Just finished watching it. Had actually been looking forward to seeing it for along time, and it wasn't horrid.

But I do wish they had gone in a slightly different direction, having him start off like a normal kid and fairly good, but be bullied etc, and change to evil because of how he was treated, even while his family tries to prevent that from happening.

Perhaps even having one of him parents killed to start the final transformation.

Also much like in Smallville etc, the ship could be basically telling him he is superior, should not grow attachments with humans and that he must rule them.

It was good, but, they just made him a psycho basically, it would have been much more enjoyable if he was a bit more.....human so to speak.

Superman from the comics has always been too unbelievably good, especially when you see others from his planet are not like that at all. I would have rather seen a more realistic superman, who eventually spirals into a monster, it could have been a really heart wrenching story and really got you to care about the characters.

The problem with brightburn was, I didn't care about any of em, not even the kid, so there was no emotional attachment, in fact I was pretty much just waiting for the eventual conclucsion (her using the ship since they obviously forshadowed it so much), but didn't even care when she failed and died afterwards.

Bad casting I think, and just didn't make the characters relatable or allow you to actually care about them. Sad, because I love the concept and think it could have been a really good movie.

Odds are if theaters are still closed, they'll do digital release instead.

The theater release date was likely planned in advance before any of the current problems started, and is still mostly just a hold-over. As the release date gets closer with no sign of theaters being open, there won't be much reason to retain it when they can just negotiate digital release terms/methods instead.

If anything, that might be the reason why they haven't announced a digital release date - there's a lot of admin involved with negotiating whether your movie is going to show up on cable/Hulu/Netflix/Disney+/etc, so they might still be working on a deal behind the scenes, so can't really announce a distribution platform yet. Even if everyone involved on the distribution side is fully aware this is never going to be in actual theaters.

My understanding is that the movie is being produced by MGM/UA, and I'm not sure if they have any preferential arrangements with any existing streaming services. So it's harder to predict where it might go than it would if, for instance, a studio like Disney was involved.

Well, I'll sign up for whatever it shows up on if it does. They could also just do the (recently released) digital movie price which is $15 I think. I hope they don't though as I wouldn't pay that much in the theaters and I don't know if I would initially either. I might wait till it dropped.

I honestly have no clue what's for dinner tonight. Likely veggie sausages and salad or chicken nuggets.

It's great for BBQing. If you like dark meat (thighs/legs), it's one of the best ways to cook em/make em. A bit of BBQ sauce and your rocking. I'm not using bbq sauce (just spices) since i'm making tacos, but this is an exception. It's seriously good though. Way better than getting em with the bones etc.

I wouldnt think age would matter much is VR since its more of a mind thing. It should be fine. If we make it to a point where we can live forever, it depends on how. If its like new bodies or something, youll be fine. If its like a jellyfish where we can re-age, that would be fine, but with a bunch of complications depending how that works. If its stuck at the age where were at, people might not like it much. But we could also have a bunch of strong old people...

It'll probably be in stages, initially extending our current lifespan drastically (Say to 200), and then long term being able to regrow organs etc and rejuivinate bodies. So it might start off with me being oh like 65-70 for 80+ years....and I don't really know if I could stand that to eventually get to a point where I could be young again.

If VR was much better though, I probably could, and yeah, VR might allow for sex etc, but i'm not sure if it can recreate a sex drive, which mostly goes away (Well for most people) after a certain age. If you don't have an interest in sex, the best VR in the world probably wouldn't create one.

I went shopping yesterday and ground beef (80%) was on sale for 2.99 so I got 2 pounds (in seperate containers per pound). I also got these new fajjita soft flour shells, I have some chilli beans, refried beens, tomattos and hot sauce.

Gonna totally try and make some delicious burritos with em!!!

I also got 2 pounds of boneless skinless chicken thighes (tomorrow though), and make tacos out of em as well. I'm making all 2 pounds at one on the grill, but will store most of it in the fridge for later tacos hehe.

