Okay but even then whats the connection for older conservatives?

I mean being a conservative should mean you are pro small government, pro businsess and free market enterprise, pro minimum interference in people's lives. Pro civil liberty and freedoms. But then there's also all this baggage where you're supposed to also be anti-homosexual and anti-drug and anti immigration and pro religion (Even though Jesus was a super hyper liberal hippie)

I don't get how those things connect. Imagine if basketball players sterotypically hated dogs. It would be seen as really weird and unrelated.

Where is the connection between small government/pro enterprise and anti gays? If anything shouldn't the small government people be pro homoexuality and the the big government people be pro interference?

On paper anyway

If you're suggesting that the "ritual" is 'man asks woman' then that's not only false even for straight couples, but also never applicable to samesex couples. So to answer your question there is no ritual. You've got a round hole and we're a bunch of square pegs.

Gay people go over the proposition ritual.

I felt more loved in that moment than I had any other point before in my life.

Begging your pardon sir but don't you think that is an effeminate thing to say?

Asherlee10 posted...

Yes, you did ask how we propose. But in the post I quoted, you questioned "why even do the ritual at all?" Again, just because all the heteronormative practices do not match up to homosexuals doesn't mean we should forego proposing or marriage for that matter.

It would be strange if someone I was not dating proposed to me. Why is that relevant?

I meant a man you have been dating for years

If not inferior, they why would being perceived as "the woman in the relationship" be insulting?

Because they are male. Would you not be insulted if someone got you a bra, tampons and lipstick?

you think men who get proposed to are "less of a man" or something?

Yes.

Because asking someone to spend the rest of their life with you and stating that you'd like to spend the rest of your life with them is a very powerful statement, hopefully met with positively, and then officialized with vows in front of friends and family while also granting quality of life boons to the couple, as a couple, with regards to all manner of legal, medical, and logistical rights and privileges?

This explains marriage. not proposing rituals.

Asherlee10 posted...
Guns_of_Verdun posted...
But then why do the ritual at all? Why not just not bother if you deny the tradition exists?

"We traditionally do the tradition but we don't follow the tradition." doesn't make sense. Why propose at all?

Just because gender roles are not the same in homosexual relationships as they are in heterosexual relationships doesn't mean that homosexuals should completely abandon marriage. That is completely absurd.

I didn't say they should. I asked how they propose.

I mean how would you react if a man proposed to you?

You're trying to apply heteronormative standards to a homosexual relationship. Stop. It just doesn't work that way and neither party sees the other as inferior if that's the implication you're going for.

Not inferior but female.

Don't tell me you don't see those as different things, jeez.

Asherlee10 posted...

You should probably stop trying to force heteronormative traditions onto homosexual relationships. Yes, there are a lot of similarities between the two, but in this case it is not. There doesn't HAVE to be opposite gender roles in gay relationships.

But then why do the ritual at all? Why not just not bother if you deny the tradition exists?

"We traditionally do the tradition but we don't follow the tradition." doesn't make sense. Why propose at all?

Traditionally the man proposes to the woman for traditional couples. At least that is the ritual.

But with gay marriage the sexes are the same. So if a man proposes to another man. Isn't that kind of insulting the reviecer of the proposition? Basically saying "you're like a girl and i am the man"

Equally with lesbian couples isn't it kinda insulting for the one proposing? Saying she is like a man at least by tradition.

Wouldn't a lesbian couple both want the other to propose and a gay couple be pissed if the other proposed?

I mean the tradition still exists. Gay couples wear wedding rings so someone proposed.

How do they work it out?

Originality isn't as important as the execution, which is really where The Last of Us shines.

Which is what? The voice acting? The pace? Give me some details because the "execution" is still similar to me as you would predict in a game such as this.

Cool story were interesting people go on an odyssey across a new and interesting world while we learn about the people in it and their struggles before witnessnessing the snap and decline of a man who has lost everything and is unwilling to do so again after scraping a life back.

Also it had decent if nothing special combat and crafting to keep the game going.

It really was a well executed game. Ellie is one of the few actually likable "escorts" in video game history

it's incredible. absolute denial at the fact she's fallen flat on her face, and there's no public outcry from the tories since they're scared they'll lose out even more in the next election

also the fact that she's spineless, soulless and uncompassionate, working with DUP who are the same

this sounds far too familiar to what's happening across the pond

DUP are far worse. Makes me feel sad for our Irish brethren who will be kept in the past and not able to (easily) take advantage of what we consider basic rights.

The DUP will get a lot out of this deal. It won't be like the lib dems.

It's smart of them to take it. The alliance and ability to mess with government > 10 seats
