It's worth pointing out for those who aren't going to actually read the article that this wasn't a black student requesting leniency from the professor due to hardships. This was a bunch of white students asking that the professor to grade black students differently in light of everything going on.

It's also worth pointing out that this was an online-only class and the professor had no idea what race anybody was.

He actually makes a good point though. We've seen several of these large, concert-esque gatherings such as protests and giant gatherings here at Toronto a few weeks ago (Trinity Bellwoods if anyone is from Toronto here) and not only did we not see a spike in cases because of it but actually our cases are dropping like a rock here and the lowest since mid March. I'm thinking we should be easing restrictions on many more things.

Remember everyone, heat kills coronavirus.

It reduces the half life of the virus on surfaces dramatically along with UV rays, humidity etc

It's not going to protect you if you're in a large group congregating around people for an extended period of time, or indoors with close contact to people for a long period of time, which is how the virus is spreading.

I did a student internship at a hydro company years ago and they would just turn the power off. Sometimes the homeowner assaulted them and shit.

As a cop Id love to see all law enforcement just quit. Then communities can do their own thing. Police each other. Id be interested to see what someone would do when someone is a victim of a serious crime. Better call the local HOA to figure it out!

What a joke. Utter chaos. It would fail.

You can just ask the criminals nicely to stop using your identity to take out lines of credit and to stop robbing and murdering people. Because everyone is friends without the police around now they'll understand and there won't be anymore crime.

Maybe the virus is getting weaker. The first SARS in 2003 did the same thing - health experts predicted it coming back with a vengeance in the fall that year but it just sort of died out. We'll see what happens. A lot of doom and gloom predictions on the virus were made very early.

Its funny seeing how posters on both sides of the Corona argument flip flopped their opinions over the last week.

I noticed the same people on here who were in favor of excessive and gratuitous lock down periods (e.g. everything closed except grocery stores until there's a vaccine, no leaving your house more than once a week for the next 18 months etc) are the same people cheering on and supporting the mass rioting

Your current location isn't so essential to your life that you couldn't move. I was just looking at houses for sale in texas and you find a brick house with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathroom 2600+ soft, backyard with a pool, 3 car garage, etc for $345,000 in Katy, Tx. Katy, Tx being roughly 30 miles from Houston.

That is hardly the middle of nowhere and you'll get a much better quality of living than a one bedroom condo for $550,000.

I live in Canada. It's not the same as the states. You either live in a ridiculously expensive urban area (there's 3 of them) or you live in the middle of fucking nowhere.

My city has 10% of the population of Canada in it. My province has 50% of the population.
