I bought 1 million bells' worth (at 92 each), same as I did last week. I also had the crown show up in the shop today when I had a grand total of 70k to my name, which is fun. I've paid off my house now, so having a couple million in the bank should be adequate moving forward.

I promise you that the killer did not own that gun legally, and probably wasn't even allowed to have guns at all

Every illegally-owned/obtained gun was legally purchased at one or more points in the supply chain. Any efforts to control the legal acquisition and ownership of guns will trickle down to affect illegal acquisition and ownership, especially if legal ownership includes requiring secure storage to prevent the theft that supplies so much of the black market (which any common sense gun control regulations do). This notion that gun control is hopeless because criminals will always have guns relies on the assumption that criminals magically make guns appear rather than purchasing them legally and selling them to other criminals. Control the former, and you control the latter.

Depends mostly on how much damage the individual enemies can do and how much health they have. If they're a serious threat, bursting one down can make incoming damage more manageable than trying to handle all of the damage for long enough to AoE the whole pack down at once, but that's only true if they have a small enough health pool that they can be burst down quickly enough. If individually killing them takes longer, then you need to handle their full damage long-term anyway, so it's better to AoE them for the greater damage output and just deal with the incoming damage until the pack's gone. Similarly, for really big packs, killing one enemy won't have a significant impact on their damage, so AoE's the way to go.

Of course, it's also going to depend on pack sizes and relative damage values for the attacks. If a single-target attack does 4x the damage of an AoE one, obviously you don't use AoE for anything less than 4 enemies (maybe 3, if AoE is lazier and it's not a serious enough fight to warrant min/maxing). I feel like that goes without saying, though.

Nah. I'm ok with letters or a number of whatever length. Once you need capitals and symbols, I'd just rather not use your site.

So you'd rather waste the money you spent on the drone than remember a slightly more complex password than you're used to? This doesn't even surprise me, but still I find my face resting in the palm of my hand.

DPsx7 posted...
If it's so complex I'd never remember it then I may as well never go there.

If you can't remember capital letters and symbols, you should perhaps work on developing your memory. That, or develop an algorithm like replacing spaces with question marks and capitalizing the second-last letter of every word (capitalizing the first letter of words is potentially risky because any dictionary-based cracking algorithm is going to try that) to make remembering it easier.

DPsx7 posted...
It's not like there aren't hundreds of other sites to use with more competent security options.

By any objective measure, requiring greater password entropy is a more competent security option than not doing so. Requiring password length over password entropy is better still (going by https://howsecureismypassword.net/, an 8-character password consisting of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols is significantly less secure than a 16-character password consisting only of numbers, as much as number-only passwords are a bad idea), but you really can't make a case for having more stringent password security requirements being "incompetent security options." That's just very obviously nonsense.

Furthermore, there aren't hundreds of other sites to use to apply for licenses in your municipality. You've got one option there. Your choice is between making a password they like or not getting the license you need. You went with the option that left you with a very expensive paperweight instead of the option that required you to remember slightly more characters than you're used to. Even then, where it's not a site you use often, you could get away with making a throwaway password that you forget and just resetting it when you need to use the site again, meaning you don't even need to remember anything "hard." That's unambiguously not a smart decision.

ChaosAzeroth posted...
Okay real talk some captchas are absolute ass.

This, I can agree with. As far as password-based applications go, captchas accomplish nothing a login attempt limit can't also do. Password expiry is also a stupid idea in the vast majority of cases because it encourages people to use more easily-guessed passwords and/or to write them down somewhere (which won't necessarily be secure) while doing nothing to protect against account compromises unless the password is changed right in the middle of said compromise (which is extremely unlikely without having passwords change far too often to be practical).

It's also worth trying to find all the skulltulas in Story Mode, since that often involves some potentially tricky challenges, as well as completing the story levels on hard. It's really a very well-crafted game in that you can just mindlessly button mash your way through the story if that's what you're after, but there are also plenty of opportunities to seek out harder stuff if you want. It's still nothing tremendously deep, since it is just a beat 'em up at its core and not a serious strategy game or anything, but it's some good fun.

Past borderline slide show territory, I generally don't care too much about framerates so long as they're consistent. Higher can be nice, but so long as the game stays at the same rate instead of dropping and speeding up frequently, I'm fine. It is really weird, though, to go between playing with 3-4 players in Mario Kart 8 to playing with 1-2, since it goes from a consistent 30 FPS (which is fine on its own) to a consistent 60 (which is also fine on its own) and the transition throws me right off.

B is the dodge button in HW. I feel like you would have a hard time beating it just doing that.