So it's self made taco week!!!

And yeah, no steak, I am a bit steaked out ofter all the rib eyes that were on sale the last 2 weeks, I'm taking a break.

I already ate half a pound of immitation crab meat dunked in butter this morning as well.

They are pretty expensive. Cheaper would probably be good.

Thing that sucks is by the time these are affordable and lifelike (don't just lay there), I'll be too old to care. Maybe even for VR sex as well, unless age doesn't matter for that (which is possible).

I may make it to the point where humans can live forever, but I may be to old by then to care.

Machines that can make any kind of food you want, made specifically to your taste, but with totally healthy ingredients (no actual animals killed either). Basically 3d printers of food mixed with star trek tech.

VR as mentioned above, full immersion, including full tactile immersion so VR sex is extremely lifelike (but even better in fact cause less limits and not based around basic biology restrictions).

UBI for everyone, work is primarily voluntary (most things can be done with robots etc), everyone has a safe place to live, unlimited entertainment/VR and the above machine that makes any food/drink they want.

That would be a start at least.

Personally, I want to believe these shows are at least partly real and the rest is just editing =x

Granted, I imagine that at least some winners on reality shows are likely chosen by producers from the onset. It would certainly explain a recent Dancing with the Stars season where -- in addition to greater talent being overlooked -- the winner just happened to be starting on another reality tv show from the same network (either Bachelor or Bachelorette).

Alot are total fake, like house hunters, they already have a house, and the 2 other choices are just made up to create the show (I used to watch with my wife). I'm pretty sure the bachelorete is mostly fake as well (if not totally), and dancing with the stars is generally in the bag as they already know who is the best dances and who the audience is likely to vote for etc before hand (even if they use the audiences votes).

Most are fake, but Survivor at least supposedly has some real portions and anyone has a chance to win when they first start. They do hand pick the contestants though, which gives at least some idea of who is bringing what to the table and who is most likely to win, but I think other than that, it's mostly left to play out without interfering with the players choices/actions etc.

Me and my wife were big fans of Rupert back in the day, and Colby and a few others, but it's been like 10+ years since we watched at this point.

Yeah, that isn't listed in the rules, but I imagine that is how they do it. Not voting btw is grounds for imediate removal from the game.

Also, I didn't know they need to both write the name and say it out loud, for it to be counted.

They are also not allowed to communicate with each other at all when cameras are not around, and cameras film them at all times (other than a few specific ones when traveling from one place to another, when they are not allowed to communicate). That includes any time they are naked, using the rest room etc (kinda creepy).

They also are not allowed to steal from each other (including immunity idols), but they ARE allowed to search through each others things (to determine if someone actually has an idol for instance). I always wondered if they could steal an idol and now I know.

The whole revote loophole I initially thought of has to be blocked, so your all right, it's probably ONLY the person who voted for themselves that actually has to/gets to revote.

Interesting. It does say a revote, but it doesn't say they ALL revote, so your probably right, otherwise I'm sure someone would have taken advantage.

Meanwhile, while alot is scripted, it's still a real competition so it's not all fake, or at least that is pretty much what every previous contestant has said.

I was recently reading a list of rules the contestants have to follow. While doing so, I came across one rule that could easily be abused big time.

It turns out that if you vote for yourself, it causes and immediate re-vote. That is the rule, and that is the only penalty for doing so.

As you might imagine, this could easily be used to flush out an immunity idol (determining if someone is going to use it, or if they have one) but it also lets you know who the other contestants are going to vote for. It would help avoid needing to split votes etc, and could easily change the game if someone ever thinks of using this strategy.

I can't believe nobody has actually thought of it in all these years (I do not actually watch new seasons anymore).

I wanted to go on survivor back in the day lol. I tried to get my wife to go on Naked and Afraid with me as well (it wasn't the naked part she wasn't down for).

Sword is too limited especially in open areas etc.

