What can be done about it? People in high cost of living areas actually bid against each other paying more than the home owner was asking. The government regulating how much someone can offer for a house would set a dangerous precedent.

If people making average salaries want a house their best bet is to move out of expensive areas. Or struggle paying rent that'll go up until you die.

From what I remember of this game, levels past a certain point mean little to nothing, especially once you have enough for every card you want in your build. Unlike previous games, levels also don't give you any increase to max HP, so even at level 1200+ you're still just about as killable as level 120.

I really liked Maple Story, in general. There were some things that really broke it for me, though. It's worth noting I played it nearly twenty years ago, so I don't know how it is now.

I plated as a warrior, but I felt they were handicapped in the game. They have to walk all the way up to enemies before they can attack them, but all other classes just destroy enemies at a distance before you get to reach them. Yes, that sounds like that goes with being a melee character, but it felt like there wasn't any gameplay balancing that compensates for that disadvantage. It's not like the tradeoff is other classes have to be careful because they die in two hits or whatever.

My friends went around buying and using ninja stars to attack at range, and said I should. Being a ninja kinda defeats the point of being a warrior.

I didn't like how restricted you were with character building. You level up and get points you can put into whatever attribute, but if you don't put them in specific ones you completely crippled your character. Using the warrior as an example, you needed almost every point in strength just to meet the requirements to equip higher level gear when you get there. If you didn't put almost all points in strength, you're several levels behind on getting to use correct gear. Then you need every free point in dexterity (I think) to give you some chance at hitting enemies or everything will register as a miss. Want some extra luck? Forget about it. You can't afford to waste the points.

I've got 2 characters at level 261 with my 3rd highest at 258, I think. I only play about 30 - 60 minutes on weekdays and maybe a couple hours on weekends. I don't have a lot of Star Force, because I don't have a lot of meso, and the highest boss I can solo is Normal Lotus.

I legitimately have fun playing the game, and have been playing since 2004's closed beta. I just don't have the time or energy to grind like I could 10+ years ago.

Fuck. You know, I never even really thought about it like that before. Here I've been wondering how people can stick with One Piece for such a long time when what I've been partaking in is much worse. Not only do I need to wait years for more story to be released, but it's also not available to everyone directly. I gotta learn second-hand any knowledge from where I currently am and most end-game boss lore. That's both funny and depressing to me.

Oh for certain. The highest level boss now is level 285 and she's just one of 5 known apostles of the main villain, and if Maple doesn't finally go belly up any time soon, level cap will easily go to 350 by the time that happens.
