I only ever saw the first Beetlejuice once, back in like the early 90s before. Yesterday I watched it to refresh and then saw the sequel at the theater. So having seen both in 1 day, I didn't understand Lydia's trauma reaction over what happened 30 years ago in the first movie. They make it seem like it was worse than it was. Lydia barely interacted with Beetlejuice for most of the first movie. And it wasn't really that bad what happened. Certainly not something that would impact her so strongly 30 years later still. And then when she does meet him again, she isn't really that scared of him.

Happened back in August. 16 year old girl from Samoa was having mental health issues and had a knife but was mostly calm by the time cops arrived. Cops brushed aside all attempts from her family to deescilate the situation. They then shot her inside her own home. 1 cop shot a taser or some other non lethal device. And AFTER that, a different cop shoots her with a gun. She didn't have to die. Unfortunately the cop lawyers told the cops what to say to make everything go away. No criminal charges. No justice