Gun sword seems to have the best of both worlds, but it's not as versatile and easy to aim as a normal gun. The advantage you have at close range doesn't make up for the much higher chance of someone actually getting in close to you, and gives you a significant disadvantage over someone with a normal gun at range.

Therefore, the only answer I can give is gun.

See if adding $3 worth of stuff to your order knocks off the small order fee. You'd pay the same price, but get some other stuff.

Yeah it probably would. I think the garlic sticks thing they have is like $3, so that would make more sense.

But it's the bread i'm avoiding anyway, so I wouldn't actually ever do that. I'll just go pick one up for the (I guess more expensive then other places) normal price.

$8 isn't horrid for a pizza though, even if with tax it's basically $9.

I would prob just have half the pizza the day I get it, and the other half 2 days later.

I'll try it next month I think.

It's 7.99 here so that makes sense with a drink + tax.

It's actually a great deal if you go there and pick it up yourself. It's not a great deal at 23$ to have it delivered though.

There are two of them within a mile or so of me, so I could easily go get one, but I generally save my monthly pizza for Salamone's since it's much better. Then again it's 30$ and I can't eat most of it anymore (Actually have to throw it out ...it hurts my soul).

I may just switch to doing the little ceasars extra most bestest once a month for 7.99 (prob 9$ after tax). It's actually right next to safeway, so I could stop off on the way back from shopping even.

And they even say "No minimum charge for delivery" on their advertisement.

Now, I wasn't gonna get a pizza mind you, but the ad basically said the delivery fee was 2.99 and 10% of the order. I was like cool, let me see how much it would really cost!!

So I went on their website, and I ordered a bestest pizza (Extra cheese and pep) which is 7.99. In theory it should be 3$ more for delivery and 10% of the total (which even if they do it AFTER the delivery charge would only be $1 more. That would be about $11.

Seems decent, toss in a tip and say it's $13 total for the pizza about 1.5x the base price. I can live with that.

Lol, no, not even close, they are bait and switching and I hate that.

So, when you do order it they do the following.

3$ for delivery charge.
3$ for "small order fee"
2$ service fee (Which I guess is the 10%, except thats more than 10% even with all the other fees).
2$ taxes (because of all the other fees, since taxes happens after everything else).
3$ (base) for tip (you can drop it to 2$ though).

Total cost was 18$ and change without the tip.

With the tip, your at over 2.5x the cost of the initial pizza (almost at 3x).

I believe when I looked into it, that they are using doordash to deliver their pizzas, you just order it through them. So that is probably just the normal way doordash charges, but it's still false advertising (although they didn't directly say there was no other fees, so it's not legally false advertising I guess).

Wait, did someone mention time travel? I'm always down for a discussion about that!!!

There will probably be no "second wave" in the US as it looks like we will naturally extend the first wave till the second one would have started. The question then actually becomes if the virus is/will mutate, and people can get it more than once.

If that is the case we could be looking at a very bad situation until a vaccine has been made (and hopefully it works for multiple strands and isn't like the flu).

The original estimation was for the virus to have mostly dissipated by July (and it has in most of the world), allowing people a small window before the fall (september/october) when it would return more than likely.

Currently though we are experiencing the largest number of cases per day in the US, and are heading towards the largest # of deaths as well (Which will probably continue to get worse as average time till death is 3 weeks after getting the virus and the high number of new cases are only a a week or so old at this point).

To add to the confusion and misery, fall and winter are the traditional flu seasons as well, and flu symptoms are very close to the virus, which could easily cause panic, force people to isolate completely (no shopping etc) or force them to go to the hospital/get tested which can put them at risk of actually getting the virus if they already don't have it.

The only real solution honestly if for a very severe (more then we have in the past) stay at home, where nobody goes out unless absolutely neccesary (which is what I have done for about 6 freaking months at this point), and those who do, social distance, wear masks and wash their hands/use disinfactant etc before touching their mouths/face etc.

