Coronavirus task force/CDC release reopening criteria: "If you meet this criteria where your cases and hospitalizations decline for 2-4 weeks you can start gradually reopening things in phases"

Yep - I watched that whole conference at the time it aired. That Trump blunder was a 15 second sound bite out of an otherwise informative press conference including the CDC commenting on the half life of the virus under different conditions.

When I was watching these back in March/April there was a real effort and sincerity on the part of the task force. Today they just looked like they phoned it in and said "don't worry it's just these damn millennials and we've got a ventilator to put down your throat after we put you in a medically induced coma if you do get sick" even Birx was saying that shit.

It's only at its "highest ever" because we're doing more testing. It's likely been worse, but we didn't know about it. And, as that one study in NY found, the scale of infections is far higher than anybody suspects because most people who were shown to have had it got over it easily (ie, the vast majority of cases, a person may have had it without even realizing so not everybody is spending time in the ICU).

Nah man. Hospitals are reaching capacity in some places. Texas, Florida is shitting their pants right now begging people not to act like dumb fucks.

Anyway, I'm In Canada where the cases are much lower, so I'm not scared to go outside but I'm still not flaunting social distancing rules etc and still being responsible with distancing, not crowding in groups, hand washing, social circles, wearing a mask where you can't distance indoors etc.

Compare this to the states where the cases are growing exponentially, hospitals are being overrun and people still aren't following public health advice.

We should put some emphasis on personal responsibility even if you've got guys like the Florida governor, Trump etc. Why do you need to pack into crowded bars, shoulder to shoulder with other people in big groups for extended periods of time during a pandemic? Why did Djokovic need to hold a tennis event where they had giant group photos/events with kids, wild drunken after parties indoors etc? Why couldn't they just play tennis without the other stuff? Where's the personal responsibility?

See - here you go again. You shouldn't go around thinking a plain cloth mask will protect you from being infected, you should actually know why you're using the mask, what it does and do it with an informed purpose, which in this case is to help prevent your germs from infecting other people when you can't distance safely. If you don't know why you're doing it you get into problems where you flaunt the other and more important public health advice because you feel invincible because you're wearing a plain cloth mask.

No man with what's going on in the USA that's my biggest worry. But it turns out I recently found out people from the USA have apparently been coming here all along, so I'm not sure what effect it will have. If the vast majority of people here are practicing public health measures these people don't have many places to spread it anyway.

Only should be restarted if it can be done safely

Examples. They had an exhibition tennis tournament in France with social distancing rules, masks, gathering limits etc. No infections. Djokovic's tournament held at the same time with no social distancing, no masks, drunken wild parties, huge groups and gatherings with no distancing. 4 confirmed players got covid.

I dunno man. I was watching those conferences daily because I was concerned about covid here in Canada and was getting a lot of good information from Fauci, Birx etc. They all seemed to be trying hard then to stop the spread then one day just said fuck it. Disappointing.

Grigor Dimitrov said on Sunday said he has tested positive for COVID-19, making him the highest-profile tennis player to reveal he has contracted the virus.

The 29-year-old Bulgarian had been competing in the Adria Tour exhibition tournament in Croatia until he withdrew due to feeling ill during the weekend.

Goran Ivanisevic, the director of the tour's Zadar leg and Djokovic's coach, was greeted with jeers from the fans when he broke the news courtside.
