TopicTexas removes 1.9 million children from Medicaid

Didn't read the article, is this where the parent/guardian didn't re enroll the kid for the new plan year?

It's important to note, however, that a substantial number of those who no longer have Medicaid were removed for procedural reasons. The KFF found that 69 percent of those removed no longer had coverage because they didn't complete the renewal process.

That frequently happens when states no longer have current contact information for the enrollees or if the enrollee doesn't know or understand how to complete the renewal within a set time. In Texas, it accounted for 66 percent of those removed.

i mean, if we just give those kids healthcare for free, we'll just setup a lifetime of expectations to receive handouts instead of learning to be self reliant. we are literally doing them a disservice by giving them things.

Sadly a large percentage of these people likely would not support these actions provided they were actually properly educated on what was going on instead of just taking Fox News at face value.

this is why conservatives _hate_ education for the masses

this is literally what the people of Texas voted for because they believe in the rugged individualism that makes us tough, not that wimpy socialism. so the folks of Texas want these kids to go dig up some bootstraps, get a job and pay their own way.

Pigs are smart animals as well but people still eat them.

People are weird about which meat they do and do not eat in general

yup. pigs are smarter than dogs, but most people consciously object to eating the latter. i also find it weird that so many people use intelligence as a barometer to determine if it's acceptable to slaughter a creature because you enjoy how its flesh tastes. it seems almost unanimous that we don't selectively apply morality to humans based on their intelligence (ie dumb people deserve the same treatment as smart people), so why do we treat animals that way?

it really just comes down to "i have some personal attachment to a member of that species = don't eat".

no, and i dont consider public schools to be 'pubic assistance' in the same way i dont consider roads 'public assistance'. they're things everyone has access to regardless of income level. imo 'public assistance' is a service reserved for people who qualify by being under an income threshold.

yeah that's the impression i got. they do all these 'things' to the control board and i hear zero difference in the sound. im not doubting the effort that goes into making the music, just what effect their actions actually have during the performance. they're basically glorified lip syncers when they 'perform'

every single time i go to a show where a DJ performs, i try and try to figure out what they're actually doing when they turn those little knobs or hit the buttons, because i cannot ever actually hear any discernible difference based on the actions they're taking. i swear most of them use pre-recorded music and just stand up there acting.

the original Zelda was the first game i got really 'lost' in, and is where i found my love for exploration in gaming.

FFVI was the first JRPG i enjoyed. i tried IV, but was too young to appreciate story and thought the 'guys running up to attack the air' was stupid. a few years later, i was enticed by the aesthetics of VI and gave it a shot. JRPGs became my favorite genre for like 20 years.

Dark Souls because it showed me Soulsborne, which became my new favorite genre.

i was all ready to be angry about this, then i listened to the video. the guy is arguing that "same sex first-cousins" should be allowed to get married because that presents no risk to public health, like it does with hetero first-cousins, since there's no chance for offspring. it's hard to argue against that, tbh.
