I've only played the DS remakes of 3 and 4. Both were enjoyable but 4 is up there as one of my fav in the series

Rashid will probably have a trailer at Evo and then come out a few days to a week later.

I downloaded it and thankfully you can just have a quick game against the CPU to get a feel for the game. I thought you'd be forced into the make a character thing.

So the part of the game i care about was locked behind a lottery and the bit meant for people who cried about lack of single player in 5 is open to everyone.

Would've been amazing if they went back and did something with Laguna's story. In a different timeline we could've had a compilation of FF8. But alas FF7 is the one that needs to have 50 games made about it.

The game always seems to default to learning the worst gf abilities first as well. Yeah we totally need that GFHP10% as a priority _

GF spam will get you through 90% of the game but you will hit a few roadblocks near the end of the game.

You can get an item that teaches gfs the 4x status junction as well if i remember right.

The one thing that ruins FF8 for me is when you know how the junction system works it removes all of the challenge. The enemies levelling up with you thing adds to that as well.

Got the platinum trophy. Combined the no merchant, no heal, pistol/knife only into one run. The matilda is a beast with the stock and infinite ammo. It's basically a machine gun if you keep tapping the trigger as you shoot. Also enjoyed using the punisher to take out a crowd and it sounds great.

You can get the job done with the hand cannon but the accuracy isn't the best when trying to hit weak spots. Seems to take a few hits to down a shield guy as well. The sweeper just lets you spray and pray so accuracy doesn't matter.

As long as you're on a fresh new game then you can use what you like. You can make it even easier and just pay for the tickets and go for infinite ammo from chapter 2.

Just finished my pro s+ run in 4 hours 59m 59s. Ended up collecting all the spinel requests in the village and then unlocking the hand cannon at the castle with the ticket. Anyone going for the plat i'd recommend getting the HC from the mercs mode and then doing what i did. Soon as you get through the village it's all downhill for the most part. You get all the special accessories that way.

I don't know whether it was the actor or the script they had him reading, but i didn't like Krauser either. The whole thing reminded me of the bad guy from Universal Soldier.

I've just done the cabin on my run after like 20 deaths. That sledgehammer guy is no joke on pro. If you aren't at full health he one shots you.

Yeah that's how Atlus does things. The only reason we got more Persona on PC was because they gave the fanbase one chance to prove it'd sell and it did. We probably did get a bit of luck with them picking Golden though as that's the game everyone wanted to see off the Vita.

All they need to do to P3 is give it the stuff 4 and 5 have.

Good to know. I've just quickly rushed through chapter 1 on pro. Managed to do it in 16 minutes but i didn't bother trying to kill anything in the village. Interesting to note that the sledgehammer guy and farmers chase you right up to the bit where you have to push the cart out of the way. I'm gonna see how far i get doing this but i have a feeling Gigante or Mendez will destroy me if i don't have enough cash to upgrade stuff. I'd try the skips but i doubt i'd get them to work.

The 2 Krauser fights must be hell on Pro mode. For the rest of it i'd probably rush through with a shotgun to clear a path.

Oh nice thanks for the info. If they add a lot of this stuff into Ada's section it's gonna be pretty challenging.

Finally finished it. Overall they did an amazing job. Kinda glad they removed the U3 fight as i was never really a fan of it anyway. It basically just felt like another Verdugo fight and the game worked well without it. Other than that the only other major cut from the island was the driving bit with Ashley. That was a take it or leave it section but again they worked around it perfectly.

As for a few story changes it seems like Krauser wasn't working for Wesker in this one. I don't think we ever find out what happens to the other one of Salazar's helpers. In the original it gets morphed into his boss fight. Maybe Ada will fight it in her DLC?

Just realised i completely missed a quest after the wrecking ball bit. Luckily i had a save just before Krauser so i'll have to redo that fight.

Yeah i gave up and just shot him in the end.

The Krauser fight is annoying. I only have my main knife and it breaks half way through the running around bit. Unless you're actually meant to shoot him during that opening phase instead.

That final shooting range challenge defeated me. Wanted to try getting 5* on it but the sniper lags when zoomed in on PS4 making it a nightmare.