Also, the vast majority of the game's content lies outside of the main story. Adventure Mode (especially the DLC maps) is where you're going to find trickier level gimmicks that require some strategy in how you build your characters and approach the battles, as well as chances to use the characters that just don't show up in Story Mode. It's worth exploring if you enjoyed the base gameplay at all, though a lot of it still boils down to a fairly mindless beat 'em up because that's what Warriors games are.

This is not simply about personal safety, as much as the "don't tell me what to do!" crowd seems to thing it is, it's about limiting the spread of an extremely contagious disease. You're not being asked to wear a mask and stay home to keep yourself healthy, you're being asked to wear a mask and stay home to keep everyone healthy.

I also think if you're scared of this thing, YOU should stay home.

Again, that's all well and good, until you consider that it's impossible to stay home 100% of the time. People need food and other essential supplies, and precautions like this help to minimize the number of new cases that arise from people filling those needs. There are also those that simply don't have the option of staying home due to being considered essential workers, who are endangered by every single person that doesn't comply with recommendations. To simplify it to such a degree is hideously selfish and inconsiderate of everyone around you, and you should not expect the law to respect such nonsense.

The conductor? You can go to music school for it, but being a decent one comes more from experience rather than anything that can really be taught. Most conductors have some prior experience playing and build on that. By the time you get to the performance, the conductor is indeed fairly unnecessary, but they're still handy for providing cues, tempo adjustments, and other such pieces of information. During rehearsals, though, they're responsible for putting the whole piece together, making stylistic choices, tempo choices, dynamic choices, orchestration adjustments (you don't always have the same instrument composition as the composer intended), identifying parts that need work and scheduling rehearsals accordingly... There's quite a lot that goes into preparing a musical performance, and it's generally much simpler to have a conductor organize all of that than to have 40+ musicians do it among themselves.

Mr Allen my former landlord) to the houses does wellfare checks on people who have health risk or are elderly versus Screwem Inc who has 40 apartment buildings, only contact point is voicemail, and the property manager only shows up to post notes on your door instead of knocking. A landlord should do maintenance on your house, check for code violations, and contact the residents. If they fail to do these things they run a risk of fines in excess of what they hypothetical rent is. Especially since alot of municipalities can and do fine per day out of ordinance.

I do agree that there's a lot of unfair anti-landlord sentiment behind this idea. There are a lot of terrible landlords out there, certainly, but to screw all of them over based on that isn't fair to the ones that do treat their tenants well and take responsibility for their properties, and I think people need to separate themselves from that anger before making these suggestions. "They should just get a real job and suffer being broke in the mean time if they really depend on that rent so much" is not a healthy attitude, nor is it proper justification for sweeping rent cancellation measures. Landlords need money to survive, too. That money shouldn't necessarily have to come from their tenants during such a time of mass unemployment, and falling below their normal income levels shouldn't be a problem provided their basic needs are taken care of, but some compassion for landlords is still warranted.

On one hand, I get that suspending rent isn't like suspending mortgage payments in that rent is a payment for a service that you're continuing to use (whereas a mortgage is a payment plan on a product you've purchased), so they aren't as comparable as people like to act like they are. On the other hand, everybody is losing income over this crisis and I don't see why landlords should be any different. Give them stimulus cheques as well and waive whatever taxes and mortgage payments are needed to keep a roof over their heads and food on their tables, and let them weather the storm with the rest of us. Maybe work out some plan whereby commercial tenants pay a percentage of their usual rent equal to the percentage of their usual business that they're able to maintain, since that's just fair, but otherwise there's no reason for landlords to expect to continue making the same amount of money they did when the country as able to work normally.

Still quite doable, and I don't recall having any issues with timing out except on some of the tougher Hypers (trying to solo Hyper Jho before I had decent G-rank gear was the only one I can think of, and even that was just playing too timidly because Hyper Jho is scary and subsequent attempts had me triple carting like a real man), but a bit of a slog at times nonetheless.

It's been reasonably entertaining so far. The whole thing is structured as a series of missions, rather than zones being continuous, persistent levels, which has benefits and drawbacks. On one hand, I like being able to replay missions to find stuff I might have missed, or to go for a better rating (if memory serves, you basically had to replay the entire game to achieve this in LM1). It also means the level's layout and enemy distribution can change between missions, which adds a bit of variety. On the other hand, it means I'm spending a lot of time retreading the same parts of the levels (even with minor differences) on the way to new areas, such that the rate at which I'm getting to explore new parts of levels is pretty slow. It also really breaks up my sense of progression through the level because mission breaks tend to happen right after finding a key or similar item, rather than letting me immediately act on that progress and feel like I've accomplished something, and I'm not a big fan of that.

Still, the basic gameplay is fun enough, the writing's charming, and figuring out how to catch each new ghost makes for an interesting (if rarely very deep) puzzle each time. I'm guessing Polterpup is the name of the dog that I just recently encountered who is obviously going to become a game mechanic later on, though he hasn't been named yet or had any significance beyond his introduction.

