Except when I think of an Indian/Pakistani guy fresh off the boat, I usually think of the accent Apu has. And its not necessarily a bad thing. We don't see it negatively, its only when outrage like this occurs that people tend to overreact. Its such a disservice to asian communities when Apu himself encompassed a whole generation of Asians working in the west.
