Congress dropping the impeachment had nothing to do with Nixon getting pardoned. Impeachment only strips the person of their position, since Nixon was no longer a President they couldn't stripe that from him.

They are already set. They have been set for years and years. The only job the road repair workers in Michigan have and any outside company they could hire (if not illegal) is to meet those standards.

There's standards for most everything. Want to build a house? There's electrical standards, concrete standards, wood standards, water standards, carpet standards, ceramic standards. Not to mention you need inspections several times, usually for each trade.

Someone reports a pothole to the city. The city puts this on their database of repairs to make. The next morning when they go to dispatch people they give a group of a few guys a pothole to fix. they go fix the pothole and report back that they fixed it.

They can send out a guy to look at it if they want. They can look at a picture the foreman of the repair team took and look at it. They can wait to see if there's complaints that the pothole is back. There's any number of ways for them to verify it.

So like Anarchy_Juiblex your plan is to ask people to be honest about the pothole repairs, and hope nothing goes wrong afterwards.

Plenty of roads have speed above 20mph. Furthermore people should be paying attention to the road and avoid potholes or going around them, or slowing down as they come to them. If the pothole appears to have ben reqpaired they might not do so and get in a crash because of that.

Right because there is currently a rash of illegally filled potholes as it is now and loosening the regulars will only make them worse . . .

If the current law requires that only MDOT repair anyone that repairs potholes and isn't MDOT is a criminal that can be arrested. If all in takes in future is to register it online it makes it much easy to fake.

You didn't answer by question at all. I asked how they set the set the standard and enforce it, and you answer was basically "by setting a standard and enforcing it."

they say to fix a pot hole properly you have to do X, Y, Z, and make sure the repair is level with the road. Did they do X, Y, and Z and make sure it was level? If yes, job done. If no, they didn't fix it.

How do you make sure they do that? Ask them, and hope they don't lie? Have someone come along, and make sure they do all the steps?

The standard is already set, the question is enforcement. Like I said, register online so there's a trail on who did the repairs then if there's an issue, they can look into it. I don't think neighborhood streets are mission critical. A DIY is going to be fine most of the time.

So basically cross your fingers, hope nobody dies, and if someone does die arrest whoevers responsible? Also hope nobody lies when registering online, or refuses to register.

I don't know what the law is, but I'd assume it's intent is to ensure the roads aren't repaired to by a shit standard.

A town realizes hey, each telephone pole in town (there's thousands) needs this item installed on it. The city says, we have a union of guys, city workers, who are trained on doing this, who can install these. A random guy says, my company can help and cut the time in half!

The city starts using their guys, but not the random dude's guys, to install these items. The problem is they start falling behind. Random guy shows back up again and says "seriously, my guys are still available to help!"

The union bosses say hey, we can't have him these other guys coming in helping, it will mean less work for our union guys. Hey city, pass a law saying that only city employees can install these things. So they do.

Now they are behind but they are the only ones that can install it.

I dunno, that's a half assed example, sorry if it makes things murkier.

Edit: This may not be the same as the MDOT group, but it's to give an idea of how a law would give Union guys guaranteed work. Except in their case it's potholes that will never be completely eradicated. There will always be new potholes.

It sounds like you are really try to push something you have no actual claim for, espically since the city worker law doesn't require the city workers be unionised.

I don't know the in's and out's of that exact Union but I would imagine it is the group for many types of state government workers. Probably down to typists and shit. But the union is only for state government workers.

video evidence, DNA evidence, and a witness.

So what kind of DNA evidence do they need? What do the witnesses have to have witnessed, and how do they have to have witnessed it? What video evidence do they need?

or let's say "red handed", like if an active shooter is apprehended. Not sure what evidence they have to produce in court, I guess powder residue, murder weapons on their person, multiple witnesses including the police, etc etc etc I'm sure that's stuff they cover in the trial.

Having evidence like that is incredible rare, and would only happen a few times a year.
