To me this is whatever. The owl statues that were in the game weren't spread far enough apart to be an inconvenience to me. It's nice to have but doesn't bother me that much. I've gotten used to fairly significant features being locked behind amiibo for a while now. I can access those features anyway.

What I am more peeved about is that there doesn't seem to be much different with the remaster other than the option for no motion controls and they're charging full price for it.

Disagreed. 5 and 6 went in the wrong direction by just going balls deep into "action game" territory, but 7 and 8, the recent remakes, and the Revelations games are the right direction.

Yeah, it has a long-ass tutorial and it's also extremely long, but I enjoyed it.

Also the dungeon aspect of Okami is pretty weak, it excels more in the overworld stuff.

I'm thinking that might be Cloud and Sephiroth. Sakurai mentioned during development that there was a particular character that was a pain to come back for Ultimate, and considering how little came with Cloud (even less than in Smash 4, IIRC) that was probably it. IP rights are weird with Final Fantasy, I'm guessing.

The first game though, that would be much less controversial.

With the rumors/news of a TLOU1 remake, that has a lot of potential to actually be a masterpiece if they don't screw with the story. I loved the story in TLOU1 but thought TLOU2's gameplay and level design was far better. So just remake the gameplay side of TLOU1 and it could be legit excellent.

Good game but not a masterpiece. I know a ton of work was put into it and it shows, but the story and characterization is pretty divisive. I personally felt it dragged on considering how the story was split.

Managed to snag one about 30 minutes ago during the Gamestop restock. Bundle was $730 with a $20 Gamestop gift card (online only purchases), MLB The Show 21 (snore), Returnal, and an extra controller so I guess it wasn't too bad.

It's a vicious cycle. To make more money they need to go multiplatform and make their games better available, but they possibly don't have the money to actually do so, so they're in perpetual limbo.

This is where Sega should step in and offer the funding for that, IMO. Atlus can fund the actual production of their games, Sega funds distribution. Should be a win-win.

I would go with the latter. I dunno how it is with TC's employer, but here you literally have to ask for vacation time off several weeks in advance. If they accept it but still give you a hard time for any of the other reasons, then maybe they shouldn't have accepted it in the first place.

I think for the Revelations titles it's moreso that people just don't talk about them compared to the main numbered titles. I haven't personally seen too many people dislike them (though I have seen complaints about lack of enemy variety in Rev1).

Most of the numbered titles are worth playing except for 6 and maybe 5 unless you can do co-op. The Revelations titles and Code Veronica are good as well.

I personally enjoyed 6 but a lot of people didn't, so I'm not including that.

You aren't buying a Nintendo console for the power.

As it stands now even some first-party games struggle to run/look decently in handheld and docked modes. Xenoblade would look so much better if they didn't have to use that horrid blurry anti-aliasing effect.

A Switch Pro could mitigate this. Sure it's not gonna be as powerful as the PS5/XSX by a long shot but the Switch right now is miles behind.

Isn't the FOV really tight? I know small FOVs make me feel like I'm moving much slower. Like 90 FOV vs 70 FOV. There's so much more moment in the edges of the screen with 90 that I feel like I'm moving twice as fast even at the same movement speed.

Yeah, I heard on PC an FOV fix mod can really make the difference.

A tip for anyone who thinks the game feels sluggish on console: go to the options and try messing with the aiming acceleration. The default setting makes it so that it feels like there's a delay in movement when looking around for some reason.

I had one plain as day come up in my end-of-video recommendations of "Final Boss of Resident Evil 8 (name of boss)" and the thumbnail showing it. Had to hit "not interested" on that shit right away.
