I disagree that everyone thought PSN on PS3 sucks compared to Xbox Live. Again, the general consensus I remember is that it was good for being free despite its shortcomings and Playstation Home was awesome. And considering how much better it was than the PS2 online experience while remaining free, there's no reason to believe it HAD to become a paid service to improve.

The movement of the cat looks too smooth and animated to me, but they're definitely getting better.

The speed, strike volume, quality of strikes at that volume and speed, and amount of fancy dodges are not realistic. If that was a real fight it would be an insane anomaly far surpassing the action in Hagler vs Hearns or any other historic first round. The Muay Thai girl whipping out a flying elbow after falling is pure fantasy.

But it's based on real-world styles. It's realistic in the sense that Goku fought a Muay Thai fighter in the martial arts tournament in OG Dragonball and that was realistic compared to Goku vs Frieza, but on its own you wouldn't say it's a realistic fight.

The end result of the Muay Thai fighter KO'ing the karateka was realistic, though ;)

I remember ps3 constantly having outages that Xbox didn't. Plus the ps3 version of multiply games were typically the worst ones, online gameplay included. The online experience for Playstation didn't get better until people started paying for it.

This just wasn't my experience on PSN at the time. The consensus I saw seemed to be that while Xbox Live had more features, at least we weren't paying for PSN. And it was such a monumental leap forward from playing PS2 online that the expectation was PSN was on its way to catching up.

What consoles? The only bad free online experiences are from Nintendo, and that had more to do with Nintendo doing Nintendo things like using friend codes. The PS3 had excellent free online services.

These are the consequences of letting SegaNet + the Dreamcast fail and Xbox Live thrive.

In all seriousness, totally agree with you. The PS3 having free online was the end of an era.

He came on as a producer for the movie in 2016 and played a major part in getting the project started again after it was initially canceled when it was titled Tron: Ascension. Not defending him being in it, just providing that background.

These kinds of talking points never work on me. I'm thinking yeah, 2000 feels like a long ass time ago. I probably think about the past too much already so it never catches me by surprise.

When I saw it in theaters, it was one of my favorite movies ever. I thought it was a cooler version of Spiderman. I think it sucks horribly now and I was just enamored with thinking Daredevil was badass at the time. Points for being stupidly entertaining, though. Bullseye was a hilarious villain.

Not really. I can get close, and have landed it a few times, but can't do it consistently. It's one of those things I learned about 20 years ago, practiced just enough to sort-of get it, and then didn't care to keep advancing. Similar to my old goal of doing the splits.

The meathead in me thinks big, lifted trucks LOOK cool, but it's annoying how prevalent they are and I don't actually like driving them. My work has me driving a tiny, egg-shaped BMW I3 hybrid and while it looks lame, it's a blast to drive. That thing surges from a dead stop like a little spaceship.

Controllers being finnicky on PC has been the bane of my existence for decades. It took the Xbox One and Series S/X controllers for me to finally have controllers I don't need to troubleshoot everytime I want to play a game,

My great grandmother never worked out and she lived to be 103. As long as I'm not fat I'm not worrying about it.

Quality of life at an old age is liable to be far better in terms of mobility, though.

Recently got Champions of Norrath for PS2 and have been hooked while playing that co-op. I want to order a pizza and get in an old school gaming session.

I looked up his name and "scam". So he DID scam backers on Kickstarter at one point? Then I stand corrected, lol.

I don't hate someone for lying about something as trivial as videogames unless they're scamming people through Kickstarter funding or something. In this case, you read reviews to get an objective opinion about the finished product and decide for yourself if you should buy it. Hate should be reserved for actual evil people.

It was more about her and Raiden as a pair when I just wanted to play as Snake. I'm over it, though.

Plenty, but it's more anxiety inducing when I'm stoned. That's not necessarily bad, though, and I appreciate confronting the discomfort in those moments.

Well, if this topic proves anything, it's that reports of the death of Bruce Lee/Mike Tyson arguments were apparently greatly exaggerated.

I think of it as honoring a sacred tradition. I hope in 20 years my children are having the same argument.