To not do so with the current numbers in the US right now is crazy. I hate to be overly political on here, there are people who feel strongly about our president one way or the other, but Trump basically ignoring the virus and having rallys etc, is insane and very dangerous. It can easily cost thousands of americans their lives and many more to get sick and have long term damage.

I sure as heck wanna get out of my freaking basement and go out while it's sunny/nice and there is plenty of daylight. I'm dead tired of staying at home, I'm all alone, and the only way I interact with friends/family is through zoom or my phone. It's been 6 months for me due to having pneumonia, and if this keeps up, it'll be the equivalent of sending me to freaking mars solo, in a ship (I think it takes 2 years, but it's gonna feel like that soon).

Even so, going out now is basically making all the previous sacrifice worthless. I know it's hard, but (at least in the US) we need to freaking stay at home and kill this virus like much of the rest of the world has done.

IF people do that, we can maybe end this in a month or two, if they don't, it could easily be 6+ months or more before any type of normal life returns. Sadly it's probably going to be longer for people who are high risk like me, even if we did drop the numbers drastically it would be pretty crazy for me to go out much in the next month or two, and then we would probably have another wave.

This, sadly, is life for many of us in the near future. I hate jails, I hate putting people or animals in cages. But right now, although we can make them fairly comfortable, and we have netflix/games/books etc to entertain ourselves, we pretty much have to do the responsible thing and jail ourselves until this is over:(

But snickers are so good as well, and Milky way bars are similar but lighter. I love frozen kit kats though, and reeses (cups or pieces) are delicious as well.

TopicOuter Worlds Vs. Greedfall Vs. (something)

Both were disappointing.

Greedfall feels like it should be a much better game than it is, with a ton of potential and sort of moving into the niche Bioware used to fill, before Bioware transformed into hot liquid shit. But for all the hype it's essentially bordering on being an indie game, which means it kind of looks like shit and it was never going to be all that elaborate or deep because the studio couldn't afford to work that hard on it.

The dialogue trees - which people sort of latched onto as a huge deal beforehand - basically boil down to "Do you want to know more?" and "Do you want to accept this sidequest?", with almost no meaningful choice or ability to really affect the world in any way. It's a mediocre RPG telling the story it wants to tell, and while I enjoyed it to some degree (and 100%ed it), it's not a game I would ever feel compelled to go back to ever again.

Meanwhile, everyone went in to Outer Worlds expecting New Vegas IN SPACE, but we all forgot that Obsidian has been spiraling the edge of bankruptcy for years now, so they were going to be producing content more like an indie studio than they were the Obsidian of old. The end result is a game that feels unfinished - it's an interesting enough setting and a workable starting concept, but the companions all seem pointless and bland as fuck, the story is paper-thin and barely bothers to give you a reason to give a fuck about anything other than "Do this because the game wants you to", the plot is very much "Point A to Point B to Point C" railroading with your only real choice being whether or not you feel like doing sidequests. You can see the New Vegas mentality/sense of humor/flavor, but it comes across more like someone trying to do a mediocre rip-off of New Vegas than something made by the same team with the same level of ability and skill.

Again, while I've played New Vegas almost a dozen times (and felt like I was playing a very different character with very different backstories and adventures each time), I have zero interest in ever playing Outer Worlds ever again (I couldn't even be bothered to 100% it the way I did GreedFall). The only thing Outer Worlds really makes me feel is "I wonder if this would be a better game if they'd had twice as much time and ten times as much money to make it".

Ironically, both games kind of lean so hard into their respective underlying themes/morals and in such blatant, ham-fisted ways that it starts to feel preachy more than insightful, and thus kind of annoying. Yes yes, we get it, capitalism bad, grr. White people are the devil, Europe bad, etc etc. Now say something CLEVER about it. Outer Worlds is especially bad about this, as it feels like they have one joke that they just keep telling over and over and over and over again and the punchline is "CAPITALISM IS BAD!", but GreedFall doesn't really put much effort or complexity into its viewpoint either.

