i remember i think i had gtm over and we were playing hacked brawl and i completely forgot (because this was years after relevancy of the wii) I had a hack that makes peach hentai pop up during her final smash and then it suddenly came up and we burst out laughing

hacked brawl was good times

it also lets me relate to that recent chun-li tournament

Ultimate had a lot of improvement over Smash 4, but yeah I loved Smash Run and the alt specials

People like raising a lot of Pokemon, so running into easier content later was a good excuse to train up some more Pokemon.

This has always been it for me with level scaling. I don't just mean for S/V but ever since EXP Share changed the game it's always enabled me to switch-up my teams to fit where I am and make the most of my battles

tera transformations seem terrible - what's good about them?

type-change adds a whole 'nother layer of strategy that even made previously unthinkable pokmon viable in new ways - do you wanna just Tera to strengthen your offensive capabilities? boost your natural STAB, turn yourself into a DIFFERENT typing with boosted STAB, or do you want a Tera-type to block your vulnerabilities instead? like for say Slaking, you can Ghost is a popular typing that turns his natural fighting weakness into a ineffective attack while boosting Sucker Punch or Shadow Claw for attacking. Alternative there's Fire-typing to protect against burn without using your item slot for it and keep your powerful attack state

like with Megas/Dynamax you only get one so you gotta spend that tactical decision right and watching people theorize what their opponent might be bringing during the Poke-select is so fascinating

I've seen a lot of battles where a different than Tera-type really turns the battle on its head, with the same Pokemon being capable of entirely different things with that element is incredibly interesting

some Megas offered these tactics, but a) not all Megas and b) only a select few pokemon could go Mega. Tera adds this strategy EVERYWHERE and without limit on which pokemon can be which type

Tera typing is the first actual good mechanic gimmick introduced into Pokemon since the franchise started doing these things (X/Y's Megas)

it astounds me how much it actually improves gameplay rather than just trying to stick some bells & whistles on like Megas/Gigantamax

(that being said Megas certainly are cool I absolutely won't be denying that)

for Pokemon I have a clear top-shelf grouping (GSC > BW/2 > RBY > SV) but the rest I kinda just shrug, think VI might be my next in line

honestly BDSP just brought the generation down for me lmao, I was a big fan of Platinum... and then we get an exact barebones remake that doesn't even have Platinum content wtf

I guess ORAS started that trend of ignoring the third title but at least ORAS did clearly put a lot of work into adding cool new stuff

Let's Go was great, definitely not for everyone because its completely different mechanics, but that at least leaves an impression for me. the model redesigns are perfect & I had a blast shiny hunting. it was a fun way to re-experience Kanto as opposed to BDSP which really just blends the fuck in with your memories of the original

ofc S/V is the bets shiny hunt game ever tho

definitely the inferior Switch game, really not a fan of the world but at least the big zones were a start to S/V realizing what I actually wanted. Marnie & Leon were cool tho and Nessa's a top-tier gym leader design. Team Yell tho uhhhh fuck no that has to be the worst antagonist org in the series

it did however have real bangin' costumes which where SORELY missed from S/V like wtaf how did S/V step down there so bad it's honestly concerning (even to S/V at the same time greatly improved facial customization)

S/V's the first Pokemon game since B/W to really feel special to me
