Texas Hold'em is pretty much all that people play these days. That, and to a much lesser extent, Omaha. (Omaha is quite similar to Texas Holdem, except you get four holecards, you have to use exactly two hole cards + three board cards, and it's usually played pot-limit rather than no-limit.)

Most other forms of Poker have become pretty niche now.

I like Omaha better tbh

Agree, tbh. I loved the Split Hold'em that PokerStars offered for a while even more, but they got rid of it.

If you learn Hold'em and Omaha, you'll be able to join 90% of "Poker" matches you encounter.

Add Draw to that and it's 95%, add Stud and it's 98%.

There's millions of games, but those four are likely the only ones you'll ever encounter without going out of your way to find others.

Somewhat true, yeah. Although they introduce yet another new character, Athena, in Dual Destinies, and she's a much better character than Apollo; to the point I was kind of disappointed when her only case in Spirit Of Justice was a relatively short filler case. I wouldn't like to see her outright replace Phoenix as such, but I wouldn't mind a one-off game dedicated to her, or even just for her to have a bit more prominence in the main games.

I have not played that far into Phoenix Wright. Are you implying there's a huge deal breaking flaw with the series?

I'm exaggerating a bit.

Apollo Justice isn't actually a bad game. It's one of those cases of "it's still fairly good, but it's nothing compared to the rest of the series" games. Apollo himself isn't a very interesting character, not even with the further development in DD and SoJ (although this does improve him a bit), and neither is his assistant, which is the game's biggest flaw - the cases themself and overall storyline are fairly decent.

Yes because 32 being the base line is so sensible...

Fahrenheit: "Let's pick some arbitrary thing's temperature and make it 32."
Celcius: "Let's pick some arbitrary thing's temperature and make it 0."
Kelvin / Rankine: "Let's define zero as the lowest possible temperature that can exist."

I'd say celcius isn't much more sensible than fahrenheit, in that regard. Celcius makes more sense to me because I'm used to it, but if I actually think about it, it's really just as arbitrary and nonsensical - the only real difference is how much of a change 1 degree represents.

FF7 is the worst PS1 FF. And it's still great. Just not as great as the other two.

Of the others, I'd say I rank FF8 higher than FF9, but I can definitely see this being more related to personal situations than the quality of the game itself - FF8 was one of the games I grew up with; FF9 I didn't play until significantly later and even to this day I've only played it twice, and only completed it once. FF8 on the other hand, I've played through at least 6-7 times, including a challenge run (kind of a "No GF Lite" - I only disallowed summoning GFs or junctioning magic to stats; everything else, including junctioning magic to elemental / status, was allowed) and a playthrough of a "hard mode" hack, specifically the Playstation version of FF8 Requiem - which on a side note, turned a kinda-too-easy game into one hell of a challenge).

Of course, this is all a moot point, since both SNES and PS2 have an FF each that are superior to anything in the PS1 lineup - FF6 and FFX respectively. (The latter being the best FF of all, IMO.)

I was a somewhat heavy user of those types of products (sometimes, but not always, specifically the K2 brand).

Towards the end of their legality here, they made manufacturers explicitly state on the packaging what the active ingredient was. That was a godsend to me; because I had found some produced nasty side effects and others didn't, and also that some were great while others were useless - making them state the active ingredients helped me stick only to the ones that were both absent of bad effects and actually worked. (CL-2201 was my go-to, with AB-FUBINACA as a backup if no CL-2201 products were available.)

I had heard of people who totally fucked up their lives in it. But upon paying closer attention, there were two things I noticed - firstly, they were always using a PB-22, PB-22F or SGT-xx product; and secondly, they were usually smoking multiple packets a day (whereas for me, the smallest size packages were still a 3-4 day supply).

Almost all the users I knew personally had no problems either while under the influence or from withdrawals when the ban came; and indeed, they mostly had habits and product selections similar to mine. The one person I know who had a hell of a time coming off them, was also the one person I knew personally who fit the above stereotype of problem users - PB-22 / PB-22F / SGT-xx products, insanely heavy use, etc. Aside from him, my own withdrawal was the worst I noticed among people I know personally, and it was still less severe than how I'd be if I went a day without caffiene.

It's a bit of a moot point here now though, as all synthetics have been illegal since mid 2014; the black market ones are about as trustworthy as the average politician; and we're very likely going to be legalizing the real stuff by 2020 (and it's already fairly tolerated; they'll only bother to bust you over it if you're found to be in posession while committing another crime, or if you're supplying to under-18s, or if you're a large scale dealer).

Changing characters for no reason is exactly what people have a problem with.

By all means, create a spinoff or an entirely new series focusing on a different character, and make that character whatever. There's plenty of media out there with minority / female / LGBT leads, that have done well; which were always intended to have such a character. What kind of media with them fails, though? Those that take an existing character and make them minority / female / LGBT for no reason.

It's happened with virtually every media that's tried to do that. You'd think they'd realise it by now. It's proven to be unprofitable, and yet they continue to do it, which can only mean one of two things... either they're more interested in causing outrage itself (either for the lulz or for some greater goal), or they're stupid. And I somewhat doubt they're stupid.

IMO, there are three factors that need to be taken into account:
- The timing. If it's something from a few years before they even started the job, then no, not fair.
- Whether their profile has any links to the business. If their profile states "Employed at ______", then that could justify it. Whereas if it's on an anonymous page, or their profile has no links whatsoever to the business, then not so justified.
- How serious the post is. A post calling for the extermination of a race could justify it, while a pun on a racial slur posted just for the humor definitely doesn't. (Using two extremes here, but you get the point.)

Completed that case now. I still need to play Turnabout Time Traveller so no spoilers for that one please. (Unfortunately, the Asinine Attorney cases aren't available on the Android version.)

So, turns out Garan was indeed the killer. As much as things weren't pointing that way at the time, I guess it's to be expected, they tried too hard to set her up as a villian. Nonetheless, the other twists in the case, as well as figuring out exactly how that worked (and getting around her attempt to prevent you accusing her) was still pretty impressive.

So - while I do still have the DLC case to go - at this point, I'd say that while SoJ was great, I'd still put it second to Dual Destinies for best game overall (and I'd still say Bridge To The Turnabout from T&T is the best individual case of all).

And I was quite happy when the ending implied we might not see Apollo as a major character in the next game. I can't say I'm a huge fan of him.

Bump, so I can come back and read everything once I've completed the game.

I'm up to the 2nd day's trial now, I stopped playing around when Rayfa attempted to do the Divination Seance again, after failing the first time. (Spoilers for AA1, AA3 and AA6 in here) Interesting twist that Ga'ran is the prosecutor, even after it set us up to expect Nahyuta. With that being said, hopefully it doesn't turn out she's the killer (of course she at least knows a lot, and probably is deeply involved in the coverup); if she is, that'd be the third time now they've done "the prosecutor is the killer", and they also did this the only other time an entirely new prosecutor (not just a returning one from an older game) showed up for the final case. Though at this point, I'm primarily suspecting Nayna, with my second guess being "it really was Dhurke after all".
