It's not the same as music by any means. Pop music might be vapid, but it's designed in a way to appeal to as many people as it can.

On the other hand, half the "value" of a quote is who said it. Using TC's example:
"If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?"

If you didn't attribute this to Einstein, it would be a pretty forgettable quote (and it's sort of stupid regardless). So the only "merit" of this quote is that it's "from Einstein". But if you are an academic, there are more relevant people for you to name-drop quote.

Idk, I find inspirational quotes silly. Though, markedly less silly when they aren't misattributed.

I agree on both parts.
I was just refuting what the other guy said.

I think feelings are a useful tool, with out them, we would not have devolped any form of society. I like to think of feelings as the 6th sense, and like any sense, they can deceive you.

If you're happy to believe something is untrue simply because your feelings want it to be untrue, more power to you. I like to know for real. I have a stylus, but I don't want to carry it everywhere. I would lose it all the time, and have to buy a new one. Also, typing with two hands is easier, so you would have to pick up and put down the stylus often. Surely they could find some way of making it intuitively predict what your trying to do. They could even have directional buttons come up on a long press, or something.

It would be interesting to hear a linguist analyze it. Really does sound like he said it, but maybe they could pick up on some nuance that most wouldn't hear.