I'm hoping to get this finished today or tomorrow. I'll probably attempt Standard S+ with no heals pistol/knife only. Would throw in no merchant but i dunno if the starter pistol will be good enough to speedrun all the bosses in a fast time.

Finished the Castle. All the bits that were remade or reimagined from the original were brilliant bar the water room which was a bit of a disappointment. The only new bit i wasn't a fan of was probably the gigante fight with the cannon. Didn't like the whole section leading up to it either with the sun/moon doors.

I've got the 3 stars on both shooting ranges so far. Most of the challenge is just learning the pattern.

When i think it's coming i usually just hold down right and it always dodges. There's probably something unfair about pro mode though.

I'll be honest i'm not really into Tekken but this looks identical to 7. Should've done TXSF instead but that looks dead at this point sadly.

I dunno if it's because it's mostly unrecognisable or in a different order to the original, but the castle seems to be going by really quickly for me. I've just reached the second shooting range.

Can you earn challenges and achievements on NG+? Like, can I get the "under 8 hours" or "knife and handgun only" challenges there, or do they need a brand new file?

I could be wrong but the only thing you can't do on a NG+ run is get an S+.

The bald zealot reminds me of the female cenobite from Hellraiser.

Couldn't care less about 5 tbh. If they do end up remaking it i'll be waiting for a sale. I hate how 'new' Chris seems to be the one thrown down our throat now. I loved CV but they'd just turn him into the boulder beefcake from the newer games if they remade it.

The Geoff show is garbage compared to what E3 was.

E3 has been about the same as what he does for years now. Nintendo and Sony pulling out coupled with every developer under the sun thinking they need their own conference made it crap.

Finished the village. Overall it was better than the original but the last bit after the cabin was a bit weaker. Dunno why but it felt a bit rushed. Soon as you beat the sisters it was like ok straight into the Mendez fight and then straight into the castle. I don't mind the second Gigante fight being dropped, but i kinda miss the cable car bit and felt it could've been a nice gap between the final two fights mentioned above. That weird running section could've been moved to the end as well. Would've lined up with what Leon says about the factory being on fire attracting attention.

The one from the RE2 remake must've either been busy or had a falling out with the staff to not get recast. She was perfectly fine.

That first Ada voice part was so awful. Why would they allow that to pass in a masterpiece like this.

Been tempted by the minethrower. I'm wondering if the mines are literally just grenade levels of damage.

it's fine if they're just idling far away - it's only if they're behind some sort of barrier that i can't currently cross that it withholds reward. even if it's a gate with a nearby switch.

Dunno how i managed to miss that message, my bad.

I've also noticed something interesting. If you cheese enemies they never drop money or an item. What i mean by cheese is if you use the boat spears near a dock to kill enemies or just outside the church i ran round the back and just shot at the dog while it stood idle waiting for me.

treasures are good because theyre money and money is weapon upgrades and weapon upgrades may mean needing less ammo to kill stuff in the first place

I hunted every damn fish in that lake for cash. Im obsessed with the pursuit of wealth.

Yeah i caught all the fish also. Helped that i won the beetle charm though so i could get double the money for everything.

To be fair you're not really giving up ammo in this game as they always give it you back in boxes anyway.

Also i found a random beetle by accident in the lakeside area and it turns out to be a rare item. Basically acts like a yellow herb but can also sell for 10k or 20k if you have the beetle charm that doubles healing resell value.

Damn this is a good tip. I was just blasting through them to save the main knife.

Can you skip the first gigante fight seeing as you can now dock just outside the farm in this? I went back to get the treasure there but didn't bother to see if you can run all the way back to the village.

I defo feel like the game is being a lot more harsh to me. I got to the lake and had a quick look at how some streamers reacted to the opening few chapters. They all seem to get way better item drops and easier kills despite being on Hardcore as well. I even missed the crow flashbang treasures because for some reason the wolf in the area came at me before i even saw them so they flew off.

It says in the game you get most of your money back. Probably 80-90% of the cash is my guess.

I've pretty much got the best score on all 3 of the opening games and never received any more medals.
