This guy spent close to $2000 on the mobile Tales game, where you have a 5% chance of getting any given characters special move that comes with a unique CG. This banner is special because hes guaranteed something for this one character. He pulls on this banner 67 times and doesnt get it once. I (had a friend) did/do the math. Statistically, theres a 3% chance of getting the outcome that he did. Its great, though I have to admire this guys dedication to his waifu.  --- |

The original screenplay was written by Max Landis, so there was a HUGE amount of hype for it right from the start. Even if what was on the screen had some really big differences than the first draft of the script that leaked (there were actual witches as opposed to elves, if I recall correctly) everyone in the writing community, and tons of film enthusiasts were always super excited about it, because it promised that original plots were still marketable (and hugely profitable). But I digress. I feel like a lot of the backlash against it is in direct opposition to all the hype it got from... I wanna say early 2016? Its underwhelming, sure, but its not bottom of the barrel scum some critics are claiming it as. Its divisive, sure, but most big budget action flicks these days are. I havent slept, and Im literally reading a thing and watching tv at the same time. Sorry if this doesnt really add anything --- |

Thats not the part of the trope that bothers me though. It always starts with the MC being powerless and agonizing that he cant fight/whatever alongside the other superpowered folk. But his desire eventually manifests into being granted a superpower by whatever force s meant to be active in the narrative. So hes happy he can fight with others. And my first thought is... what about everyone else? What ABOUT the other 98% or 25% or whatever of people who arent given super cool abilities? Theyre supposed to just stick their thumb in their ass as they toil away at the regular life MC dreaded eventually succumbing to? Its such bullshit, and it just reeks of the premise that the author only thought up superpower stuff because of how COOL it was, and didnt think to flesh out the fact that if something like that existed, those people with superpowers would be exploited to hell and back once normal people got the technology to catch up to them. So the regular people are worthless, and the superpowered minority essentially governs the fate of the world world and, sometimes, the universe. It absolutely reeks of bullshit American 1% nonsense mixed with less rapes Greek myth stuff. And yes, Im talking mainly about My Hero Academia. Although many other shows/comics cover the same things. It just gets me... nettled. --- |

And it wasnt like I never cleaned the tank. I have it a good 20 minute scrubdown every week. And I made sure the pebbles werent a festering biome of scrap food and fish shit. And my dad and I never smelled anything either. My mom SWORE it made the whole house smell like a seafood market, and she would try to make our house guests say that the house stunk too, to support her. Eventually, I had to go away with my dad to Puerto Rico for a week for a family thing, and by the time I came back, all of the fish were dead. My mom HATED having animals in the house. So much so that she wouldnt even spare feeding fish every few days. --- |
