of some not so friendly remarks for being a Mexican-American. If it matters he was born in California. From what I've been told someone interrupted his dinner at some restaurant, asked if he (my friend) is Mexican, and then went on a rant about how his children were denied opportunities because of Affirmative Action. I do not know if said person randomly picked out my friend or just thought my friend looked well off. My friend works as a structural engineer for Southern California Edison for the past several years.

Southern California being rather diverse, I don't think Affirmative Action have ever crossed my mind. I myself am Chinese-American, born in California as well, and I never thought about whether or not I was accepted into my college of choice because of Affirmative Action. My high school grades weren't the best with a GPA of 2.8 or 3.0ish but the school I went into, Cal Poly Pomona, wasn't exactly top end either at the time I applied. I was heavily involved with sports, volunteering events, our music program, and took all the AP and Honor classes I qualified for. At the very least I know the job I have now is more due to a Boy Scouts leader referring me than anything else.

Do you feel the opportunities you've been denied/granted in life has been due to Affirmative Action?

Comments and opinions are appreciated,

Thank you

At the very least it should be an option with only high profile websites making it a requirement. I can see it being a potential inconvenience for users but from the service end, if it means less resources spent on handling lost/forgotten passwords or compromised accounts, it is probably worth it.

I wish more sites would let me use a simple password.

Kinda the opposite for me. I was updating the password for a life insurance website and the password was limited to 12 characters. My passwords on average are 16 characters long with numbers and capital letters. What bugged me about that website though was when changing it I had to use a minimum of 18 characters but for some odd reason when logging in, the password window was limited to 12 characters. Their IT department eventually resolved that issue.

I just want websites to be consistent across the board on what can or cannot be used. Some allows symbols while some don't. Of those that allow symbols, some requires it and some don't.

9/10 for me.

I loved it. I thought it was a pop culture reference overload that surprisingly didn't seem to distract you from the "meat" of the movie. I could't stop laughing at The Shining reference and was already laughing the moment I saw the bouncing ball after Aech mentioned he/she never seen it and asked if it's scary.

I actually liked how the movie lightly touched on gaming addiction and how some people have killed themselves over games and/or neglected their family due to a game. I don't think the movie was trying to send a message with those few seconds of reference but I thought simply including it got some point across.

It really varies for me. I could drop $50-60 on a game that my friends and I co-oped through for 50-100 hours and I would feel I got my money's worth. I could then spend $5-10 on some indie game that provided the same number of hours of fun and I'll see feel I got my money's worth.

Who knew standing around would get you hit!

Is the state of invincibility still in the game? I never could force myself to not immediately get back up in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on the 3DS instead of waiting till the coast is clear.

I'm no expert, but that's not never.

My mistake. Up until that game of chess I have never cursed in front of my college friends. Carelessly losing that queen was the first.

But yeah, I tend to mess up in the early or middle, but I do fine in the late when there are few pieces left.

I might be the same. I think when I have less pieces to keep track of and less pieces to work it, it it easier for me to focus and be mindful of what I do.

Yup. I've been playing Final Fantasy Brave Exvius pretty regularly but spent no more than $7 for the in-game money. I've been having fun with the game though so might put more money in later just to support the developers. Hopefully I control myself as I have read some folks dropping $300+ on one character.
