I just saw the direct. Looked cool! I'm sad that they're trickling out so much of the expansion pass over a year and a half but I guess the ending dlc coming out so long from now will give me a reason to revisit the game. It looks pretty nice. That beginning segment with the spotlights was ripped so hard from Xenosaga and I love it

I loved the game but I can agree that the ending pacing isn't great. But I feel like if you're the type that will enjoy this game it won't detract that much

I pretty much quit playing because TFTs new set got released and I love that game but I kind of echo some of skulls complaints? I do enjoy the movement but it does feel like punishing a good opponent is almost impossible with how quickly you can cancel out of whatever you want so actually winning neutral can be a challenge. I'll try it out more next beta and see how I feel after some downtime but Im still enjoying the game. Making things less forgiving would help my enjoyment though

Case 5 beaten!

9/10 game IMO so I'm very glad I played it!

There are some nitpicks...the reliance on herlocks contraptions being such a main plot point felt a little cheap since this is ostensibly set in the 1800s or what have you...blood analysis and the whole cat door thing felt a little forced. But I suppose writing an interesting mystery without any scientific analysis is just...he said, she said type things which is definitely less interesting. So I can see where they're coming from in forcing it a bit. I'm not too upset about it but it did make it feel a little cheap.

I also wish that the game itself had more cases on par with the 5th, just in terms of the size of it. The first 3 cases are like half of a case, the 4th is like 75% and then the last case felt like a full case. It was still only one day of investigation but it still felt weighty and like there was enough time to explore everything. But the level of detail put into this last case kind of only matches the detail put into a normal case in the PW games, and there was never a real grand finale. That kind of takes away from it a bit.

On that note as well it felt like the 5th case was more of a setup than a real finale, which is a bit weird. You have this whole affair with the government secrets being leaked and then the Russian terrorist is in the jury, but he just...never gets involved in any way? And then Lord Stronghart is sort of never really utilized in any capacity either which felt weird. I know it's supposed to tie directly into the next game but I wish they did a better job of giving this one a more satisfying conclusion still.

That said, the character writing and emotional highlights were top notch and I ended up falling in love with Sholmes and Susato so it'll be nice to see them again. Seeing Gina's character growth was touching as well. All around just a great cast. Naruhodo is basically the exact same as Phoenix but I'm fine with that because Phoenix is inherently lovable

I'm gonna jump right in on the next one...it's supposed to be even better and I loved this one so here's hoping it lives up

Recommend watching this video to anyone who wants to understand Kim better. Great points, besides the ending speculation which seems a little iffy to me, the analysis of the show itself is top notch

Yeah those are valid points, but did little to take away from the highlights. I'm not saying it was the best case ever holistically but to be honest none of the cases so far have been. The investigation aspects have been pretty scuffed compared to the originals so far. I'm hoping and assuming that game #2 will remedy that
