| saspa 06/05/21 3:45:19 AM #7 | Shrugs I'll never understand this mentality of forcefully trying something. If I'm not into something I won't bother wiking the plot or anything, I'll just move on. No need to force yourself through something with the billions of other types of media and stories out there imo, especially in modern times. I just beat this game a few weeks ago, and it was one of the greatest games I ever played, I couldn't believe it shared its name with that cheesy 2000s series. From the very opening intro it felt like an entirely different type of game, with a Gladiator-esque soundtrack and a nuance that had never ever been present in the series. I'm already prone to loving family relationships in stories, be it father-son, brother-brother, or what have you, but the fact that it was presented in such a heartfelt and sometimes heart wrenching way really gives you the immediate impression that this is a game the people behind it poured all their love and care and attention into. The fact that it's gorgeous and so well polished just adds to the experience. I remember thinking there's no way I'd ever liked it based on gameplay videos, but it truly shows what I'd always known that trying out a game is definitely vital and way different than simply skimming a youtube video. --- |

With The Boys, I think you have to go into it knowing it's more of a dark comedy. It's so ridiculous at times it borders on levity and with that in mind, it kind of frames the whole show. Interestingly both shows seem to possibly retcon something that was implied previously. With Invincible it's certainly meant to be a lot more serious... but still I can't help but find it interesting just how much of its plot and general arcs have been done to death by many other shows. Still a show I'd like to see, but it makes me wonder how unique the comic would have been back in the 2000s --- |
