Well yeah but the word cartoon isn't associated with mass genocide so it's fine to use them interchangeably. The word swastika in English is so closely linked with Nazis that using it to refer to something not related to Nazis is best avoided. It's kind of like how "negro" just means black but obviously using it to refer to a person is much worse than using black because of the historical context. So while saying "it's not a swastika" is technically incorrect, calling it a swastika is intentionally inviting misunderstanding that could be avoided by using another word.

My point was about avoiding misunderstanding. If you like anime and when you meet someone say "I like cartoons", no one is going to think you're talking about anime, even if it's not wrong. If the person then asked "oh what cartoons do you like" and you replied with "DBZ, Bleach, Naruto" the person would be like "oh you like anime". Sure, it's not a big deal in that case but when you mix in Nazis being more clear is kind of more important.

Fuck letting the Nazis erase thousands of years of historical use for two decades of crime. They should not own all context of a word that's not even from their language, and in acting like the word "swastika" refers to Nazis by default is, in a way, letting their ideology win from the grave.

As for the analogy debate, again, context matters. If you're watching SpongeBob and ask your friend what his favorite cartoons are and he rattles off shounen, he's missing the context. If you're watching Jojo and you ask the same and you get the same, it's appropriate in context. If you're showing an image from a Japanese game from developers who are not fascist shitheads or edgelords, the context probably isn't "This game was made by Nazis", so saying it isn't a swastika, it'd a manji is, again, still missing the context. If you're in a class about Operation Barbarossa and the professor draws a swastika on the board, you're missing the context of you think it's about the Navajos. If you're in a discussion about authoritarian ideology and somebody draws a swastika on their arm, you'd be right in calling them a douchebag, even if they try to "well ackshually" its other historical considerations.

if somebody calls Dragon Ball a cartoon and you correct them by saying "It's an anime and not a cartoon", you're wrong at least technically and likely in spirit of the point they're trying to make*. I've always dreamed about going to the bathroom when I have to use it while sleeping (fortunately, this hasn't caused an accident since I was a kid). It's really obnoxious to dream about peeing for a solid minute until you notice it wasn't relieving. When I do realize it, I wake myself up.

What's started to happen is that I wake myself up, get out of bed of bed to go to the bathroom, and have the same issue, so I then need to actually wake up
