I've invested so much of my heart into this friendship with this person I just want to be good friends with. The early days were fun, she used to seem like she really liked talking to me and wanting to play games. Fast-forward to now, I really feel like I'm only her "I need a favor" or "I need to talk behind this person's back" friend. I'm so desperate to maintain this illusion of friendship, I do whatever favor is requested of me to the best of my ability, and I'll talk bad about anyone with her. These people are so nice to her and me, and then I effortlessly rip on everything about them with her.

My interests, she has no interests in; my ideas, she has no support for; my desire to just play games with her, she just doesn't really want to ever. I just so badly want to feel like I have a friend, but I do not, and I tell myself this all the time, but I just put the mask on the true relationship I have with her in order to feel like I haven't wasted a lot of time, investing my feelings and energy into a friendship that doesn't exist.

I have thrown my morals and a desire to spread positivity away, and it would be irresponsible of me to say it's her fault. I chose to do so, she didn't hold me against my will to say so many mean things and feel hateful towards people. Still, I feel a little trapped because of the fear of emptiness and loneliness. I don't really know what to do.

Some may disagree, but I do say this about the practicality of it. Some people envision their stories being told in a medium but the budget might be high. If CalArts allows people to tell their stories the way they envision (through animation), then I think that is an overall good.

It really does seem like a pointless thing to do because I figure if people like your content they're going to do it anyway.

I think the issue is that sometimes you just forget to.

I have no issue with it because this is a job for many YouTubers, and if you enjoy the content, I don't think a YT'er just trying to make sure they encourage people to keep them in the algorithm is annoying at all. If you dislike a person's content because they ask that you give them a like if you enjoyed the content, then clearly you didn't actually like the content.

A significant portion of those Biden voters may get complacent and not vote in the next election; those 75 million people who voted for trump will vote in the next election if he gets the nomination again, because trumpism is a cult for the stupid, and trump is their orange king.

I feel Trump also does create energy in the democratic-base for voting, though. They seem to have voted in larger numbers to an extent in 2016, definitely in 2018, and then of course in 2020 (although I suppose the encouragement of mail-in might have had a part in that, which please don't see me as saying that is a bad thing, voting should be easy). I could see people not really feeling energetic to vote if it's Biden vs Generic Republican, but if it's Biden vs Trump again, wouldn't that reinvigorate the democrats to vote to ensure his failure once again?

Additionally, over the course of 4-years, the Republicans might start to have lowered enthusiasm towards him just due to not really hearing his name constantly. Don't get me wrong, unless another figure rises like Trump, I see Trump easily winning the nomination if he were to run again, but I just see him fighting a losing battle.

If you mean pure instinct of killing someone = you being killed, I don't think it's really black and white like that. People sometimes get away with it for a long time or forever. Sometimes it's just jail time. I'm wired to always think of consequences of my actions, but I see all the time people doing crazy things not seeing through potential consequences even if they are obvious if you think for two seconds. Like heat of the moment or like I said elevated emotional levels.

Yeah, I suppose that is true. I guess I have to think "have I always done the things that will lead to a more safe life-style?" The answer is no, so I assume we aren't perfect in that regard anyways.

I mean, how would he think he could even win unless Biden really screws up somehow or a large economic crisis happens? He didn't just lose, he got annihilated. People only think it was close because of the fact Trump was winning before mail-in ballots were counted, which were a significant number of votes.

I just don't really see his path to victory if I'm being honest. Additionally, while I do think we need a more proactive president than Biden for the long-term health of the country, Trump is not the kinda proactive I mean. Biden is good for the short-term stability of the country, and I don't mean short-term like a year or just his presidency.

I'd be curious to see a study on if the Japanese system works as a deterrent. In Japan you're never told your execution date, so every day could be your last.

See, I forget what the term is, but you know the behavioral conditioning technique where you keep repeating step B after step A, and even if they are independent, people start to associate them together? The one thing I remember learning, other than with food poisoning for some reason, is that if Step B doesn't happen immediately after A, the less likely it is people associate them together. I wonder if seeing that the death penalty doesn't happen directly after murder makes people not really think of them as a process.

Also, that would be interesting looking at other countries and their capital punishment systems to see why the ones that work do so. I could see that working a little more.

I am not looking for a debate on the ethics of it. I will not respond if you try to question me beyond the OP, but basically I don't believe the government should be putting its own citizens to death when the citizen is perfectly under supervision and control (aka, in a cell). It feels primitive to me, in a way, I don't know. Used to support it back in the day, but I used to be a lot of things that I am not anymore.

The main reason I opened up this topic is the 2nd point. If basic human (animal) instinct is to survive, then why doesn't the death penalty deter? Before you say it does, there are countless studies that point to it not really playing a huge role in stopping murder. If people know that murder may lead to them dying through the death penalty, why does it seem to have little effect on reducing the amount of murder?

Is it the way the death penalty is carried out, with a very long process before anyone will ever actually be put to death? Is it an American/Western culture thing? Am I misunderstanding a basic concept of survival instinct, and using a broad sentence that doesn't actually really convey survival instinct's true nature?

Again, I'm only interested in the 2nd point, so in terms of debating me on the ethics, I'll have to say you are wasting your time.

It's something not really worth getting upset over. I find making my own lists more fun than keeping up with who wins. For example, as a Mario fan, Super Mario Odyssey was my personal 2017 GotY and while it won many awards, I wasn't surprised to see it lose out to BotW. 3D Platformers really aren't the type of games that get pushed for these awards and Mario pretty much is the only contender for the most part nowadays. It's like the Oscars in that regard, people know what films the academy looks for, so no need to feel cheated because the movie that you love that you know the Academy doesn't really value as highly didn't win.

In the end, the legacy a game leaves behind is more important than its award count. OoT isn't remembered because it won a bunch of goty's, it's remembered because people loved it.

I don't usually like the eyes and the lack of any muscle definition on characters. Like, imagine He-Man as a man with just the same body a lot of these cartoons have.

I don't hate it for the most part, I think a lot of the shows are good, and it's not like I hate the designs either. I just wish they would add a little more definition, just a tiny bit to give it more life.

Well, as I said, the story was a dear diary basically. Keep in mind, I don't really remember how it would have started, just the overall basic details of it.
