We let our cats have some supervised time in our backyard so they don't jump the fence and get ran over or eaten.

Yeah i was going by that information.

Sounds to me he did make the purchase, had the proof it was purchased at that store. But didnt have proof that he planned on leaving it there and was now there to pick it up. Or else it wouldnt have taken that long to prove it nor would there have been that much drama surrounding it that he was accused of stealing it and cops had to come in.

Sounds to me he just told a random employee he was leaving it there, that employee eventually goes home or goes on his break. Dude comes back and cant really prove that he had left a TV there. 'eventually managed to verify his purchase' seems like the original employee he left it with came back or was phonecalled to say 'yeah some dude left his tv there lol'

The thing is the incident wit the police didn't happen at that time. It happened after that, when they already left, and came back to return it, which means they already had the item outside and were bringing it back in. Is this like arresting black people for "robbing" a house because they are putting stuff in because they are moving into it?

They bought the TV, but it wouldn't fit in their SUV. They came back with a different vehicle to pick the TV up, and employees accused them of stealing it. They were able to verify the purchase and leave with the TV. They came back to return the TV because they were upset about being accused of stealing it. Employees were still accusing them of stealing the TV and called the cops. That's when the arrest happened.

Apparently, breeding them just for their friendliness/lack of fear/aggressiveness to humans, also causes physical changes to manifest. Like floppy ears, differently colored spots on the fur, etc.

It's interesting how domestic animals come in more colorful, spotted or blotched patterns that wild counterparts lack. Of course, cows were bred to have spots/blotches so they can be easily identified, as protection against theft. But to see physical attributes to appear without intentionally looking for them is interesting. It's as if all animals have a genetic program to become more identifiable the friendlier they are to humans.

They use it to explain normal-range reduction/augmentation.
