HAMPTON, N.H. (CBS/AP) A man accused of kicking a seagull that tried to eat his cheeseburger at a New Hampshire beach has been fined $124.

Police investigated the report from a bystander at Hampton Beach earlier this summer.

The New Hampshire Union Leader reports the man, 33-year-old Nate Rancloes, said he had just returned from getting a cheeseburger and fries and was sitting on the sand. He said seagulls got to the burger, and he spun around with his leg to shoo one away, but struck the bird. He said it was a simple mistake.

I dont think there was any culpable mental state in what he did, Fish and Game Lt. Michael Eastman told the newspaper.

A witness said it appeared the birds leg was injured and that it struggled to fly away.

Eastman said seagulls are protected under federal law.

What does "premium upgrade" mean?

IMAX, Real3D, etc.

From what I read, the "two 2D tickets" reset every billing cycle, but premium upgrade resets every 30 days since the last time you used it. So technically, you will lose at least one "upgrade" for the last month you stay on with Sinemia.

Hexenherz posted...
I just have no faith in something like this after seeing what happened to MoviePass. I was already really doubtful that MoviePass would even endure (and it didn't).

The difference is that Sinemia lowered prices to get people. From my limited searching, Sinemia charged "normal" prices (~$20-30/mo) for the subscription, but lowered it to compete with MoviePass. I assume after MoviePass finally goes under, they'll raise the prices.

I bought a sleep number bed a couple years ago. Not a model that adjusts, but I have no regrets.

Is it actually good? Or is the whole "sleep number" a gimmick? This thing is apparently supposed to adjust the number based on how much you're tossing and turning.

I'm also wondering how the "split" of the bed will feel when you're lying in the middle.

How can a bed cost so much? Did Trump pee on it or something?

She says it's not the most expensive one (and she's right; Sleep Number sells an "i10" version that's slightly more expensive than this, and TempurPedic beds are also around this price range apparently).

Under current law, locality pay increases averaging 25.70 percent, costing $25 billion, would go into effect in January 2019, in addition to a 2.1 percent across-the-board increase for the base General Schedule.

I have determined that for 2019, both acrosstheboard pay increases and locality pay increases will be set at zero.

insurance is such a scam

My personal favorite is how home insurance doesn't cover you in the event of flood, fire, tornado, etc. What the hell is it for then? If your home just spontaneously falls down?

Home insurance certainly covers you for fire. But does not cover you for flood or other perils unless you add it or have a non-perils based policy.

If you're hopping from town to town every couple days, what do you do with your luggage? Go to the hotel after you arrive, drop off, then go sightseeing every time?

Eh, unlike the US, cars are not the focus and public transportation is much much better and easier to get around with.

Agreed in like a place like Tokyo, but outside of that, isn't it just country-like? How would you get from the train station to sights and/or hotels? Seems really inconvenient.

JR Pass

Explain please.

It's a little pricey, but if you're going to do a lot of traveling it's worth it. If you're going to stay in Osaka, then I'd say nevermind actually. A 7 day pads is like $260 and the 14 day is $411.

It's just something you use to get on trains. So long as the train is part of the JR line you can get in it as many times as you need. It also covers the bullet trains if they're part of the JR line. Which a 1 way ticket can cost you upwards of $70 when traveling long distances.

If you're going to explore the country then you definitely get your bang for your buck. If it's just the city than perhaps pass.

At those prices, why would you pay for a JR pass over renting a car? Luggage and everything would be annoying with trains.
