Agree with halfsilver. Kim is Harry's companion from the very beginning of Disco Elysium AFAIK, and I do believe he's widely considered the game's standout character, so perhaps he's on par with Harry on such a protagonist-oriented site.

I'll go with Low Fodder for all three. Talim is reportedly the most popular SC character among the fanbase, ahead of Ivy, Taki, and Sophitia, all of whom we've placed at Mid. However, there's no evidence more than a minimal SC fanbase persists here. That leaves Talim with her SCII introduction at a shortfall relative to the aforementioned three, who had all established their positions as series staples by then, before voters likely stopped caring about the series.

As for the others, ED looked not-completely-terrible in GotD and remains well-remembered by its players, and Pious seems to have the most screentime of its cast; meanwhile, I'm simply not convinced that voters care about Winnie the Pooh in general whatsoever.

And it's even less of a comparable situation because it's a remake. Remake winning GotY at all will portend well for its characters.

Even if so, it's not exactly as though there's any precedent for some midcarder game that struggled to even win GotY here taking even an established character from narrowly ahead of Fox all the way to nipping at Sonic's heels. And if FF7R struggles in a year that's this weak at the top, that's probably about all it amounts to.

Agree with Axem. The Plant seems iconic enough as a Mario enemy to reach the upper end of Low Fodder from that alone, and then even a marginal Smash vote puts it over the top from there. Plus, I quite doubt it'll be worse than a practical one-game enemy (the Angry Sun) on a site that's largely over jokes nowadays.

Agree with halfsilver I suppose. I see no good reason why a normal Kanto evolution would be worse off than a trade-only Johto evolution in these contests.

As for Banjo, I still hold that it wouldn't make sense for him to be the only platformer main protagonist (unless you count Cuphead as a platformer I guess) to be distinctly weaker than their strongest game, and also that he's never had a fair draw to test that. However, I'll concede that the Smash vote I was partly banking on last time is probably greatly diluted (even more for Banjo alone) now that the hype and surprise factor are gone and B-K have become just another Smash character.

Re-rank Birdo on similar merits to Piranha Plant yesterday, only she trades a total lack of a playable Smash appearance for explicit characterization and staple status in Mario spinoffs.

I'm still going to say Mid Fodder for Zangief because I'm not convinced he's a step above Guile - among the SF fanbase, sure, but I don't think that really matters on GameFAQs. Also, I'm loath to overrate my favorite SF character.
