I haven't actually gone vegetarian but I do tend to avoid red meat now for health reasons. The occasional In-N-Out or a nice steak for a special dinner with friends is my only real time I'll eat red meat. In some places I actually would choose a tofu dishes but the issue with tofu is that it has to be done right to be good. Tofu for the most part take on whatever flavour it is cooked with but some places do not do that properly.

I have mixed opinions about them. On one hand, they deserve some sort of reparation for past transgressions. I know it wouldn't have sold as many tickets, but a heist movie featuring all brand new characters that just happened to take place in the Star Wars universe that they could have gotten more creative with without trying to link everything to the old characters would have been more interesting to me.

Fair point. I do feel if properly done, a movie wouldn't need key characters to stand on its own. At the same time, having said key characters is itself a form of advertisement.

Over the years and after reading over a hundred Star Wars books I think I started to enjoy the various side stories/books more so than the "main" stories/books. It isn't so much that I grew bored of Luke, Han, Leia, and their families but rather I want to experience more of Star Wars from the "little guys" point-of-view. I think that's why the X-Wing series is my overall favorite, even over that of the Thrawn series and even the "Tales from . . . . ." series.

Almost nothing of importance happens because it can't because it would change the lore since this takes place too close to Episode 4.

Personally for me, even if we have a general idea of what is not going to happen because we know certain characters will survive, I'd still read/watch it. As cliche as it sounds, it isn't about the destination but the journey and to me these side stories gives us more glimpses of the Star Wars universe. Some of us have already "seen" some of these via the books but I still enjoy seeing it on the big picture.

Without it taking place in the Star Wars universe, this woulda been like any other heist movie with the typical ingredients (i.e. the girl from a past life, betrayal, a mentor of sort, etc.) But it taking place within the Star Wars universe is enough for me to want to see it even if it adds nothing new to the overall story.

ForteEXE3850 posted...
But if you look at it as just an action film, and not a Star Wars film, it's okay.

What would define a Star Wars film? I don't disagree with you and I do feel this is just a heist movie taking place in the Star Wars universe with some major Star Wars character. But what elements you feel are needed to make a film into a "Star Wars" film.

Realistically how strong do those even hold up in court? Not directly related but years ago I was with friends who were bungee jumping off a bridge and same thing, they all signed a waiver saying they will not hold the bungee company at fault should anything goes wrong. A bungee jumper off to the side commented that the waiver will not hold up in court. I've heard this mentioned before when to other waivers.

On one hand, yes, the jumpers signed the waiver. On the other hand, should the equipment be faulty in anyway, who is really to blame? The jumpers for doing it with the assumption said equipment is safe or the company for letting faulty equipment slip by?

The man who came at the driver with a cone then attempts to get in her car on the passenger side to stop her driving any further.

Could he actually be charged with breaking-n-entering even in that scenario? I only ask cause I can't help but feel depending on the location, some laws might exist in regards to that.

According to them, when traveling one needs to be patient, flexible, and able to adapt. They may have also mentioned ones interaction with the locals. Said couple would actually pay for the traveling expenses of their daughter's boyfriends to see if they are "the one"

Marriage is just a symbol too.

I can agree with that hence why I feel how one act is more important than the name or marriage license. If there wasn't financial perks to being married and/or legal documentations, I'd say the act of being married serve no real purpose. I have two sets of friends buying their houses before getting married. They were together for several years and were practically married in all but name and documentations.

Between a couple who are often loving and caring of each other but not officially married versus a couple who are officially married but often are arguing and fighting with each other, I'd say the former is more of an actual marriage than the latter.

We live in a society where some women now are the breadwinner and in some cases the husband is the stay-at-home spouse taking care of the children since financially it made more sense. So what about a husband taking the wife's name doesn't make sense?

Interesting. I have heard of husbands taking the wive's last name and see nothing wrong with that. Like you stated, some are more concern about sharing the same last name than which last name is being taken.

Curious though, were any of your parents/relatives concern of your family/parent's last name being discontinued with you taking your wife's last name and your future children taking hers as well?

I am curious how many families as a whole are that concern with continuing the family line/name and expect the children to adopt either the husband's or wife's last name.

My supervisor occasionally teases another coworker that have a year of marriage she still have not taken her husband's last name for her own. Said coworker and I briefly talked about it and I mentioned how my sister has not taken my brother-in-law's last name either after over a year of marriage.

Both my sister and brother-in-law doesn't see the symbology of sharing last names worth the hassle of changing all official documents, online accounts, credit cards, etc. just for a last name change. Funny enough my cousins thought my sister was trying to make a statement when she just thought it'll be too much of a hassle.

Personally for me, I do not see it being important at all. It is only a last name and other than for official documents, accounts, finances, etc. it means little to nothing. How one interact with one's significant other is more important than sharing the same last name.

Do you find it important, not important, or is indifferent to the wife/husband taking the other's last name for her/his own?

The answer to questions like this will always be "there is no one-size-fits-all answer."

Indeed. Some folks I know got married after a year of dating while some, like my sister and brother-in-law, got married after several years of dating. Sometimes it gets to the point that they're unofficially "married". It really depends on the individuals. There's no right or wrong approach.

