I'll never get why shit like this is contentious for some. A group of people literally just wanting to exist and be comfortable in their own skin, and people acting like trans folk are the TF2 Spy, except using genitals instead of knives.

My dudes and dudettes(not sure on a gender neutral one here, need to look in to that, don't mean to offend anyone just blame my ignorance), no one is going to try and con you in to a life long marriage or anything. Trans people can be attractive even if it's "not your thing." Discriminating against people does not actually make anything better for -you-, it just makes things worse for other people. I mean you might get something you're not expecting on a hook up, but if it's really not your thing just be fucking civil, it's still another human being you're speaking to.

Kindness is pretty damn fulfilling. Give it a shot.

To be fair anything housing related is currently an enormous issue. Things that go against affordable housing on the average generally get people heated these days on both sides.

You can give your things away to your family, friends or anyone who are close to you. You can even donate your things away to charity.
That is why a will is useful, so it goes to the people you choose to get your things.

Physical games we can give them away to anyone we want, there are no rules to who we can't give away.

That's the point. If your neighbor doesn't want you to have those solar panels, you're likely not getting them if they're more chummy with the HOA heads, or because it doesn't mesh with their aesthetic standards. Or maybe they didn't like you because you're new.

Or, I could just get my permits and strap em up on my roof. My neighbor may not like it, but it's my house at the end of the day (they actually do like it).

And, I can add an extra room on to my house. Welding a side a car to it is, however, illegal. My house also isn't going to hit someone crossing the street at 110MPH because I built a shed out back. They are... Very different.

HOA's do not own your house

They typically hold a lien which, while not actual ownership, gives them the ability to force you to vacate. You'll always have to abide whatever community rules there are as well, and many don't even give you a say in how you personalize the exterior. You own your home in theory alone, not in action. Actually kind of familiar with these concepts as a contractor lol.

As long as I'm not breaking laws I can pretty freely modify my house however I want.

People want that enforcement though, so you're always going to have HOAs be attractive for many homeowners.

My aunt lost her house because she, incorrectly, assumed as long as she was up on her mortgage and bills she could let go of the HOA payment.

I'm not an HOA advocate but I've lived around pretty horrible people in the past, and if the City prevents me from taking any kind of action that a person would normally do to in various situations what are ya gonna do? I don't do anything that wouldn't be against even the strictest HOA rules at my house(aside from letting yard work slip a bit at times when I can't do it myself, but I hire someone to do it in that case). I suppose someone could complain about the noise from light woodworking I do once in a while as a hobby.

Still would never be caught dead in "bubble wrap." Also in the event of bad neighbors, HOA can very easily empower them to fuck you over too depending on the rules.

So, I stand by my stance. HOAs can fuck off.

Edit: I also lived inside a city for my entire childhood, and I'm just waiting to move back to one or close to. Still will hold that view.

If we're being honest they don't want to do that. They still get something out of people who use adblock(donations/super thanks, publicity, etc). They just want to make the experience as miserable as possible so you give up.

Very apparent the strategy that all tech giants are using when you stop and think about it.
The goal is just to ease people into paying more, seeing more ads, etc. Every now and then there is a misstep and they go a little too far a little too fast, which causes outrage and they roll it back, but then they slowly introduce it over the next couple years and it's accepted.

They figured out that letting the harmful practices trickle in is an effective strategy that prevents backlash. So they've been easing people into the shittier version of everything for over a decade now, and here we are.

Nope, but it's still bleak. As of about two years ago I think about half of Americans had about 5k or less in savings, iirc. Might be 10k. Not bad, but it's not really enough to save you in an emergency.
