I think Hooters business model in general (and all these other restaurants who live off of hot waitresses) is kind of slimy and awful, and not something that personally appeals to me.

At the same time, that is literally why these restaurants exist. As long as there are girls willing to consent to it I'm not sure people have any grounds to complain about it. You can always work at another restaurant that's less gross, but being gross is Hooter's niche.

The action looks really good. The tone and characters feel tired and like something from at least 15 years ago.

It's unfair that because we had a couple bad movies with Batman and Robin we can never have anything even close to that Batman ever again, and he's instead morphed into the "gritty" super hero.

I was thinking the other day it would be weird if we met aliens who were cultured and intelligent but had a very animal like attitude towards sex, where they just fuck wherever and don't see it as shameful or private at all.

That said there are animals that will only fuck privately, I think one of the reasons we never bred zebras in captivity is they won't fuck in front of people.

I wasn't crazy about AM2R. I think I just don't like Metroid 2 in general. Any version of it I've idk just doesn't do it for me

The fundamental issue with Metroid 2 is you're fighting the same boss repeatedly, as the core of the game. It's a questionable design decision from the Gameboy classic, that can't really be removed without changing the whole nature of the game.

Well it's definitely not Zero Mission. The game tells you where to go after every upgrade you get, and like 50% of the optional items you can't even get until the very end of the game.

Telling you where to go doesn't actually affect how linear the game is. It's a very open game that appears extremely linear if you follow the steps laid out for you.

Solid 8/10. Overall design is awesome. The control scheme is a god damn mess and that brings it down a bit. But, all in all, pretty great game.

I cannot fucking believe in the year of our Lord 2021 I need to hold down three buttons and aim with the analog stick to use the grapple beam.

I also can't believe people are praising QTEs as some kind of revolutionary concept in game design.

Much of white supremacy has historical roots in misogyny and a strong alpha male archetype. This is an extensive topic that probably warrants an entire topic about it.

2) He had to die. Because his character is considered sinfully flawed in todays society. How dare he be somewhat of a player. They killed him off like they would a protagonist that has flaws seen as a no no. Think Scarface. The whole movie was about him but since he snorted a little stuff here and there the writers were like, We cant idolize this guy by letting him live. Wow. There's this narrative that pervades a lot of historical study that people just "didn't know any better" or it was "normal for the time". It was easier for people to get away with this stuff sure (and as a result it happened more frequently), but that doesn't mean these people weren't getting ripped on by their contemporaries. The treatment of indigenous peoples in America was a controversial topic for centuries, and it's a disservice to the good people who were alive back then to celebrate those who committed genocide because they had more of an "impact" on history.

I'm sure in a hundred years time it will be said that the capitol rioters, anti vaxxers and neo-fascists werent bad by the standards of the 2020s, and it will be just as wrong then.

One thing that bugged me personally

was his hair at the end. I know its a petty gripe but he looked so cool with his hair long an unkempt.

I've seen it said that it was supposed to be symbolic or some shit, but it looked dumb as hell. He should have worn an actual squid on his head.

In other Netflix news, anyone checked out Midnight Mass? I just finished it tonight, it's pretty good as a character driven religious/horror show. Not very scary though, if that's what you're into.
