I decided to install a PCIe USB port expansion. When I rebooted after installation, two of my drives weren't working, along with my RGB lighting.
difficult or impossible to troubleshoot online, but it "sounds" like maybe you damaged the motherboard somehow. two drives should not fail simultaneously, especially with other things like lights, and a third drive not working in the same place means that it's probably the port(s).

if you know you have at least one working port (the one with your system drive), you should be able to connect one of the "dead" drives to that port and see it in the BIOS (after boot). if you have a known working port, and one drive shows up through it, and another does not, then the one that doesn't is likely truly dead. (this is a bit tricky/scary to test though since it involves disconnecting your system drive temporarily.)

another good way to test/confirm is to connect the drive to a secondary port on any other known working computer. the drive should appear in the BIOS, and should also become available in Windows.

(it is possible to receive a DOA hard drive, but the fact that you have at least some damage to your motherboard, and multiple failing drives, including a new one, would indicate to me that you have failed ports before it would mean that you had three drives all failing for separate reasons.)

I feel like I've seen that, but maybe not. (that's a good idea though). the closest thing I can think of atm was the Wii Fire Emblem game playing on "normal" (which is really "hard"), and it's hard enough that some early maps do boil down to having to move and attack nearly perfectly to not die

I don't think it's age so much as what genres you play. It's a harder than average FPS, with unconventional rules. It can be hard even for people who are used to FPS games. But if you're *not* that into FPS games, then yeah I could definitely see it being too hard. Also, your first playthrough of any game is harder than later playthroughs.

I like mayo, but it can be a bit heavy. eating something that's too greasy can make me nauseous pretty quick. miracle whip is not so fatty and also has a tangy flavour that maybe isn't that great, but does go good on the right sandwich. my personal fav is a fried egg sandwich. miracle whip + two fried eggs between two slices of toasted bread. yummy!

not familiar with the context, but off the top of my head there's two possible ways to look at it:

- he's putting the responsibility on himself rather than the student. (I know a certain scumbag who is the opposite of this. if you don't understand him, it's your fault, and if he doesn't understand you, it's your fault. he will even treat complete strangers this way, as long as it's not in public.)

- maybe you could say that someone who has zero interest in the subject is not actually a student. student implies at least some willingness to learn the subject. so, given that, it's up to the teacher to make it happen.

The free one obviously. That means I would still have 500k in the bank.
I don't mean choose between the two as if that option had presented itself to you, I mean analyze the emotional difference between the two scenarios. (including that buying a $500k car implies that that is something you want to do, and that you can afford it, etc.) you're evaluating something rationally that I'm describing as being irrational.

an example is pride, where I know people that will tend to refuse any kind of generosity. you can't buy them anything, but they'll offer to buy you almost anything (obviously within reason). and if you do buy them something, they'll make sure to outdo you later buying you something just as or even more expensive. this is not rational behaviour, it's more emotion driven. the ability to buy something carries (can carry) a sort of status with it. if you just do a coldly logical +/- dollars and cents analysis, then this behaviour makes no sense.

keyblader1985 posted...
So.. nothing good should ever be given away for free?
think of it like, what would you enjoy more: a lamborghini that you legit paid $500,000 for, or one that a friend of a friend of a friend gave you for free?

there's two ways to look at it, and I think both are more or less subjective. you can feel the satisfaction of having earned something you worked hard for and appreciate the value of the item you obtained and that that value was rewarded with your purchase.

or, you can feel the satisfaction of having obtained a high-value item for a low or even zero cost, and feel great about the overall net gain that you received.

(ok, having written that, I think what I'm describing here is actually something else. I think it's the (false) feeling of receiving value by having paid a large price for something. it's not just the "satisfaction of having earned it"; there is a sort of maybe elitist/snobbish/decadent feeling you can get for buying something exorbitant. it's more like that, but on a smaller scale. so, paying more for something translates into more satisfaction rather than the other way around. I'm not suggesting that's how anyone _should_ be, just noticing this in myself, and noticed that it contrasted the attitude in the OP.)

and then, the amount of knowledge extraction would really be the deciding factor, more than profit. archeology would aim for 100% knowledge extraction, whereas graverobbing would ignore it entirely. if archeology happens to make some profit (not sure how it works), that wouldn't invalidate it. sacrificing knowledge for profit would though.

A TOTALLY MALE BRAIN
You most definitely have what scientists describe as a male brain: you have complete faith in your own ideas and are prepared to back them to the hilt. Other people's emotions often seem irrelevant to you, and you're not very good at recognising them.

what about the product listing is misleading besides the price being high?

did you just assume that the product was something other than what it said, just because the price was high?

(maybe there is little visual distinction between the two kinds of box? but you still shouldn't be surprised to add 5 x $52 to get $250. I don't see why there's any confusion except for the high price.)

you said you were surprised when it came to ~$250? but that can only happen if you intentionally add 5 of them (@ $52 each) to your cart.

if it's overpriced, yes, that's something to be aware of on these kinds of sites (amazon, walmart and newegg are the three that I know of) where there are third-party sellers that often list things at stupid prices hoping someone will buy it anyway (similar to WoW auction house or something).
