Episodic is bad because Square has not shown they can be trusted with an episodic game. Partly because most of their other recent games have been duds, partly because their release schedule for those games have been a tragedy, but mostly because, again, they DONT KNOW how many parts its going to be. There is zero reason to have faith in an episodic franchise that doesnt have some roadmap. its one thing for the number of episodes to be expanded after the fact because they underestimated deadlines or development. Its one thing to condense and shorten the amount of episodes for budget reasons. Its an entirely other galaxy of incompetence to say yeah we have no fucking clue --- |

Expanding on midgar isnt inherently bad, as that was easily the best set piece in the original, but, in context of modern SE, in context of how theyve angst-wanked the FF7 property into a parody of what was already a quite silly game, and in the context of the title being episodic, and in the context of them stating that they dont have a plan for how many parts the story will ultimately be divided into, and in the context of a five minute tutorial boss being expanded into a boring, half-hour long chip damage spam epic set piece, things do not look bright. Its not much of a time investment to just see how it ends. And I can at least enjoy tearing it apart from an informed perspective. But I skipped Solo, havent subbed to Disney Plus for the Mandorian, and have no interest in anything that had been announced for the franchise up to this point. Unless someone specifically invites me to watch with them, Im not going out of my way to watch Star Wars movies anytime soon. >-> --- |

Why is anyone not abusing warps and starting each dungeon at the beginning of an inverted cycle? The side quests to open them are usually long enough that youre probably thinking about resetting anyway. The only time a dungeon should run you close to the end is if youre blindly looking for the optional fairy fragments. A lot of common complaints just should not be a problem for anyone who actually tries. >_> He does bring up good points about the punishment for failure though. This is one of my GOAT games and even then thereve been times I had to turn it off because I was getting mad lol. But I actually like it for stuff like the Cremia quest because it just feels so satisfying to succeed, and theres only a few like that. --- |
