I watched a review of this show and everyone brings up that Macho Man dive from the cage that broke his leg. In the moment though seemed like Edge/Copeland finished the match and no one knew he was injured then.

Whereas Macho Man clearly couldn't continue.

The jump off the cage didn't break Macho's leg; to my understanding, it damaged his ACL (which then fully tore at Spring Stampede the following year). He was still moving around just fine afterwards (shockingly), just like Edge.

That said, having watched Edge's dive, it definitely brought Macho Man's spot, along with Sid's injury and Cornette's injury, to mind.

I'm not specifically talking about the Tyson/Paul fight when I say this, but yes, historically, that scenario, along with those involving fighters taking a dive, has been commonplace in boxing.

Licensed To Ill made them famous, but they weren't taken seriously. Paul's Boutique changed that.

As someone else said, St. Elsewhere was all imagined by an autistic kid looking into a snow globe, suggesting all the shows that it crossed over with (like Cheers) and THEIR spinoffs are all in the mind of this one kid as well.

And of course, Newhart ended with the whole show being a dream his character from The Bob Newhart Show had. However, that ending was awesome.

I'll admit that I haven't heard it in full since I was in high school. But I do remember it being solid back then.

Even then, I preferred albums that were consistently good all the way through, instead of a decent single or two and a bunch of filler.

Honestly, if the music was still good, he could still be doing alright on that front.

The 20/20 Experience could've been alright if you took the good tracks from each one and made a single album from it, and Man of the Woods is just a poor album. That ill will builds up, and then you combine it with everything else, it's not a surprise that people weren't interested in it.

That was actually pretty decent.

I enjoyed the ANThology album when I was in high school quite a lot, though.

It's better than "ok I guess," but I wouldn't say it's great either...

I lived in Clifton Park for a number of years, just a few miles north of Albany. Nobody ever referred to hamburgers as "steamed hams".

The only thing I'd really agree with him on is Joker being the killer of Batman's parents. I disagree on everything else.

If you try to take the movie seriously, then it's awful.

If you look at it as a comedy (which, knowing Verhoeven's work, is probably the case), it's entertaining as hell.

The only real issue I heard about Backspacer from Pearl Jam fans back when it came out was that it was a Target-exclusive release.

I don't mind the more "pop-rock" aspect of it (again, I think Yield is their best album), but the songs on it weren't as memorable as what had come before.

Their first 3 albums are still the best, but after many listens, the new album may be the best since then. But that would be saying it is better than Yield and Backspacer, and I am not sure.

I still maintain that Yield is PJ's best album, and I don't think the new album surpasses it, nor do I think it surpasses Riot Act. Having listened to it a few more times since posting yesterday, I do think it's easily their best since Riot Act, though.

Pearl Jam is still the best live show Ive ever seen. I saw them during the Lightning Bolt tour. No opener, they played for 3 hours, and Vedder did a 6 song acoustic set in the middle.

I liked both Lightning Bolt and Gigaton, but I agree, they felt more like autopilot albums for them.

And PJ is easily one of the top 5 live acts I've ever seen.

They don't. I don't listen to the radio, nor do I have or watch cable TV (I stick with streaming and my disc collection). 9 times out of 10, I only hear her music or see her videos because I'm actively making an attempt to listen to or watch them (which isn't that common).

If you aren't a fan, that's perfectly fine. Don't listen to her music. It's not a difficult trick to pull off, especially nowadays, when streaming services have made it easier for anyone to listen to practically whatever they want.

Agreed. There's no way it has anything to do with the thing they liked being changed to the point of being unrecognizable.

Like I said before, that's not automatically a given when something catches on with the mainstream. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. But it's possible to stick to what appealed people to the property in the first place, even if the people behind the scenes decide to make changes over time, if only to not let it stagnate.

This really isn't true. Gaming has grown alot but there's still a difference between "mainstream in gaming" and "mainstream mainstream"

With the kind of budget AAA games are given, not just in development, but in marketing and merchandising, they're not just hoping hardcore gamers buy the game. They're hoping casual gamers jump on board too. If those games are successful enough to spawn a franchise, while keeping a AAA budget, it's very likely that that game has enough pop culture awareness that you could call it mainstream.

This is purely anecdotal, so take it with all the salt grains you need, but I've got a number of friends whom are into gaming pretty heavily, and just as many whom don't play games at all. Many of those non-gamers are just as aware of various AAA franchises as the gamers are, Fallout included (and this was before the TV show was announced).

Rule of thumb, if it's a AAA game franchise, it's mainstream. It doesn't have to be on the level of recognizability of Mario or Sonic to be mainstream.

And yes, I know the arguments about quality going downhill when trying to appeal to outside audience. It's not a direct correlation. Something can become popular without sacrificing quality, and something can make attempts to reach a large audience and never catch on.

I'm dealing with a headache right now, so maybe I'm just missing an obvious joke, but in case I'm not, Game of Thrones was MASSIVELY mainstream. It didn't end due to lack of funding (HBO is still putting money into it, hence the House of the Dragon spinoff). It ended because David Benioff & D. B. Weiss were getting tired of the series and wanted to move onto new projects.

I wouldn't say her music is top tier, but it's good.

Nixon had met the minority leaders of both the House and Senate after the Smoking Gun tape was released, and they confirmed to him that he didn't have enough votes in either the House or Senate to avoid impeachment and removal from office.

That's why he resigned. If he thought he had any chance of having enough votes to avoid it, he would've stayed in office.
