Sure maybe the requirements are light, but there's no way for me to know how light, and if I completely ignore them, there's a chance it'll bite me later, so I can't. They've made it a central goal of the gameplay.

You definitely can know how light the requirement is. you can see the piranha plants around the castle of each world when you get there, and how many seeds it will take to get rid of them.

Since the seeds are color-coded by world, you shouldnt need more seeds from a single world than it takes to get to the castle. Theyre only relevant to the world where you found them, so leaving some behind cant come back to haunt you later.

Im like 30% done (half of the main story). Ive had one hard crash so far, and one incident where the last enemy in an encounter just wasnt damagable for some reason and I had to restart

plus a couple incidents of getting stuck in an animation. Like I tried to walk up to a carnival game, but Pete kept walking in a little circle

but mostly it works really well and is super impressive and good

Bubbles are slow so you can use them to as a thing to jump on

also they go through walls which is helpful sometimes

my one beef as of now is it seems like Bowser Jr. Is maybe going to be every castle boss

obviously they can make the battles very different through the wonder flowers, but still too much bowser jr

think 3 is maybe a tiny bit too old for the largest core of the site's users (speaking as someone on the older end of that "core"). Not a game they won't have gone back to, played, and enjoyed but World is more likely to be their first Mario game, and that come with a lot of nostalgic weight.

I just remembered, I went a really long time, (maybe even up until Mario Maker came out?? that sounds crazy, I dunno) before I really knew what SMB3 looked like originally

Mike is a weird case of legally not being a full GB employee.

He has a proper full time job at another website, but hes Grubbs best friend and they started bringing him on for individual videos after Fandom laid off Jess and Jason.

hes getting paid for it, but I guess by not being a full time guy he fits into the budget somehow. Definitely seems like hes on a lot of content at this point though for someone whos theoretically not part of the team.

Hot take: I don't really see the NSMB games as some kind of half-step down from 3 or World. Like they're all basically the same level of quality to me, except for NSMB playing slightly slower.

I think Wii and U were really good, but the visual style definitely outlasted its welcome

also Wii brought back the Koopalings, so its a 10/10

sure, I think this a reasonable concern for the site as a whole or even the boards as a whole, but I dont think its a risk for this board specifically.

just doesnt seem worth anyones time to eliminate one specific, non-problematic message board on a site with tens of thousands of boards.

Everything you described is part of why it's survived for so long. Overhead/upkeep on the site has to be minimal compared to its contemporaries. At least before Fandom got involved...
