While it's true that the workers there are responsible for losing their own jobs because they spoke up, it's a difficult choice to make when your business isn't following guidelines properly.

My cousin I live with is a brick layer, so he works on construction jobs. His job has safety meetings every morning to go over the job and what's going on. They hold it in a small cramped trailer with 20 people for 45 minutes. 15-20 minutes of that was just a dumb morale boosting thing where the presenter tells "fun facts" as a way to keep things friendly. They were always doing that so they kept doing it now.

They were still doing this last week. They didn't think they should stop doing this, even though my cousin and others were complaining that they aren't supposed to be in close quarters like this. The boss gave people shit and said if they don't like it they can get the fuck out.

So if you are a worker and you KNOW your business is practicing very unsafe standards, what do you do? Keep quiet and keep standing in a trailer with 20 people shoulder to shoulder every day?

Then he came down with corona like symptoms on Thursday and is now out of work anyways. I had to report this to my boss so now I'm isolated for two weeks working from home to see if I develope symptoms. And my brother, a pharmacist, must now also isolate for two weeks.

So what do you do when your work place is not following proper guidelines on social distancing and keeping things safe for everyone? Do you keep quiet because if you don't your job might shut down?

I would guess it took somewhere between 5-15 minutes per trip. you can only buy them in increments of 5 at the store, so since they stack to 10, you gotta buy it 60 times. It can sell all at once though.

Did you guys know you can make free money by buying fruit at your shop for 400 and going to a friends island with a different fruit and selling for 500? Then you can buy their fruit for 400 and come back to your island and sell it for 500. ITS FREE MONEY

The axe thing is kind of unintuitive!

A flimsy axe can upgrade to either a Stone Axe or an Axe (made with Iron).

Stone Axe will cut three times and give wood each time, then just do nothing, leaving the tree up

Axe will cut two times and give wood each time, then the third cut will cut the tree down and not even give wood. Doesn't seem good for actually collecting wood.

So I have one Axe for when I want to actually destroy a tree, but if I want to harvest lumber I just use Stone Axes.

i'm technically allowed to work from home now but i haven't started it yet

Technically I can do pretty much anything I need to do remotely (especially once I set up my monitors and stuff properly) but I suspect I'll be less efficient. Working from home in the evenings and weekends is always less efficient than if I just work in the office.

I think it's a mindset thing - I just find it hard into get into work mode in that environment.

I've only played it a bit, did all of the AI battles to learn the game. It seems pretty fun, and I definitely think they cracked the code on how to make card acquisition work in a way that Hearthstone doesn't.

What I'm wondering is if it's possible to go too strict with your measures too fast, so that the flattened curve never really starts growing. If that curve doesn't see enough growth, then eventually when measures do get relaxed, (and the measures do have to be relaxed some day) herd immunity will not have developed at all and you'll just get the original giant spike that you were hoping to avoid

So is there a level of isolation that's too strict? If you cancel school, everyone works from home, you can't go to restaurants, will it spread enough to keep a healthy growth in immunity?

What if you cancel food take out? Does THAT push it into too strict?

Some cities like NYC may already be well into spreading stages and need to take these measures, but what if you have a city that's barely had any impact yet?

That's definitely the plan and I've come around to the idea of it being a good one

But if we cancel literally everything and keep everyone in their homes, couldn't we be limiting it from spreading TOO much? For this plan to be effective, I think it's critical that some proportion of the population gets it. If we isolate now before too many people have it then isn't this just a holding measure?

Is there such a thing as limiting the curve too much?

Like part of this approach requires some amount of people to still get infected and go through the process of the disease, recieve treatment if necessary, and then be immune right?

That way there's not a giant spike all at once. Otherwise, when people eventually need to return to work, everyone will still be ripe for infection and shoot to the top of the curve again. If we completely stop the spread now then it'll be just as bad later.

My province is apparently handing down a labour law that businesses must provide 14 days of paid leave to employees for taking isolation leave. Also saying the businesses will be reimbursed for it so it's not a burden, just maybe a cash flow issue, for that business to do this. It's not clear how the province will actually fund this....

Anyway, this is an interesting problem to figure out accounting wise to deal with as an employer with hundreds of retail locations and a large head office that may all have employees that need to take this kind of leave. I guess instead of an expense I'll treat this as a receivable. I'll also need to figure out how to track this so that we can ask the govt to pay us back later....

I've heard americans are getting billed like $3k just to get tested, and that doesn't include treatment. That's sounds insane to me but maybe that's normal there. If everyone accrues thousands in medical bills/debt as a result of this at a time where income is also restricted, that sounds like a big problem.

In Canada, the failure would be that people just aren't able to get testing and treatment done in a timely manner.

I wonder if poor performance could provoke a change in either system
