Agree with halfsilver. I gather Hades has become quite a big deal in mainstream Western gaming circles since its full release, but I don't think GameFAQs is among those circles. The game's nowhere to be seen on our top 100 trending games even when combining separate platform listings, and it ranks behind multiple games I hadn't even heard of (including a PSP game!) on our most wanted FAQs listing. Obviously such metrics are far from fully indicative, as Rockstar games and recent Pokmon generations clearly indicate, among others. From what I understand, though, Hades is dense and persistent enough in nature to give me reason to expect better if this site had actually taken to an indie roguelite for once.

Agree with Axem I guess. Star Ocean 2 is probably no worse than Star Ocean 3 considering when each game was released, and the latter looked decent (certainly better than Berseria!) in GotD. Rena's clearly not going to be another Velvet, but I have no problem believing she's in the upper half of Low Fodder.

Act III of KRZ beated, even though I swear it was as long as the first two combined. Well, my thoughts sure wandered to some interesting places in the course of it. Unfortunately, that Act I rapture, that warm and tingly feeling of investment, is all gone now.

It's probably a Beatles tribute, yeah, not that I'd really know. However, I'd also argue it's obviously about Thatcherism, at least (and among other things). It's not direct enough to be a good fit, hence my lack of an outright nomination, but I felt it was at least worth an honorable mention as my favorite song that could reasonably be construed as about a famous person.

Agree with Axem, I guess. Carmilla probably would be Mid Fodder if she had actual relevant appearances in Castlevania games people care about, but Rondo of Blood and Circle of the Moon won't be cutting it on that front. At least voters will know who Ms. Green is, and she'd probably get a marginal apathy vote - emphasis on marginal, though, so likely not quite enough to avoid LAW Fodder.

I'm extremely reluctant to put any stock at all into Bo Peep, however. Sure, Toy Story 4 probably has a solid watchrate by 2019 movie standards here, but does that actually translate into memorability and votes for what's essentially a new character? It's not a video game and it didn't come out until well after the 90s (and it's clearly no Endgame or Game of Thrones for example), but we wouldn't be having this discussion about Lotso or even Ken honestly even though Toy Story 3 shares the same problems (and had very similar box office results). The difference there is that many of our voters were practically the perfect age for TS3 to hit them right in the feels after they grew up on its predecessors, whereas TS4 was widely perceived as just another Toy Story.

Ah, I figured you'd be very familiar with at least some Celeste songs, and as much as I like the Good Karma mix, I suppose even I might tire of it a bit if I participated in VGMC. Oh well, I felt I couldn't skip out on the game whose soundtrack got me to restart regularly listening to music independent of context. (And if that sounds weird, well yes it is, but also I tend to find basically any music distracts me too much to take in while I'm also doing other things.)

It's also interesting to see which elements each of us choose to emphasize (or not) in our write-ups. For example, many of us (rightfully, IMO) spotlighted Bound's direction and performances, but I was the only one to also highlight its use of music. Conversely, Vis's point about the deep subversion of societal gender roles baked into its conclusion is one I didn't really consider myself, and yet one I now find myself appreciating.

Great DOOM write-up (of course)! Within a horror context, I especially appreciate how as much as DOOM is rightfully famous for being an adrenaline rush, the potential of quick death to grotesque demons always feels right around the corner anyways.

I finished Act II of KRZ tonight, as well as The Entertainment. I can't say I found the ambience nearly as absorbing this time; instead, the unconventionality of its presentation within the basic framework of a narrative-oriented point-and-click adventure was what stood out to me. As a result of some of the choices I made, and the consequent dialogues, I've taken to headcanoning a distinct personality contrast between an assertive, straight-to-the-point Shannon and an out-of-it Conway given to rambling. Benny happens to be stuck in the middle with these companions of circumstance.

Voted 2 on the basis of game skill, as it takes me an inordinately long time to become anything better than completely terrible at any given game, and even then, it's often only enough to keep pace with the bottom edge of difficulty ramps (ex. Celeste). In the capital G sense, maybe a 3 or a 4, because I'm far from the most conscientious game consumer.

Star Trek is largely a non-factor outside of predominantly English-speaking countries and Northern Europe in general. It's probably on the same level as Avatar, actually, except that those two franchises have different geographical areas of strength.

Also, Disney as a brand name is way up there for sure. If Disney Princesses counts as a franchise, it might be tier 1.

I finally started up Kentucky Route Zero today, completing Act I as well as Limits & Demonstrations. I had heard I'd be able to choose a name for the dog, so I went with the nameless option in hopes I'd get to pick a different moniker than Homer or Blue. That didn't happen, so I've taken to calling him Benny in lieu of the game itself doing so. Otherwise, I'm finding the atmosphere outright palpable so far.
