Most reactions I'm seeing seem to be positive

The consensus seems to be it's not the best movie of the saga but is certainly the best of the trilogy and hits a lot of good story/emotional beats and does a fair job ending everything

Regular criticism I've heard was that it feels "stuffed" and that the plot is "video game-y"

I've seen a lot of hostile takes on the movie, and this is the first time that I'm hearing about storytelling and emotional Beats. I'm not sure if that says more about the quality of the movie, or the quality of the discourse.

Disregarding the degree of entitlement it takes to literally complain about a movie, it doesn't even look like a valid criticism. It just looks like people picked some other popular movie franchise and decided to make it a buzzword they can lob at whatever they decide not to like.
Its inherently lazy and dishonest, intended to muddle rather than clarify. That's not how criticism works, and its not even a good dunk on the movies.

Nah. In 99% of RPGs the final boss doesn't demand you look up ultra-perfect setups on the internet while the rest of the game is slightly challenging at best

That's more of a design flaw in older RPGs than in this game.

Anyway, it took me three tries to figure out the best set up, and I never looked up a guide until later (their set up was different from mine; also the wolf gave me a harder time). The only real annoyance for me was having to beat the eight guys again beforehand. I'm not bragging or anything, and it was frustrating as fuck, but I do think all games' final bosses should be the ultimate challenge and push the player's knowledge of the mechanics in a similar fashion.

The difficulty spike of the final boss is perfect. Its the last boss, it should be near impossible unless you've mastered the game. Of course, the tedium of fighting the eight bosses over again is a real flaw, but by that point you should be able to stomp them anyway, so its more annoyance than challenge.

I tend to lose interest when people start bringing up backstage drama, which is A.) boring and B.) almost always wrong anyway. Also C.) not criticism of the content of the movie.

I watched Endgame on Friday, and the suggestion that these movies are cinema sets off alarms in my head. Not because it was "bad", but because every moment of it felt like something pretending to a movie in order to leap out and eat me when I let my guard down. Its like the uncanny cinematic valley.

There should probably be more focus on anthropology, to be honest. The study of history tells us a lot about how political leaders and warmongers fucked shit up, but there's far too little focus on how people actually lived. Which, obviously, has far more relevance and even usefulness to most people, because they're not politicians and shouldn't strive to be.

IMDb is a perfect example of this. It seems like almost every review of the film is negative on the site, almost certainly the first two or three dozen that you'll see, and it has way more reviews than the force awakens. But you don't have to review a movie to rate it on that site. It may have way more reviews than the force awakens, but it has far fewer user ratings, and the negative ratings are still very much in the minority. The regular users of that website, which has a much larger user base than Rotten Tomatoes, simply cannot be overwhelmed by the hate campaign, even if the campaign makes itself very well-known.

Its pretty obvious that the majority of the nastier criticisms leveled against the movie don't hold up to scrutiny. Its just a lot easier to believe that fascists or whoever are chiefly behind a phony hate campaign, than it is to believe that all the mean spirited horse's asses were already mean spirited horse's asses, and that the fascists are just riding them.
