These are big reasons. Other reasons are due to the level of precision needed to get it done. If you want a pure mechinical device you are look at seriously precious measurements of metals and volume which weren't really a thing until the late 1700's, 1800s, and a few like Babbage's were designed in the 1800's. It'd also be hugely expensive giving the shear amount of metals you'd need to get even a scaled down version of the device in the video, and then there's the problem of getting all the energy to power it as well.

Electromechanical computers are easier but if you look at when electrification, which was around the mid 1880's and compare it to when the "first electromechanical computer" were made in the late 1930's and 1940's you are really looking at around 50 years. All the parts you needed were also quite big and hard to fit inside small places until transisters were made in the 1940's.

They kept getting small until you got integrated circuits in the 1970's, which were loads of transisters put together. Since transisters kept getting smaller you could put more in an integrated circuit which meant integrated circuits could get smaller and more powerful until you could have them fit in a home and then a pocket.

Not true in regards to UK age of consent laws. If you reasonably believe someone to be 16 or older, and they are between 13 and 16, it is not a crime to have sex with them. That is why the article say if she was a few months older the perpetrator would have a good defence. It's only when the victim is under 13 years old when the perpetrator's believe doesn't matter, which is why the man was found guilty in this case.

Your argument, in the OP, is basically "The law say people have to do x to immigrate to the US, so that's what they have to do". While that's a fine argument from a current legal perspective, none of the people you are talking to are using a current legal perspective.

In fact nobody arguing for immigration reform, whether they want to make it harder or easier to immigrate to the US, is going to argue from a current legal perspective. Since the point of immigration reform is to change how immigration law works.

Frankly TC the argument you presented here,is no better than their argument.

Riley v California was a 2014 case that reached SCOTUS.

Riley vs California means they can't search your phone if they arrest you, unless they get a warrant to search the phone. The current case means they can't get phone data from the company without a warrant.

At my job we were told all we could ask is if the animal is a service animal. That was it. If we asked anything more than that we were told it could lead to us being sued.

If your job is in the US they should replace their HR department as they don't know what they are doing.

Also told us the dog did not need the vest as it means absolutely nothing.

They don't need a vest but they need to be leased, or have something similar, unless the disabled person can't use them.

No they can't.

Emotional support animals need to be approved by a licensed medical professional. Whoever has one needs to be prepared to show documation explaining that. The doctumentation doesn't need to explain why the animal is needed, but it does need to say that the animal is needed according to the licensed medical professional.

Serivce animals need to be trained to do a task for the owner and the owner must be prepared to tell the business what that task is. Furthermore unless the owner's unable to do so the animal must be on a lease, or similar device.

Also in either case if the animal is causing problems they can be kicked off, although obviously you can't do that on a plane, so they'd be caged.
