I don't need to watch Oppenheimer right after do I. I wasn't gonna do the barbieheimer effect but just curious if necessary

Movie was fun. I was banking on liking it because of Greta Gerwig, but I unexpectedly found myself liking margot robbie too. But boy never in a hundred years would I have guessed the plot of the movie being Ken going to the real world and becoming macho alpha and taking over barbie land because he was pining after barbie who isn't particularly interested in him romantically so props to the movie for that.

Yet interestingly enough in a roundabout way the movie still ended up leading to what I assumed the plot was gonna be from the beginning, with Barbie wanting to "be a real boy" since I grew up on those disney channel original movie type films that did this sort of thing all the time. Like remember the lindsay lohan tyra banks doll movie? Anyone?

Was the Orre region's rustic desert look in Pokemon Colosseum meant to make up for the gen 3 games' Hoenn water abundance, what with its too much water especially in Ruby Sapphire Emerald.

So they compensated by giving us this console game where there's actually land (and even a mountain) for us to walk around in and even ride our bikes? Heck even the legendary catdogs showed up on the cover because there's actual land for them to run around in and roam through.

Is anyone else finding it hilariously ironic that Disney used AI to create that awful intro for that stupid secret invasion show, and now Disney is upset that AI uses Disney assets to create sloppies so is trying to sue them?

I know what you mean, it just reminds me of a similar scene in this goofy ass movie called kings man that uses real historical figures for their fanfiction story, and they used Hitler with Stalin in this ridiculously laughable after credits scene that would have reeked of marvel parody if the movie didn't already show it was not particularly smart enough for basic self-awareness.

I thought you meant it's more worrisome with you literally need it in your daily lives; I need to use Google maps to drive to certain locations and avoid heavy traffic congestion with all the roadwork going on. And I need to find a plumber for some bathroom issues so I need to search for some reputable ones. And I need Google on hand just to be able to search words and have translate to know local words and customs, among other things.

Because I know what you mean, 2 months ago I ran out of internet for the first time in my life and I was like wtf this is embarrassing how much I rely on the net. And how I don't really have a "home" internet I use cellular data

Also even if it was true, the hilarious Marvelification or MCU-ification of movies throughout Hollywood is hilarious, like regardless of the genre they do it; in that scene at the end where RDJ was like "who was the one that didn't want to vote against Oppenheimer??!" and they were like "some senator, his name is *looks at file*... Kennedy. John F. Kennedy" like fucking lol.

Um... wouldn't this video be way funnier if the premise changed to diglett using dig, and doduo using fly? and they keep missing each other because of said moves, so the battle goes on forever? I think every pokemon trainer has dealt with that frustration so would find it amusing in a relatable sort of way.

The attack animations--as in, the particle effects--were awful in that game. Thunderbolt was just a bunch of sparkles, and Ice Beam was more like an Ice Chunk. The Flying animation for the move Fly was bugged, where Pokemon were often seen standing in the air, some Pokemon didn't even have proper flying animations (Dragonite and Flygon), and when attacking with Fly, Charizard clipped through the floor.

Paul Rudd hasn't aged. Which means when I think of Paul Rudd, I picture him as he is, and I know him to be a man in his 50s. But when I watch Clueless, I see Paul Rudd, a man I know to be in his 50s, and I see this man flirting with a high school girl. And it creeps me out every time.

Really? That? So the actual plot of the movie with them being step siblings isn't what you find creepy? The fact that the character is already in college hanging with said high school girl isn't what you find creepy?

Even though yes, I too haven't seen one of those in over 15 years, but not sure if due to said antiviruses protecting me or placebo effect.

I point to this post when people say "you don't need an anti-virus anymore" because I'm seriously considering not downloading Avast on my new PC, but hearing these stories makes me think I'm not completely immune from stumbling on 2000s era virus filled websites and might still need it just in case.

It's strange because the apple is never addressed again. Compared to when designing the bomb, thinking of it as being against "a group" like the nazis is certainly a lot less personal or at least a lot less direct than injecting cyanide to kill one specific person, a person that you're going to watch die (compared to lives overseas that are less present in mind)

Even at someone's angriest, having the capability to do that in the first place means you're actually a bit of a psychopath who's likely to do more and worse things throughout your life. This isn't exactly a "one-off" situation. A one-off would be if he maybe struck the professor or maybe ransacked the office in a fit, still psycho but no where near as worrying as doing something as calculated as injecting a poison into a food because that's not something done in haste in a heat of the moment type thing, it's slower and more methodical.

I just started to get ads while opening the browser and going through sites. It updated by itself (of course) and showed a "what's new" tab.

