TopicWould you ever LOAN someone MONEY without making them sign an IOU???

Without going into too much detail, I was on the verge of purchasing a car via financing for a friend because I have better credit and was going to have something officially written up and notarized that he agrees to handle the down payment, monthly bill, and other expenses for the car. After getting some outside opinions, we ended up co-signing for the car but at a higher cost due to his lower credit.

The most money I have loan out without any official IOU was about $400-500. A friend's brother got into an accident and the other driver agree to not report it if paid whatever amount in cash. Said friend hit his withdraw limit for the day so had to ask around for additional cash. I was promptly repaid within the week.

Unexpectedly, working from home is making people here hate their coworkers more and increase tensions.
Are folks behaving differently simply because of working from home or because of other issues affecting them directly/indirectly that is making them uneasy in general?

That said, I could kind of see how being in a work environment, you behave differently and restrain yourself whereas while at home, one might not have that mental restraint.

Yes, it was for a third party vendor on Amazon. They listed an official Kindle case as used which I was content with buying. What I received was instead some new third party case.

Seems weird for me to complain about getting a new case at 3/4th the usual cost of a Kindle case but I ordered the case expecting a used Kindle case, not a new knock-off.

That is my general view of the series. I found it frustrating at times and tried to rush from the bonfire back to my corpse/the boss and sometimes end up getting punished for that by dying to a careless mistake or getting swarmed.

What I like best about the series though is how your attacks feels like there is weight behind it and is something you need to take into account and not attack recklessly.

I do not have an answer to the poll. I try to avoid making bad posts in general. I often remind myself that I am talking with strangers over the internet. Whether I "win" or "lose" in a discussion, I gain nor lose nothing from it really that would actually affect my real life. My ego might get bruised but at the same time if I am trying to gain validation by "winning" an online argument with strangers, I think I will need to question what I am doing with my life first.

Sometimes I learn something new from a discussion and thank a poster for correcting me and sometimes I attempt to inform others based on what I know on a certain topic. At the end of the day, I am still talking with strangers and cannot expect anything I say to have any actual effect.

Just remembered there was one time his sloppiness with our in-house program almost got me in hot water. By chance we were doing preliminary analysis for two different clients who were bidding for the same job. His preliminary analysis offered a cheaper solution compared to mine. Management asked me while our results were so different and turns out he forgot to use the correct values and blamed the program again.

Maybe I am taking on too much of a burden by feeling certain errors with our in-house programs falls on us. But if we are aware of these issues and continuously make mistakes despite being aware of these issues, at some point the fault lies with us and not the program. The program is only as good as the user.

......even though I should probably just ignore him. I am not the perfect worker so perhaps this is just a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

I have a coworker who regularly talks about social and political issues not just with other coworkers but also with certain clients over the phone. He has a habit of repeating the same story to each person he talks with. He also complains about errors with our in-house program that leads to his finalized work sometimes being incorrect.

This might not be that bothersome as I can understand taking a breather now and then is important. I work 10-11 hours a day and on average 8-9 hours is actual work. I can also understand the issues with our in-house program can be frustrating.

What I find irksome is his common excuses of not getting projects done on time or not responding to emails because of him getting phone calls or being interrupted. He also repeatedly tell clients we have issues with our program and it was not his fault there is an error with his finalized work.

I am a fellow engineer, not management, so part of me feels this is beyond my concern until his behavior negatively effects the rest of us. Maybe it is simply because my cubicle is next to his so it is difficult to ignore what he is doing.

Again, I am not the perfect employee. Maybe I am just stuck up but something about his behavior is simply frustrating to deal with. How does such people even exist? How does one even deal with such people?

Comments, opinions, and suggestions are appreciated,

Thank you

For both the books and HBO series, I would say the politics, scheming, etc. between the various Houses and characters was definitely more interesting to me than the various fantasy aspects. Without the politics involved, I feel it woulda felt like a generic fantasy series.

Or maybe I am mentally whack enough to think there would be some deaths involved (i.e. Fire Nation solders dropped into the ocean or in the crashing blimps). More often than not, trying to accommodate an "evil" route consists of offering the player a choice between "pet puppy" and "kick puppy," with the "neutral" route being unlocked by alternating between petting and kicking the puppy. It's not exactly the most organic approach.
In some cases, the "evil" route does feels more like being a jerk than actually being evil. I find that a bit funny as there are cases of well written evil villains but I can also see why it can be challenging to create an "evil" route on par with NPC villains without essentially creating a whole new route in a game where we have the choice of alignments.

For most CRPGs, usually no benefits to being Evil, and worse, the games punish you for even a slight evil tendency. because the devs don't put enough effort and content to support evil and allow you to complete the main story. for example, just a single evil act could lock you out of major cities, e.g. shops. thus a huge handicap for evil characters.

ParanoidObsessive posted...
It's also a holdover from the time where being seen to "encourage" players to be evil would get concerned parent groups coming after you with pitchforks and torches. It's part of why GTA was always a favored target once it started getting popular - you're encouraging children to be criminals!

.......*snip*
Interesting points yer folks make and ones I can agree with. Sorry ParanoidObsessive, I liked the points yer made but did not want to make my post a wall-o-text with quotes. I do wish we can hide or collapse portions of our posts.

I do feel very few games ever truly accommodate a "good" and "evil" route properly. Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura might be one of the few that kinda offers an "evil" route without letting you deviate from the main quest.
