The idea is that as you become more scarce and less interested, you become more appealing and maybe they start missing you and realize they actually wanted moreI thought the idea is to distance yourself from an unhealthy situation. It's not good to stay so close to someone causing you those feelings when there's no chance at reciprocation. It'll just end up hurting you both. He claimed to have started some kind of mental health clinic in California when he was young. He was pushing 80 when he was my therapist. Said he had retired a long time ago and was just doing it as a hobby now. So... I was a little suspicious of him at that point, as I didn't know providing therapy was a "hobby" one could choose. He spent most of our sessions on the phone, and talking about himself too. The things we did discuss about my life, he didn't remember the next session. It seriously came out of the blue though, like it was a normal session, then "Hey, about your dick? Is it big or what?"
