Not one.

It's way past time to break up the oligopolies that have a stranglehold in each industry. We get things like ridiculous price hikes on eggs because there are only three big suppliers and one was significantly impacted by bird flu, so the other two just jacked up prices to take advantage and the jacking didn't stop until the government threatened to investigate, then prices magically went down but still stayed way above what it was before the price hikes.

What should be tracked then?

Often when "the economy" is being reported on, it's tracking things like the stock market, GDP, consumer spending, raw unemployment numbers, and pricing on a basket of goods. These are misleading because:

• Over 90% of the stock market is owned by 10% of people and the rest have the bulk of their investments in a retirement account which won't help them until decades from now.
• GDP is a shitty measure that often doesn't even track production. To give a prime example, in Canada housing makes up almost 40% of GDP because house prices and rents are so ridiculously high but they're not constructing all that many homes, certainly not enough to meet demand.
• Consumer spending going up especially these days is mostly down to price gouging, you know, "inflation".
• Unemployment numbers don't take into account that a significant bulk of jobs nowadays is shitty gig work that doesn't pay well. It also doesn't count people who've stopped looking for work.
• The basket of goods is changed for "equivalents" but these "equivalents" are usually cheaper alternatives to make the numbers look good. Plus inflation has other forms in shrinking sizes and shittier parts/ingredients.

There are probably more insightful numbers out there being tracked, but they're largely not reported on. Of course, anyone can play with numbers to paint whatever picture they want, but if personal sentiment is down, I think it's a strong indicator because that's people reporting on their own situation instead of being abstracted out. It can't be blamed on media because there has always been doom and gloom reporting, this variable hasn't changed. Hell, if anything the media is strangely optimistic with many stories about how "the soft landing has been achieved!" and "the economy is doing amazing, so why are people sad??"

People are mad. They deserve to be. The economy is doing well, but it doesn't feel like it because, while yes statistics show that wages go up... that's not the whole picture, naturally.

You have states like mine which haven't seen any real wage push since like 2018. You have states like California which, we all know the recent Fast Food worker pay "debacle"(god forbid workers get paid in a way they can actually live where they work, or at least decently close to). And I can guarantee you I know a lot of people still making close to minimum wage and having seen barely 5% pay increase since the beginning of COVID.

It's complex, as said, and yeah, some areas are seeing a "vibecession" of sorts--where the sentiment doesn't match reality. Then there's places like where I live, where there's the very real possibility that this entire town is going to collapse under the weight of costs, as it's a smaller one.

It doesn't seem like you're saying much of anything. You're saying people are mad and they deserve to be but also that the economy is doing well. Nobody is looking at a healthy bank account and being mad because news outlets are pretending everything is awful. People are citing that they're having trouble paying their bills. It's not just a matter of sentiment. The issue is that "the economy" is tracking the wrong things for the vast majority of people.

but looking at my own grocery bills, the real increase is around 50% to 100% and mostly in the higher part of that range. I've seen some prices start to go down slightly, but only after absolutely bonkers price increases, still way higher than just a few years ago (egg prices in particular went from sub-$1 a dozen to $6 and settled to around $2 where I'm at).

That's if you believe we've only had about 20% cumulative inflation since covid (and let's just disregard shrinkflation and shitflation). The lowest earners are going to have the highest growth because going from $10/hr to $12/hr is an easy 20% increase, but it's still an unlivable wage in this high inflation environment.

I was never big on reveals since a lot of the hype cycle is on twitter which I'm not on. From what I've seen, the twitter banter is usually silly and any videos are just simple model movements or lore drops, neither of which give any idea of what the person is actually like (especially since people often drop any pretense of lore shortly after debut, if not in the debut itself).

Nijisanji (at least the EN branch) being so poorly managed definitely puts a damper on things, but the talents themselves can still be entertaining. I'll still tune into streams by Rosemi, Doppio, Scarle, and Kunai among others from time to time. I feel sorry for the talents who are getting shit on just by association with the company.

There are so many people, organizations and governments that will not replace X86 chips for at least another 50 years. Realistically they won't be replaced until Intel/AMD replace them. Also AMD has an Arm CPU design in the works right now.

Are they using them because that's the hardware available (e.g. desktops/laptops) or are they using them because they have a hard requirement for x86? ARM is just getting started in the desktop/laptop space with Apple's M-series chips being a major blow to x86 dominance. Also, x86 emulation on ARM is actually great right now, with it being more than suitable for normal office software, if need be.

Do you have more information on the ARM CPU design from AMD? How those CPUs are planned to be used makes all the difference.

X86 processors that only AMD and intel can make, that the western world's governments rely on. GPU market where it's so hard to actually break in, intel has 30 years of graphics experience but their current GPU drivers and architecture id problematic during the time they chose to make discreet desktop graphics cards and their product is a joke, don't expect another company to actually enter that market.

AMD and Nvidia will remain major players in the server market even as intel continues to lose there. Intel's Lunar Lake looks to be quite competitive with the Snapdragon X Elite so ARM for Windows isn't going to stroll to victory easily, although they do have a lot of designs.

AMD will continue to own the premium console market and their upcoming Strix Halo APU(8/12/16 Zen 5 cores with a RDNA 3.5 GPU with higher specs than the PS5's GPU) will be great for high end gaming laptops and can power a 1440P mid range gaming PC alone with no discreet GPU.

Only AMD and Intel can make x86 processors, but ARM dominates phones and is making its way into datacenter (where power consumption is getting more important) and even desktops/laptops.

Gaming hardware is looking at a decline, even NVIDIA reported a decline in gaming revenues. The margin on console hardware isn't great and high-end PC gaming is becoming more niche as prices have been squeezed way too high on AI overhype and people have settled for less powerful hardware in response.

Having to wade through shitty websites that use it to write garbage articles filled with fluff when I just want to look something simple up.
