| AlisLandale 12/20/19 9:50:51 AM #13 | What I love about this is the chaos it creates. The narrative defending TLJ was that the haters simply review bombed it and were a vocal minority. But now the audience score shoots up. You can say "nerds love the shitty nostalgia", thereby validating user scores and admitting that people didn't like TLJ, or you can say "user scores don't matter", whereby you lose any argument of hypocrisy against TLJ's detractors. And those same detractors who use user scores to trash on TLJ can either stand by them, thereby validating RoS as a good movie, or ignore them, and lose their evidence that audiences hated the movie. It's a glorious shitshow worthy of the Star Wars fandom. <_< --- |

Like, I was 9 when the show came out so I understood what they were saying, but it just never occurred to me that they were supposed to be funny. I took all that shit seriously lol. Like, at the end when they're fighting Apocalymon, I remember he said "I am complete with hot and cold water!" And as a kid, I was just like, "what's the significance of the hot and cold water?" After he was going on about being this collective of dead data, I figured it was some deep metaphorical thing, like, maybe referencing the River Styx or something. But nope, I guess the dub writers were just taking time out of the dramatic finale to make fun of the red and blue tubes coming out of his crotch. >_> Gonna see where this goes. The lack of the Saban score is kind of jarring at first, but so far I'm digging the more understated background music. --- |

I have less than 2 GB of free space at any given time, and Microsoft wants at least 5 to update. So everyday Id get a system pop-up telling me to free up space, even though I could uninstall every program besides windows updates and still not have the disco space they want. Theyd fail to update, Id close the pop-up, and move on with my life. Well two days ago I decided to do some housecleaning on my computers. I managed to delete/backup everything I didnt need and now all my folders are organized and pretty. Alas, like Icarus, I flew too close to the sun. See, although the system pop-ups on this smol laptop were easily dismissed, they were intrusive and annoying. So I decided to get the update so Windows could feel good about itself. and now has begun a 48 hour struggle searching for every possible way to get this stupid update done, with every solution turning up two new problems. My hard drive has fluctuated between 200 MB and 4.99 GB free space as I tried managing this malarkey, but I always come up short. I am a modern Sisyphus, and Windows Version 1903 is my boulder. --- |

The creature had multiple times showed himself to be a gentle, friendly, and compassionate being, only to be violently attacked and driven away by everyone around him. IIRC it was the blind mans family that was the final straw. He finally befriended someone who saw him for who he really was, and couldnt judge him based on his appearance, only to have that taken from him when the mans able bodied son came home. After that, he killed Frankensteins niece or cousin or whatever. By the time the monster demands a bride be made, sure, it seems the doctor should just comply to pacify the him. But the doctors concerns were legitimate. Even if he was at fault for the original abandonment, theres no telling what kind of personality the bride would have, if shed be complacent as the monsters partner, if she would become even worse after being rejected by the world, etc. I totally sympathize with him breaking down in what would seem like a no-win situation. At the end of the day, I think its short-sighted to blame the creatures turn on any one factor. It was society as a whole that failed the creature. And thats what makes the story so interesting and tragic. Its a cycle of fear and hatred that creates the monsters of the world and fuels each others violence. >_> --- |

The bulk of the blame still goes to Abrams and his bullshit nostalgia wankery in TFA, and regressive world building like If any of his morally ambiguous "the good guys fuck up, the bad guys aren't all bad, kill the past, but really don't" meandering actually has something to say about this story or any of the characters, it might have been decent. But every single character TLJ is bullshit, and Rian Johnson's approach to "mature" subjects has about as much depth as a Zack Snyder film. --- |