WastelandCowboy posted...
Additionally, how long should someone be in a relationship before they have kids?

Again, depends on the individuals. My cousin got married in her mid 20's but she and her husband decided to finish med school first before having their first daughter in her late 20's. Some folks I know have kids within a year of their marriage.

The only thing I'll say is that said decision should lie with the couple. Forget what the parents say about them wanting grandkids and/or continuing the family line. Raising kids is a strain on one's finance and time. Said couples have to be ready for that so the decision should be theirs and theirs alone.

Krazy_Kirby posted...

if the relationship is truly going to last then being married or not won't change that. only thing it would do is give financial benefits...

Funny enough, I was recently talking to a couple in their 50's who have been married for 20+ years. Apparently the priest who officiated their wedding may not have ever submitted their wedding application to the county so they technically might not be married and their three daughters might be bastards. Of course not sure how this worked in regards to their taxes.

I mean, the middle parts of the movie were really messy, what with juggling 30 characters and like six plotlines

I did thought the various cast being split up and the story bouncing back and forth made it a little "sloppy". I can only assume Hulk and Vision were gimped for this same reason.

It really depends on your life style. I live at home with my mother and contribute to paying for utility, property tax, home insurance, etc. Maintenance and internet I handle and cover. I do not have a curfew but she does want me to call-in if I will be coming home late or staying overnight elsewhere.

She respect my privacy and usually won't bother me unless it is something she actually deems important (i.e. why is her tablet/phone not working, etc.). I have no girlfriend nor interest in getting one so the concern of bringing her home when my mother is around is not one I need to deal with. Could living at home cause me to hold back? I honestly do not know.

For the past few years she has been taking an annual month-long trip out-of-country and I'm home alone the entire time. It is during those trips that I experience what it is like to live alone. For the most part I do enjoy how any mess I see (i.e dirty dishes) are only mine and not my mother. Sounds odd but with her age, my mother habits on certain messes she makes will never go away so I have to live with them instead of hoping she'll change.

The amount I contribute each month is $500 which is a far cry compared to the rents my friends are paying for their apartment. If I find myself suddenly having to find an apartment to live in, it definitely would require a change of habits on my part to save additional money for the increase in rent.

If I ever move out though it'll more likely just be due to a change in job as I can't see any other realistic reasons for me to move out.

I thought this was Tremors 5....

Six I believe.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tremors_(franchise)

First covered the Graboid, second had the Shriekers, third had the Assblasters, fourth went back in time with the creation of Perfection, fifth introduced the son, and now we have the sixth installment.

I'd imagine most have heard the saying that cops cover for each other. Still, I do wonder how many hear/read about certain incidents and just groan from the embarrassment it'll put on him/herself. I'm far from a good engineer but whenever there are bad designs leading to failures and/or deaths, I kinda feel ashamed a little. Same goes for whenever a Scout leader somewhere is convicted of some child abuse. It's a weird sense of guilty by association.

I actually enjoyed Tremors 5: Bloodlines but am not 100% sure if I should give Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell a try. The thing I like most about each movie is the introduction of a new type of Graboid and/or the different stages of its life cycle.

They pretty much did shoot themselves in the foot. They gave away movie rights because (I assume) they had no plans to make movies themselves at the time. And because of that, they neglected to include the necessary legal framework that would allow them to get those rights back.

They were in a financial pickle as well I think. Probably had to sell the rights and eventually themselves to Disney to stay afloat. Perhaps some comic guru can chime in to confirm what happened back then.

The main character was Thanos.

Agreed. This movie seemed to be more about revealing Thanos's motivations and character than anything else. Everything else seemed to be more like background activity to that.

Interesting point. One I am willing to stand behind. I can only guess MCU had to give him some background story to justify how the Avengers wins later. Comic fans probably expected the movie outcome so now its the question of how the situation will be resolved in a way that makes sense and doesn't belittle any of the characters or involve too much plot armour.

I've been told this might be one "flaw" of the Infinity War movie in that some parts might confusing if you haven't seen some/all of the previous Marvel movies.

At the same time, given how long some of these movies have been out and that it's expected Infinity War will encompass characters/plots from all the previous Marvel movies, I would say the fault lies on the movie goers for not being caught up.

I assume any one carrying a gun out in the public will protect themselves and their family first.

They both turned at the cop in a jittery way and looked at him up and down.

All of the action leading up to the incident was pretty strange.

I'll agree Arreola did look nervous over something as simple as buying Mentos. The officer wasn't in uniform so don't know why they would feel nervous though.

I've been playing Final Fantasy Brave Exvius for the past several months. Despite the gacha mechanics I'm enjoying the the gameplay and even the story. It has the typical Final Fantasy/JRPG cliches but that's not taking my fun away. Would I rate it above other existing JRPGs? Probably not but I still find it fun.

I think the games that I tend to eventually lose interest in are the ones revolving around PvP gameplay. FFBE does have some PvP but the main aspects of the game is the PvE content and gacha mechanics.

Yeah but even so the behavior of the cop was really weird.

Aye, did seem excessive.
