lots of virtual reality

50/50 odds your gaming is actually work, like in some dystopian Ender's Game. You think you're playing. But you're actually a military mech pilot with a remote connection and those orcs you're shooting are people.

Currently giving langrisser mobile a go, I think it's a pretty decent tactical rpg for a "free" mobile game nut I'm sure I'll hit a wall eventually.

I did that for a few year! Fun tactical RPG, but the equipment customization was a massive pain and the wall of "grind out all of this gear and character shards for the +3% effectiveness you need to beat the next level" got too steep for me.

~

Currently playing Gems of War. It's Puzzle Quest! (puzzle quest 3 actually sucks, imo). There's perks for playing daily. New troops and events are released weekly, with occasional bits of power creep. But it's a nifty puzzle, match 3 game with RPG mechanics.

it's a solid GBA game and scratches a tactical itch. The use of races and job paths is pretty cool, and the modular mission format is pretty great to play casually as you see fit. The law system sucks in the final 10% of the game. For the front end 90%, it's a novel way to force variety out of your crew.

It's nowhere near the level of polish seen in FFT, and I contend that Tactics Ogre: Knights of Lodis is the better game.

Boy Scouts is a religious organization. Most troops are sponsored by and meet at a church. There's references to God in the oath and laws you recite at the beginning of each meeting plus a prayer as well.

I had my meetings in both an elementary school gym and a volunteer fire dept. I'm an eagle scout and was a summer camp counselor for 5 years.

The BSA has backpedaled to allow "god" to mean "any sort of higher power". The official statement is "Its policy is that the home and organization or group with which the member is connected shall give definite attention to religious life.

https://www.scouting.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/RT-HT-Reverent.pdf

So, yes, it's wholly possible for a church-based troop to be religious AF (especially the LDS's) but secular scouting is also totally a thing, with adult leadership who attends church less than twice a year.

That said -- I'm fine with it. Venturing Scouts already existed as a co-ed organization aimed at high schoolers.

Numbers are dwindling across the board (partially because of the whole pedophilia and subsequent cover up in the 70s and 80s, partially because of socio-economic and lifestyle factors), so in order to keep cub, girl, and boy scouting programs in the black with a decent population -- a merge was inevitable.

At this point, no. that's just the economy. You're gated more by story progress than money.

In the NES version, yes, you needed to grind to at Elfheim to get swords and spells to everyone. In the earth kingdom, there was notably a suit of armor that was badass and fighter only but like more than triple what you had in your pockets. So more grinding in the Vampire or Lich cave, notably in a hallway which had a lot of gold-dropping Giants. If you're already flush with cash, c'est la via.

3 is eclipsed too much by 5, imo.

It had a few novel gimmicks, most notably the "everyone needs to be tiny" sections, and other parts which forced your party to conform to the dungeon like Mystic Knights in the Cave of Splitting Enemies, Scholars right at the moment when you need them to peep, or "everyone be a dragoon and jump together to avoid AoE murder" boss.

Also the final dungeon is a complete pain with its length and lack of save points.

2) Started with starting strength, eventually added in accessories. Lurked at fitness forums and eventually settled into my own routine which also jives with my work and social life.

What matters most:

- Sticking with it, and starting.
- Working out all muscle groups at least twice over the week. Allow for 48hr recovery (if you do legs on monday, don't do them tuesday). If you want do it 3 days a week a la Starting Strength, great. If you want to do upper/lower 4 days a week, also great. Daily? Knock yourself out, program accordingly.
- If cardio is part of your routine, and it should be, do it after lifting or on another session. Fatiguing yourself from cardio and then trying to do a heavy lift is an unsafe idea.
- Compound lifts first, accessories and isolations afterwards. Ain't no shame in just the bar; get good form before feeding your ego.
- Be proactive. Have an idea on the sets, reps, and weight you plan to do, generally 3 sets in the 5 to 12 rep range, with a warmup set at about 66% working weight. If you complete your sets/reps/weight! Great! Increment up next session. If you don't complete it all, so be it. Chill at the previous plan next session. If you fail for 3 consecutive sessions, rank down or mix it up (lower weight, more reps usually)

You also stop leveling up midway through Act 3. So you feel little pay off for doing frustrating side quests and since you aren't getting any stronger you have to use cheese tactics instead of just leveling your character up to be able to stand a chance against the ridiculous nonsense they pull later on

I actually liked this decision. Level 12 is the max. It's good to enjoy being at max power for the last leg and then I know I should start hurling consumables all willy-nilly like Haste Grenades and spell scrolls.

I think it's bad design to give your characters their awesome skills that they can only enjoy for like, only the final boss fight (Rydia Meteor, e.g.)

House of Hope was an awesome segment, and I liked the Raph fight. Also, that battle music, lmao. Yes, some of them have a gimmick you need to figure out and die for, but I think that's better design than something that's just puntable right out of the gate. Like, the Orin fight took me a few tries to deal with the punting those people with Sanctuary off the cliff.

I'm planning on doing a second playthough in the medium future, actively using Laz and Astrarion and being evil and stuff. First time on "standard" difficulty was self gnome (Melee Hunter Ranger), Shart (light cleric), Gale (wizard), and Wyll (bard+warlock)