He was the worlds most famous martial artist. And he was likely very good. His conditioning was insane. We dont know if he was on the level some claim he was though, as his actual recorded/official experience was minimal.

But anybody with any experience knows that size matters. Weight classes exist for a reason. Ive been able to steamroll people who are better boxers than me because Im multiple weight classes above them. Its not a fair fight because I can eat several of their strikes and be more or less fine, whereas I only have to hit them clean once. The stakes of every single moment are higher for them. They cant afford a single mistake. Plus, theyre still getting chipped away at even if Im hitting their guard. Then theres reach to factor in as well.

Genuinely, anybody who thinks Bruce Lee would have taken Mike Tyson is completely clueless. Bruce Lee would have difficulty against somebody like me in my prime, and Im nowhere near Tysons ability level.

All true. A great example of size winning over skill is Ernesto Hoost vs Bob Sapp in K-1. There are also exceptions, like Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul, where Paul was so bad at boxing his size advantage wasn't enough lol.

I'd argue the ps2 is more responsible for dude bros. It was heavily marketed as the "kewl" console.

There was some of that for sure (lots of my friends back then moved on from the Dreamcast to play Madden and Grand Theft Auto), but I wouldn't say more than Xbox. The PS2 had a great mix of mainstream Western games and more niche Japanese titles.

In the movie Patton, as the Nazis are losing the war one of them holds up a picture of their American archnemesis General Patton as bombs shake their crumbling building and says, "He will be destroyed, too. The absence of war will kill him. The pure warrior...a magnificent anachronism."

Some background about that, General Patton had a reputation even among the Nazis of being crazy. He believed he was reincarnated from historical warriors from the distant past and famously got in trouble for smacking a soldier who was suffering from PTSD and calling him a coward. He was a piece of shit in many ways, but there's a sense of melancholy conveyed in the movie about a man who doesn't fit in and doesn't know his purpose as the war winds down. Society created this hardened warrior through WW1 and WW2 and then no longer needs him in the post-war era.

Enshittification was inevitable. I was surprised that PS3 had free online services, but I have no doubt that Sony would have thought to start charging for online on its own with the PS4.

The original Xbox and the 360 were both really good consoles, too.

Lol no, carrying your kids up the stairs is not equivalent to that kettlebell workout. The reason why it's good enough for a 5-minute workout is because the intensity is through the roof.

Again, it's fine if you don't want to do it, no judgment there, but the reasons in this topic for why people can't workout are stepping out of their lane by drawing conclusions about the workout itself (e.g. it takes too long, it's too expensive, etc.) and are easily refutable.

To further add to that Far Side story, when Gary Larson visited a chimpanzee establishment with Jane Goodall he was attacked by a chimp named Frodo. Makes you wonder if she was biding her time for revenge.

I remember text to image being a big deal. And that browser extension, GameFox, greatly enhancing the usability. And then we had 2 indie apps come out, but eventually the site offered almost everything they did in the mobile site. A rare example of a website replacing the app instead of the other way around.

I bear no judgment on people who admit they simply don't want to, but some of the reasons in this topic like working out costing money, not having time, or that it can't make a difference in how they look are flat-out false.

Thats because it was always a silly debate. Bruce Lee was like 140 pounds. Theres no way hes taking a competent fighter that weighs 220, and Tyson was way beyond competent.

Oof. This ties into why archizzy's friend had a small chest. Being a strong bench presser involves tucking your elbows into your sides and pinching your shoulder blades back so your triceps and upper-back are recruited more, but your chest doesn't get hit as hard as a result. When I first hit a 350 bench I wasn't happy with the size of my chest until I added in lighter sets targeting the pecs.

Just wanna say it's extremely strong but when you bring up "elite", it's also the kind of "strong" that a strong NFL player or other athlete who doesn't focus on weightlifting would put up. An actual elite powerlifter wouldn't consider it strong, or if they do they'd be speaking about it for a different category and set of standards than themselves.

I don't understand it either but I have other deficiencies with myself that others wouldn't understand, so I understand not being able to understand others if that makes sense lol.
