I think the lesson that the Republican Party took away from that was, "If only we had our own media channels to counter-program against the news in its coverage of Watergate we could have kept the House and Senate members in line behind Nixon and beat back the impeachment and thereby keep him from having to resign."

And while it took that some time to build it up they eventually did and we saw it essentially work in that exact fashion with both of Trump's impeachments but especially the second.

Each charge is a felony and has a maximum sentence of four years and a maximum fine of $5,000. That doesn't mean he is going to go to prison for 136 years and be ordered to pay a 170,000 fine. Judges typically allow sentences to run concurrently which means if he goes to prison four years not only does it count for one sentence but the other 33 as well.

That being said if it is four years, it doesn't mean Trump is going to be in prison all four years or even one second for that matter. The judge can sentence Trump to four years and have it be served by probation, house arrest, prison, or some combination. As long as he complies with the requirements of house arrest or probation, he won't be put in prison.

Of course four years and $5,000 are maximums and it is unlikely that Trump gets this. My guess is a fine and 1-2 years probation will be the sentence with the time running concurrently to one another. Honestly I am okay with this. No need to treat Trump, worse than any other person convicted of said crimes.

Secure online voting is also completely doable, but it would be much harder to have secure anonymous online voting and I dont trust the average American to keep up with their unidentifiable voting ID number or whatever. Theyd lose it, and since it couldnt be traced back to them, itd just be gone.