Makes enough sense, particularly where virtually all such weapons on the market (black or otherwise) have been imported and that import is relatively easy to control. Unfortunately, it wouldn't have done much to stop the dickbag in Nova Scotia, since he was more of a really fast serial killer than a mass shooter. His kills were at separate locations and spread out over a fair amount of time, which, realistically, he could have done just as easily with a homemade hand crossbow as with a large-magazine rifle. Broadly, though, there's really no reason for anyone to own such weaponry (they're not particularly suitable for self-defense, and hunters are fine to reload more often than that), and it does open the door to more traditional mass shootings, so might as well keep them off the streets.

That cuts out a lot of the risk involved in starting the project, which is a very attractive idea.

A remake doesn't have to be a frame-for-frame copy of the original (arguably, it shouldn't, especially in a world where the original is easily attainable).

Hercules, on the other hand, is a story that's already been done more seriously many other times, and pretty much the only reason the animated Disney version is worth watching is because of how silly and fantastic it is (to be clear, I do enjoy it quite a bit). That silliness is also going to be very difficult to emulate in live action even if they do try for a frame-for-frame remake, so I'm really not sure what they're hoping to accomplish here. I don't have particularly high hopes.

My biggest problem was that silly forced feminist anthem they created for Jasmine that so hilariously out of place that I couldn't stop laughing the whole time...

I'm fine with giving Jasmine a bigger role, particularly since class mobility and defying social/cultural expectations are such central themes to Aladdin's story and there was plenty of room to expand on Jasmine's role in all of that, but her song was indeed painfully hamfisted and so musically inconsistent that I was left wondering if Disney had forgotten how to write scores for musicals that aren't Frozen. The movie could have done without that, or at least with a subtler, stylistically-consistent alternative.

that and some of the song & dance numbers felt more Bollywood than Arabic.

What bothered me was how they kept accelerating the video playback rate to keep up with the music. There were several points where the framerate obviously changed because the video was faster than the dancers they hired could dance, which was just sloppy.

Plus nobody was a particularly good singer, but that's kind of a running theme with the LA remakes.

They weren't bad, per se, but they weren't a great stylistic match. I liked Will Smith's version of Friend Like Me well enough, since he was able to put his own spin on that and adjust it to his strengths, but Arabian Nights wasn't good. Similarly, Jasmine's actress did a reasonable job with the song they wrote for Jasmine, since that seemed to play to her strengths, but her style was very out of place in A Whole New World (particularly where it didn't match the way Aladdin was singing). It seemed to me that the people in charge of hiring for those roles didn't take any input from the songwriters, since everyone was just more pop-ish than was suitable for the movie (which is completely consistent with executive meddling).

If enough people chuck it, it'll be a collector's item. There's good irony for the haters.

I mean, pretty much anything that belonged to Hitler would be considered a collector's item. Stuff being rare and historically significant (not that this is overly historically significant) doesn't mean the person behind the stuff doesn't deserve whatever degree of vitriol they're currently getting.

That, and this is just a letter with a copy of a signature on it. The full text is out there, as is the image of the signature, meaning anyone with Microsoft Word can recreate this if they're so inclined. That's going to pretty much destroy any potential it had as a collector's item. Had the letter been hand-signed, it might have more value because that's harder to forge, but that's not the case.

Once again, I watered all my flowers, then went to do the May Day island thingy, and when I came back it was raining. Apparently the game hates me.

She's clearly suffering from psychiatric illness or is on drugs.

By the sound of it, the former, attempting to self-medicate with pot. This sounds like pretty textbook psychosis. She is likely to be dangerous right now (not necessarily to Biden himself, but definitely to those around her), but with medication and therapy may be able to safely rejoin the public in a couple years' time.

And therein lie the concerns about how cumbersome the controls would be. When it comes to manipulating cursors, control sticks just can't compare to mice.

Because Drag is a performance, a bit of a caricature and exaggeration.

Its usually not intended to be applied as if trying to actually pass as that gender.

This. There are plenty that are still not very good at said caricature/exaggeration, or who give up trying to develop any makeup skills because they feel they can fall back on "it's supposed to look ridiculous" if anyone ever challenges them on it, but ultimately it's never meant to be normal, reasonable makeup.

As I understand, a number of vaccine candidates are aiming to be easily modifiable to adapt to new strains in the future, operating under the presumption that coronaviral infections will continue to be a major problem moving forward. That should in theory, make coming up with one for the current SARS of the month about as easy as it is to come up with each year's new flu shot.

Sounds illegal. The rate they're paying is only $2.08/hr. Pay me $7.25/hr or $174 per day and I'll do it.