I hope ublock devs find a workaround. Thank goodness firefox is my main browser, but I still haven't removed chrome from the taskbar for some reason.

Yeah this, so guess it's not just me.

For nearly a decade 5 guys was my favorite burger, absolutely delicious and I didn't care about the price. But ever since the pandemic, my local branch has sucked. A lot. The fries are terrible, they don't know how to cook them right anymore. The burger doesn't taste as good, and there's a weird aftertaste with the bun it's hard to describe. It's rather disappointing.

Just an overall shame. But considering the amount of burger places that have popped up, I'm not too saddened over the loss of 5 guys because there are just soo many burger joints that come out so there's always a good one among them

and reverted back to imperfect cell 17.

I feel like I'd be most receptive to thai food since it doesn't have a lot of fermentation type meals and I can eat around the peanut sauce, ideally no sauce is best.

Thoughts on that scene where Emily Blunt comes in and totally owns the interrogation room? Throughout the movie she's been the somewhat long suffering wife of Oppenheimer, sticking with him and enduring hardships, sacrificing her own career etc, and when the interrogators start their harassment with her she completely shuts them down with some sharp words and a cool head.

I think it showed real strength how she stood by him throughout it all.

Hard to believe everyday people actually sat through all of that; if I know the mainstream masses they cannot sit through a movie filled with all talking and very limited explosions.

Interesting that it feels like a culmination of all Nolan's work, further compounded by the fact that they gave him the oscar for it. He did the black-and-white thing from memento, he sprinkled a bit of the prestige in there, he even used that hilarious dude from the dark knight, the psych patient impersonator scene.

But no honestly cilian murphy was fantastic casting. I just saw a picture of oppenheimer and I got chills at how accurate the casting was.

What was the significance of that scene showing oppenheimer do a sociopathic thing like inject cyanide into a person's apple? And who the hell just leaves an apple on a desk sitting out like that? Even after everything that happened in those 3 hours this is the most pressing issue I'm pondering

I have lot of connection with Jurassic Park. It's one of my all time favourite movies. It's the movie I've seen most in a cinema in the 32 years since it's release. Might be the film I've seen most in my life.

It's one of my most vivid memories, watching with my mum and sister when I was 5 years old. It's why triceratops is my favourite dinosaur.

I actually like The Lost World. I like Jurassic World and unlike most people I'm way more positive about Dominion.

Even the two I like the least, III has Spinosaurus which is a great looming menace and Fallen Kingdom has the Indoraptor hunting everyone in the mansion which feels intense.

Jurassic World Rebirth... I've got nothing. It's just bad. Rupert Friend is just the same villain we've seen before, Mahershala Ali has the most flat back story I've seen in years and they tried to inflate it to be this big powerful moment. Scarlet Johanson genuinely added nothing. Mutants were a fucking letdown and nothing new.

The music, it's takes something spectacularly incompetent to use John Williams music and make it feel lifeless and unimpressive. Also there's a scene where it gets used... I don't care what people say, what the characters do is an asshole move.

Honestly this was on the better end of the shitty JP sequels. JP3, Fallen Kingdom, and Dominion are all worse.

Lol remember at the end of jw 2, they hyped up dinosaurs out in the world, and then wasted the entirety of jw 3, which could have been on a pretty cool premise for a popcorn movie... on fucking locusts? How was the writer who came up with that idea not tarred and feathered in the town square? No honestly forget all the injustices going on in the world, I want to find this out.

It's really a shame that this movie is getting trashed, because it was the first Jurassic movie since Jurassic Park 2 that I was interested in seeing. Ah well, saves me the money of seeing it in the theater.

The thing is, even if 99.9% of dog owners were considerate individuals who leashed their dogs at all times and picked up after their dog's poop... all it takes is one, just one dog, to bite someone. There is no "well at least the other 1000 dogs didn't bite" this is an all or nothing type deal. Like the other guy said, you take dogs out of the equation and one would no longer have to worry about running in the park without protection, running through a grass field without stepping in doggy doo-doo, etc

For me, it was several years back when I learned about the fact there was a Robin we never knew called Jason todd and went down an entire wiki spiral reading up on him and how he was killed off because of mail-in votes or dial-in votes where comic book readers could choose to have him either live or die and, they chose die. You can't walk, run, or bike down any rural/country lane without being assaulted by at least half a dozen free-roaming aggressively over-territorial dogs, for the high crime of merely existing within the public right-of-way. Carrying some form of self-defense is a must.

People always say to blame the owner, not the dog. But the simple fact is that when the dog is removed from the equation, the problem goes away.

And you'd better watch your step when walking through literally any park or green-space in a populated area, lest you step in a big ol' pile of dogshit.
