I spent like a solid hour last night trying to catch a Blue Marlin (went through like 50 bait) and caught 3 tunas! I already donated one to the museum earlier so now I have enough for the model. Then after basically giving up, I approached the dock baitless only for the first fish already swimming there to be a Blue Marlin!

But hey I missed the Stringfish so there's that.

Oh so certain flowers can sell for a lot? Breeding them is one thing I've yet to get involved in in this game. Well I learned my lesson here so I won't ever pick flowers again, but can't speak for others obviously.

I'm so sorry! I've never plundered flowers before but was getting desperate for cash and it was a wasted effort anyway. I figured they grow back so hoped you wouldn't mind but my bad, I should have absolutely asked first.

Remind me never to go to anyone's island broke again though. You had tons of cool stuff in your Able Sisters and Lief was there with rose seeds! I mean, I could have just gone back home and gotten bells but figured that was too much of a hassle...so instead I scavenged for shells, fished (and caught tons of junk) and spent way too long to make shy of 10k. I should have just made two trips >_>

Trash cans are immediate destruction of your items, not storage. I hope you haven't been placing items in there thinking it's storage.

But yeah, I'm almost at capacity now so this seems like a good time to take a break from the game...or at least stop buying so many color variants of clothes! Hopefully they expand storage at some point in the coming months.

It's so weird that they included this, but then every single stereo you place outside all automatically play the same thing. I set them all to shuffle to kiiind of offset this, but I was really disappointed I couldn't basically give different parts of my island different themes.

And uhhh, earlier today Rex went on a rant about him believing that the entire island was actually just a video game (backed up with hilarious observational evidence) and...it was incredible. Just made me realize how much more dialogue of that caliber could do for this game.

Hmmm people were being stingy tonight! Ah well. Only got 1 99k bell tip, but to be fair I was wandering around when people started showing up nonstop and I said I'd be in the beach to the left of the airport. This is why I need a tips sign. Since I always make tipping optional because that's the way it should be, it'd be nice to not have to stand in one place to help the people who are going to tip find me. Plus, I could just leave my game on (seriously hosting for randos is so unbelievably cumbersome thanks to Nintendo's insane, archaic online) and give people the benefit of the doubt that they won't steal.

But lowkey, this is pretty much the kindest, most honest online community I've ever been a part of in a game before. Multiple times I've dropped tips for other people in front of the wrong person and they've never stolen it. And vice versa, I've had tips piling up at my island because I stopped paying attention and they've always been sitting there. Would be so easy to steal in both instances but people in the AC community are just the best.

Does anyone have a code for a Tips sign to put on a signpost? I think I remember someone's town here having one of those. Could use it to give the AC board folks a spot to place tips if I'm away. Googling Animal Crossing tips sign gives me "tips" and advice and that's definitely not what I want!

I'm using Ameritrade and it said to deposit at least 2k to qualify for a margin account, which I did! Using margins you can basically double your profits and/or losses? Or was that something else?

But yeah, definitely going to hope to find the last red day. Still debating whether I should just buy another 1k or more of shares now or hope for another red day soon to invest.

Alright, Bank of America is slowly rising. Think there's a likelihood of it falling again anytime soon or do upward trends usually continue for a while first? Because now I want to buy a lot more shares of it, but am going to be a little peeved if it drops right after I buy some.

Also is there like a limit on buying and selling shares of the same stock? If I sold all my shares now could I reinvest right back in it tomorrow with the extra money?

Just got my fishing streak up to 88 and broke it! Laughed too damn hard. I never expected to get 50 so I'm fine.

Breaking my fishing streak, also around the high 80s, was one of the only times I reset the game without saving! Worth it. Didn't want that achievement looming over me forever.

Yeah I think I've only seen like 10 or a few more spiders this whole game but I see bagworms all the time. One thing I've noticed though: if you find money in your trees, there's always a spider, bagworm, wasp or piece of furniture nearby.

I went to my first upgraded shop and bought all those and no regrets. The colorful fishing rod lure is sooo cute.

I'm having a meteor shower right now and have wished on more than 60 stars in a little over 10 minutes jesus. Typing with one hand to press A! If it ever stops for a minute will open up gate. Saharah is here too.

E: oh there's server maintenance coming up. well I'm about to hit 200 stars wished on good god

Yeah, that's the way I'm looking at it. I was just curious why you weren't playing the waiting game yourself for the maximum return, but if you were using it for immediate cash to reinvest back into other stocks that makes sense.

I'm braaand new to this stuff and that was officially my first purchase of shares (though I inherited stocks before but never did any trading). Judging from your prediction history, Moonroof, I feel pretty safe. Looks like you were just investing in these banks for short-term gains though? As you said, the big banks are basically impervious to long-term economic ruin, so why not just hold onto your shares until they rise back up to their usual territory?

I bought 50 shares at 21.79 for the record. In the months before the coronavirus wiped out the market these shares hovered around 30-35.

This is probably just extra hype for me as someone who invested an insane amount of time into the original and always wanted worlds but never imagined it happening. And MM1's updates were nowhere near this grandiose all at once. Their updates added a few objects at a time - spikes, red coins, and bouncers was the entirety of the first major update for example. So uhh yeah no chance on that second part. MM1 was getting new content way more consistently though, if you count new mystery mushroom costumes every week as real content anyway.

Now I wish they would just add the 100 Mario challenge back. Basically the same concept as a world but totally randomized levels. The world maker is obviously infinitely cooler, but I'd appreciate the option!

This is fucking incredible. I'm...not sure any game ever has had a free update this robust.

Man this might be just the trick to get me back into Mario Maker. Getting kinda burned out on Animal Crossing and may start playing that more like an hour a day or so as intended so I can go ham on this. Original SMM was my most played game of all time and I just really missed having the Wii U setup in 2, but maybe I can finally get over it.

Yeah the game totally goes by number of things you have strewn about and not some advanced AI calculation of aesthetics and symmetry and whatnot. Makes me wonder if, assuming I'm still not at 5 stars tomorrow, I should just plant a bunch of trees without caring about aesthetic design because more trees is likely the only criteria I'm short on.

If you get a 5 star island, I'm assuming you can lose it? And if so, are there any ramifications? Basically the only purpose for 5 stars is the gold watering can right? So that would make me think once you get that recipe you're golden (pun intended).

I also totally had this thought as another answer to the solution. Like maybe you can buy the outfit itself and then buy the "color variant" add-on or something to unlock them all. And any time you put on an outfit you can change the color on the fly. They already have the pro design editor app, just bake it into that bad boy.

I really hope they expand the house storage space in this game. I thought 1600 was more than enough but then I started buying all the color variants of the clothes I like at Ables and uhhh I'm at like 1100 already. Actually they should just make wardrobe space and house storage separate things imo and just make wardrobe space something absurd like 10,000
