I think it's more open and sort of "do what you want" that way, rather than the more structured setup you're talking about. I wouldn't enjoy it as much if I felt like I HAD to dance right now because that's what's going on and it's not going to last long.

Fair enough, but the same argument could be made for the east coast ones as well. When there's a dance set going on, you don't HAVE to dance. Generally there's different genres of themes per set, so if it happens to be music you don't really care about, you can go sit down, mingle, talk, etc while other people do dance.

I never realized the difference until me and my fiancee started working on our wedding reception timeline.

Notably, I've lived in New York my whole life. Here, wedding receptions alternate between short dance sets followed by breaks for dinner, other food, events, etc... It goes back and forth the entire reception.

This is compared to the Midwest where they do a full three course meal, toasts, bouquet toss, etc, all banged out in like an hour and a half, followed by like 3 hours of "open dance floor".

I might be biased but I prefer the NY style since 3 hours of dancing without a break is a lot lol.

I think what happens with people like this is that when they first take on the lifestyle of leeching money from their family, they're like "This is great. I sit on my computer all day and do nothing and my family gives me money."
But then you never hear all the bad endings from them because when they inevitably do get the plug pulled on them (be it by family choosing to cut them off, or by something tragic happening to the family) the NEET kid in question ends up homeless and no longer has the financial means to brag on reddit about how they don't need to work.

I know a lot of these are YMMV territory, but I personally didn't have much of an issue with the motion controls. I think in two full games, we only played like 3 motion control games tops, and even then they were actually pretty great as far as motion games go.
As far as the number of turns, I assume they took out 30 and 50 because they weren't very popular. A lot of people already complain about the games taking too long, so I can't blame them; a 10 turn game already takes like an hour to complete in this one lol. (Though I guess it doesn't make sense to leave the option out for the few people who do want it)

I definitely agree though, Stars costing 10 coins instead of 20 is insanity. Makes it way too easy for everyone to get them.

This is so refreshing. I remember when Mario Party was annualized in the mid 2000s and most of them were at bare minimum good. I miss those days, since Mario Party was just this known quantity/comfort food game where you knew exactly what you were getting. And then they went and fucked it up for a full decade.

Like, it feels really fucking great to be playing a Mario Party game again and enjoying it.

Like yeah duh, basically every game is better enjoyed with friends in local multiplayer. Shouldn't mean that no one can enjoy it online if they want to try.

Like, why not just let the people who want to play party games like Mario Party and Kirby and stuff online actually do it, and all the lucky party people with nonstop friends like Nintendo commercials can still do that. The two don't have to be mutually exclusive.

I think in Smash Bros is where it bothers me the most. Like, the devs spent years and millions of dollars creating this roster of like 50+ characters, and then there's people like my cousin who but the game just to exclusively play Samus lol.

DKC3 gets props for blending open-ended adventure elements into a platformer.

Like, it was really cool jumping into the game and having the ability to go to different areas, collect items for sidequest and stuff, instead of just going on a straight line through the game like most world maps.