Neither game is terrible, and both can be enjoyable if you turn your brain off and have zero expectations or prior experience with RPGs in general, but they're both kind of disappointing if you've played much better games before, or expected more from them from all the pre-release hype or reviews that made them sound way better than they actually are.

If I was a hipster, I'd probably say something like "Disco Elysium".

But in my opinion 2019 was a blasted wasteland of terrible game releases. When you ignore ports, rereleases, remasters, and remakes, there's almost NOTHING of value that came out in 2019.

RDR2 might have to win by default due to lack of anything resembling competition. And I don't even LIKE RDR2 that much, because I feel like it went waaay too deep into simulation and railroady storytelling that keeps me from really enjoying the story or characters the way I did with RDR1. But it was still better than pretty much everything else.

I feel like I spent most of 2019 playing games like Minecraft, Stardew Valley, and games I had left over from 2018 or earlier because there was nothing coming out that I cared about at all.

Bubblegum. The kind with actual gum in it.

This as well, but again, without the bublegum in it. In fact I can't get it anymore because of the gum sigh. I love the ice cream flavor though.

I kinda picture this timid/shy girl going up to the counter to get placed in line for seating and telling them her name then everyone turns to her and screams "GTFO!!!!", and she runs out the door crying.

I like the taste of butter pecan, but not the pecans lol. I wish they would have it without the nuts.

Would that just be buttered?

Whatever, it would be good.

If I could do half that and half vanilla i'd be in heaven.

Course I generally only have 1 spoonfull of icecream, so it's kinda hard to split that.

Other than that, Marge and Lisa would actually do everything and they would be a pretty good president.

Bart though...might get us in a few wars.

The sale is over. Sadly I have pretty much all the games that were on sale and good, but I realized when going through the list of games right before it ended, that I REALLY should have compiled a list of games that were super cheap and on sale for others. It would have taken awhile but there was some REALLY good games on sale for very low prices.

Rogue Legacy for instance was so cheap, both of the steamworld dig games were seriously cheap, both Sacred 1 gold and 2 gold were insanely cheap for how much time you can spend playing them etc etc.

There was a good 40+ insanely good deals but by the time I saw that, there wasn't enough time to compile a list for people:(

So you almost get your money's worth!

Hehe, although no still:)

I worked at Starbucks eons ago, and so I always tell friends to get the Cafe Americano, then ask for the water only to the sirens eye and add the mik yourself. Pretty much a 1/2 priced Lattee at that point (But still over $2). I believe it actually comes with 1 more shot as well.

I had about 500$ in starbucks gift cards when I finished teaching 4 years ago or so now, ended up giving em away cause I'm just as happy spending 2 cents for a nice cup of tea at home (and that's the quality tea!).

It's crazy how much some people spend on starbucks per year. I've known people who swing by at least 3 times a day (before work, at lunch, after work) and blow a good $20 that way. That is $600 or so a month and about $7000 a year. Seriously Crazy.

Vitamins, for most people, are a way to make your piss more expensive.

If the doc says your short on something, you can do two things, change diet, or add a vitamin.

Put it another way, if it helps, you are either unhealthy and should see the doctor, or you are delusional.

That remeinds me, I did mention possibly taking vitamins once to my doctor (years ago) and he said I should let him know if I did (what vitamins I took), which I didn't expect (cause I thought lots of people just took them. I never did start taking them though.

I had (still do) low energy and thought vitmins might help with that.

I have never taken vitamins, and I kinda wonder if they actually make a difference at all. I'm older now, perhaps I should try it and see if it gives me more energy or something.

I've known a few people who did, but I never really asked them about it. It's a huge industry though which makes me think it has to have some effect or why would so many people spend money on them?

As I'm passing through 50 and into the (in my mind) older age groups, perhaps I should consider at least trying a few (or maybe just a multi-vitamin) even day.

I wonder if they come in gummy form (without alot of sugar), I so miss gummies!! Course you probably only get to eat one gummy in vitamin form, I think they frown on you eating the whole packet in 20 minutes.
