Most of what I know about it is from the KamSandwhich video so that's the thing I'd say to start with: https://youtu.be/E6xVzcxsQW0?t=543

It will eventually get to the 24 hour version of the affair, so don't get let down by it only being 8 hours at first.

not exactly. Silver was used to prevent the return of one as a vrykolakas. Not the same as utilizing it as a weapon, Which is a modern creation.

modern vampires, when the reflection features, still have no reflection in anything from windows to modern airport mirrors.
It was "all of the above." Silver was a deeply religious metal so it was used for everything to some group. It was absolutely used as a weapon.

And yes, modern vampires certainly are different. I blame society. Not sure what the concept of the passage of time is supposed to mean here. Are you going to bring up vampires sparkling as well to disprove silver being a vampire weakness as well?

silver as a vampiric weakness doesnt start featuring till about the 1970s.
The first time it would appear would be in the Greek vrykolakas, which certainly appeared quite a bit earlier than the 1970's.

Though, I should say that the Greeks weren't the first with a vampire legend, IIRC. Just the first one that I am confident in having a silver weakness.

Im saying again: silver isnt mentioned as their weakness at all. Not in Dracula or Carmilla or Varney or most folklore. Im not sure why youre holding to this when the explanation for no reflection is given in the book without silver being mentioned. Its just a post hoc justification. The explanation for to on Stoker gives us they dont have souls and the mirrors show that, silver has nothing to do with it.

if later sources tie that into silver, thats fine. Theres no wrong way to do it. But its not part of Dracula and its certainly not part of traditional folklore
Pre hoc.

As you said, silver in mirrors in the context that you were talking about wasn't done until the 1830's. Hence why mirrors weren't a weakness in, say, The Vampyre as that predates the proliferation of cheaper silver mirrors.

By the late 1800's, on the other hand, they already had become a thing so you started to see it as a weakness.

mirrors didnt begin commonly using silver until the 1830s. Dracula has a much older mirror in his castle he doesnt reflect in.

they explain everything in n Dracula in great detail and why. Silver is never mentioned there. Its just not one of his original weaknesses
Mirrors were first made using metals: https://penelope.uchicago.edu/Thayer/E/Roman/Texts/secondary/SMIGRA*/Speculum.html

The concept of a silver mirror predates the concept of a vampire entirely. By around 1800 years at the *minimum.*

And Dracula isn't the first vampire story either, it was just, arguably, the most pivotal vampire story ever made.

Silver isnt even mentioned in early sources there. In the novel, Dracula doesnt cast reflections in any mirrors, silver doesnt enter into the equation. Its meant to show Dracula as a soulless creature
That would be because it was just assumed that you knew what a mirror was. Like, they don't have to know that the boat was made of wood in Spain in 1300. They wouldn't say "the wooden boat": all the boats were that way. Same goes with the mirrors: the mirrors had a silver back, they didn't have to say it.

It's an entirely different aspect of the situation and honestly I think you are just totally missing the point here. AI subtitling would be about the quality of the text and translation itself while this article is entirely about other aspects, such as layout, placement, subtitle tracking, etc

Basically in summary it talks about how the standardization away from an anime-specialized tool towards a general subtitling tool, as pushed by netflix and amazon prime, is trashing the one major thing crunchyroll had that made its subtitles look so much nicer than everyone else in the business. because they're being dragged towards using a subtitling tool and format that may work okayish for live action but is not great in anime, which has a much higher amount of on-screen text. It's the subtitling process that gets you garbage like this
I realize that. It, however, doesn't change the statements I made. The loss of people was to shift over to AI, the change in software was because the old one wasn't going to use AI, etc. Yes, one can come up with other reasons for any of the singular aspects, such as money related ones being the reason for staff being let go, but it doesn't change the fact that so many of the changes also relate directly to their AI push. The fact that the article doesn't go over that as much is more a failing on the article's part than me not understanding what they are saying.

I still wouldn't count it though, since those forms were clearly designed alongside their originals while that gen was being created. It's not the same as a new evolution or form being designed separately from the originals and added later on. While Gamefreak were designing Magmar for gen 1, I strongly doubt they were thinking what its evolution would look like in gen 4. While they were designing Ampharos for gen 2, I strongly doubt they were thinking about a mega evolution coming in gen 6. But while they were designing Shaymin for gen 4, they were clearly creating both of its forms at the same time and basing them off each other at the conceptual level. Likewise with Diancie and its mega evolution in gen 6. That's the difference IMO.
We have already established that you wouldn't count it, which is irrelevant to me saying the opposite. Whether you add on other unsubstantiated rationale is irrelevant.

That new form debuted in the same gen that Shaymin did, so I don't think we can call it a "new" form so much as a form it came with right out of the box. I thought about saying Mega Diancie, but it's the same situation as Sky Form Shaymin. Both Diancie and its mega debuted in the same gen.
Same Gen, sure, but not the same game so it wasn't really "out of the box" for anyone who played during that Gen.

If we are arguing the extremes, I would think a game is too easy would have no way of making it harder. I am talking about a game being too easy to the point that all you have to do is hit a button when the game requires it. How do you make that harder? You can't, the game has you do the easiest of inputs to win. You cannot lose as the game just waits for you.

That is where that argument is going if you do both extremes like the other person is trying to start with the "too" hard logic.
That is the visual novel genre.

Unsurprisingly, it is a genre that has no troubles sticking around because the logical extreme of "too easy" isn't actually a meaningful label in the same way that "too hard" is.
