Neoliberalism destabilizes old ways of doing things and systems of belief (religion, nationalism, the family etc) and replaces them with the market, while blocking other ways of organizing things (left wing stuff). People end up with people alienated from each other, tons of social upheaval and economic uncertainty, other options are closed off, people get angry and desperate.
People untrained to see things in terms of the real causes of all this and untrained to separate the good developments from the bad blame it all on the most visible symptoms of change, immigrants, colleges, women, LGBT people, changing cultural values, democracy itself. They end up believing if they just throw all that out, they'll get back to the "good old days" that were actually a brief anomaly and a result of a combo of unions and empire/colonialism. They don't see/haven't been allowed to see an alternative based on solidarity. They've been told for decades that this is the only way, the only possibility, but eventually people reject that. But the only options they can fathom are preexisting strong ideas that can compete with the market (strong man politics, violence, nativism, nationalism, patriarchy, heteronormativity, conservative religion). And so every country that does not build a strong working class movement as THE alternative falls to far right BS. lol It's a very effective tactic that white supremacists and fascists use. There's a sense many have that people are labelling others bigoted with little evidence. People like Trump weaponize that vague anti-woke/PC sentiment and fear of being considered bigoted. They say things that ARE blatantly racist, and then retreat behind "they'll call me/you racist for saying this. It lets people voice their worst prejudices and then feel unfairly attacked when they inevitably get called out. Either people start saying racist stuff and get pushback that radicalizes them or they say racist stuff and don't get pushback and that radicalizes them. Democrats are currently the status quo in a time of bubbling discontent. Some Democrats are responding to that with arrogance, some with conspiracy theories, some with pre-blaming the left and the youth and the media, some focused on presenting arguments that only convince the already convinced like focusing on Trump's danger or the wonderfulness of incremental advances Biden has made.
These "debates" I'm seeing around Gaza, around the economy, they don't inspire confidence. There was a much greater sense of togetherness in 2020 and Biden still barely won. The main thing that gives me hope is that the bottom could fall out on Trump due to the trials and Roe v. Wade, and January 6th. The Electoral College, the Senate, the filibuster, the Supreme Court and courts in general, laws restricting free speech, laws restricting protest, laws restricting labor, they'd rather get destroyed figuratively and now literally than touch any of these things. I never liked Clinton and I wanted Sanders to get the nomination, but we need to stop with the narrative in the OP. Clinton didn't lose the election, it was stolen from her. And I don't just mean "she won the popular vote" - Trump didn't legitimately win the electoral colleage, the GOP stole it for him with massive unconstitutional vote suppression. It was Bush in Florida in 2000 all over again, but on a much bigger scale across multiple states. And that's before you consider that there was probably Russian interference on Trump's behalf, equally illegal. This may all be true, but she also did and didn't do enough to lose on her own. And there was already plenty of domestic discontent for Republicans and Russians to work with, that's what both Sanders and Trump relied on. That's why I say the only issue in US politics these days is the GOP menace. Until that is contained, no real progress is possible on any other issue. I agree with this post but I think it conflicts pretty heavily with your prior post saying the only thing you can really fault Biden for is Gaza. That's very much not the case, he has many many other flaws and has since day one. If they can reduce or eliminate the product and if they can charge you over and over for the same thing that used to be a one time purchase, that's better. If things can be made to constantly break down or be stripped down to the bare minimum so you have to purchase back basics, that's great too.
They realize that the people who have the real money mostly haven't gotten it by doing work. Actually competing in the marketplace by producing good products and services is messy, expensive, and uncertain. The truly wealthy got there a much easier way. They got it through owning things and owning rights that create money by existing. Board and Obergefell/expansion of rights are the outliers that they point to when questioned and to keep the investment of liberals in the institution. Generally, they're restricting real democracy, labor rights, privileging property and capital, expanding the police and surveillance state, etc.

But if you simply refrain from doing the batshit stuff and don't fundamentally change/improve anything, you'll just be back in the same position at the next general when people turn on a do nothing Labour party. It's so predictable it's borderline guaranteed. And it'll be even worse next time after X years of additional conservative brain rot, economic decline, and left wing demobilization.
