Wazuki, Serge's dad, accidentally took Serge to Chronopolis to heal Serge from an attack from a demon leopard.

FATE, the mother brain controller of Chronopolis, brainwashed Wazuki and turned him into Serge's worst fear, a leopard while they were trying to heal Serge.

Robo was also there as a computer program. When Serge got healed at Chronopolis, Robo made Serge the master key controller of Chronopolis mainly to keep FATE from having control. It was mainly the control over the usage of an object called the Frozen Flame. FATE then sent Lynx to use the Dragon Tear to switch bodies with Serge so Lynx can use Serge's body to give Chronopolis control back to FATE.

It didn't seriously detract from it either, unless you're of a mind to nitpick. Filter out all of the recruitables that have zero relevance to the plot and you're still left with the primary cast of 4-7 characters and about a dozen noteworthy supporting characters that any comparable JRPG has.

Having a huge cast potentially detracted focus on some other characters. For example, Guile was supposed to be Magus but because the game focused on having a huge cast, there was less focus on the exploration of Guile.

Also, a great part of CT's charm was character development and CC blew it hard on bringing back this charm and you can say having a huge cast fucked it up.

The combat looks so boring and overly complicated and time consuming. I think I would hate playing it.

Combat is quite easy. Equip spells. In battle you build up the ability to use those spells with normal attacks. Use spells to win battle if the auto attacks didn't already.

Also they will add a speed up feature that will make the game go so much faster. If you've played any of SE's recent re-released game then you'll know what I mean.

From outside view, the Time Crash appeared as a giant, black energy dome erupting from the center of the time research institution.

I'm glad this game is getting a remaster so we can further discuss the shitty plot. Just in case you forgot, everything that happened in this game was "masterfully" planned by Belthasar to power up Surge and party to destroy the Time Devourer and save Schala.

Suikoden's gameplay is supposed to be simple, that was its charm if you ask me. The series goes like this for me now:

S2>S5>S1>>>>>S3>>S4

I do have a few complaints, though.

I disliked the war battles. The MC feels like he's the weakest one out of all the MCs in the whole series. MC's Dawn Rune is also pretty bad until end game but it's still not as bad as S4's main rune. I dunno if it was just me but I missed a lot of normal attacks in fights which was super annoying. You're forced to have characters into your party at certain parts of the game and they are always weak as shit. This isn't really a complain for me but the game is a slowburn. It takes a while for things to get moving.

Great game and it did justice to the series. If you're a fan to the series, a fan to JRPGs and still haven't played this game then you need to play it ASAP.

It brought back everything that was great in S1/S2 into this game which S3 and S4 failed to do. Great characters, great storyline, good music, they brought back the world map which was fucking awesome, 6 man party with each character able to do individual actions, towns are huge and lively, NPCs have great dialogue, it's just a very engaging world especially for a PS2 game.

The game dived heavy into the ancient civilization called the Sinders. A lot of game's country is buried with their ruins and the main true rune(The Sun Rune) and its related rune plays straight into them, all at the same time still making them mysterious. It's pretty wild. In fact TONS of shit are left unexplained especially with the introduction of so many new characters.

Leknaat makes her usual appearance but again all she does is tells the MC they are destined to bring people together, save the land, be a leader, that sort of stuff. What's also funny is she doesn't believe in fate/destiny and says the MC can change what is supposed to happen.

The Suikoden world is a HUGE HUGE world. There's are mentions of the other as many characters are not from the MC's land. After finishing this series it feels like these individual games were just small parts for something even bigger. S3 implied that the world's true enemy will eventually be the True Runes themselves.

Rewatch a full match? Not me. If I do I will just go watch the highlights on youtube, but ESPN does replay a lot of great old sports games and finals and Super Bowls so I imagine people do like rewatching full games.

JRPGs are easy and don't require that much strategy. You can clear most of the game by auto attacking.
