I'm talking like 2-3 years and then something is going severely wrong. The last one, a CyberPower PC was nearing 4 years and the motherboard started dying. I'd just like to point out, another benefit of buying a desktop piece by piece and assembling it yourself (which is WAY easier than you think it would be, it takes like two hours if you're new to it) is that you'll generally get a warranty on each piece of the computer, and not just a warranty for everything combined. These will generally last MUCH longer and be way more convenient than just having one for the whole PC, because generally if something goes wrong with a prebuilt you have to ship the whole thing in. I had a power supply go bad a few months ago, but it was in warranty so I filed the warranty with the manufacturer, shipped the part out, and they gave me credit to go get a replacement model from a retail store (Best Buy in this case). I had it replaced in half a day. |

I still notice new things when I reread and I've literally read the series at least 8 times in full over the years (and that's not to mention the individual bits I've read to refresh myself on parts when people do playthroughs so I don't spoil things or things I just get curious about and look up). One of the more interesting things I've noticed is that the first two Episodes have a very different narrative 'voice' to them. More cynical. The rest of the Episodes don't have that, and tend to be more optimistic in how it narrates scenes and character actions. This is because, of course, Sayo is the one that wrote Episodes 1 and 2 and Battler wrote the rest, and the narrative is shaped by their own personal view points. There's more to it than that (I also really like how Ep1 and 2 portray the Ushiromiyas in generally a more positive light compared to the latter Episodes, which while they don't necessarily show them as being downright 'evil', Ep3+ generally tend to focus much more on their bad qualities), but I don't really want to write an essay on Sayo's characterization right now. Also I don't really think she was angry or trying to hold back anger in that scene. Or at least, not primarily. There probably was some. I think it is much more likely that it is heartbreak and feelings of self-deprecation she is trying to hold back there. A lot of Sayo's emotional issues are actually her hating herself, not hating the Ushiromiya's, and it's a large part of why she commits suicide at the end of the story. |

I felt route C started strong but by the end of it it got to the point where I just didn't really care anymore. And routes A and B were slow and kind of predictable. Original Nier had better characters and a better plot, was more engaging throughout, even if the gameplay wasn't great. |

To use Mecha terminology, Gundam series tend to be mostly 'real robot' series- focused on the military, war, soldiers and how it effects the characters and the world around it. Some political stuff sometimes, and everything while sci-fi leans towards trying to be at least somewhat 'believable' (though the extent to what it adheres to this varies on a case-by-case basis). G Gundam is straight up a 'super robot' show with Gundam designs. It doesn't try to use logic or anything and straight up goes with whats cool and flashy and a lot of things happen just because its awesome. It's a great series, though. |

You really do need to have seen the original for this one to have much of an impact though. 08th MS Team: Great, more serious and gritty Gundam. Very short. G Gundam: Incredibly fun but basically not a Gundam series. Gundam X: I'd put this one near the top of my list of Gundams period if it wasn't canceled toward the end of its run and thus had a rushed ending. It does still end pretty satisfyingly though. Turn A: One of the slowest and most character focused of all Gundams, but if you can get into or over its pacing it is really good. I probably wouldn't start with this one, however. Some things in it mean more if you've seen quite a few other Gundams beforehand. Gundam SEED: This one gets quite a bit of hate from the Gundam fanbase for various reasons, but IMO its quite good. I think most of the negativity just comes from association with its sequel, SEED Destiny, which you should basically forget exists because it is ACTUALLY awful. Gundam 00: Season 1 is phenomenal. Season 2 is still good but clearly went a bit off the rails. Overall I'd say its still watching through to completion. Iron Blooded Orphans: The most recent one and a very, very solid entry in the series. It's quite a bit darker than most others in the series and that comes with its own set of ups and downs. Some people found it not very satisfying in the end, but otherwise I think its one of the best in the franchise. Also I don't really recommend Wing. A lot of people started with it when they were kids and it was on Toonami and have a lot of fond memories of it, but having tried to rewatch it a few years ago, it does NOT hold up to those memories. It's about as close to angsty teen edgelord anime as you could get without crossing the line and it isn't very compelling compared to most of the rest. |

It's like a 'oh, THATS what that was' at the very end of the actual plot than a major plot twist or anything. So like, its a big reveal, but doesn't actually affect anything in the story which is largely not about that at all. The actual main plot isn't really spoiled in DDD. |

It just has a few problems that keep it from really breaking out into mainstream right now. First, its not affordable for the masses. It requires a really strong computer AND the VR set. So to even get started that's like a $600 investment if you have a good computer already and if you don't have one good enough, well that's another $1000 or more. Very, very steep for the average person. Second, it has no killer apps that are both exclusive and have mass appeal. It has a few that come close (RE7 though you can play that on non-VR, for instance), but until we get a full, 'core game' that appeals to hardcore gamers, its going to have a hard time really taking off. Third, this creates a feedback loop for developers. People won't buy the system because there are no core games on it, so developers can't justify spending the budget on one themselves. And because developers aren't willing to take the risk, people will continue to not buy the product, which in turn means the developers are even more inclined and justified to not put more money into it. This results in most games on the platform either being tech demos or shovelware. Anyway, this isn't really like 3D gaming or something in that people have lost interest. There is interest, its just that this first generation isn't accessible or sustainable. There's a few different ways out of it, some that would get everyone out of the situation sooner (for instance, a developer taking a huge risk and sinking a ton of money into a core game exclusive to VR that ends up being a killer app that becomes a platform seller) but the most likely course of action is, as said by other people in the topic, we're just going to have to wait while they improve the tech so that it can get cheaper. |

Setting aside the blatant teleporting which has been going on for awhile now, there were a ton of issues with this episode. Killing the white walker caused all of the wights to die except ONE? A band of like 6 fighters were able to hold off an entire army for longer than a few minutes at most even accounting for the bottleneck in the terrain? Dany just happened to know exactly where Jon is and went straight there? It was so bad that I couldn't ignore it this episode. It really harmed what was otherwise a good episode- all of the actual plot points were fine. |

| tcaz2 08/13/17 9:09:02 AM #325 | MuvLuv is absolutely excellent and I highly recommend it on the whole. With the caveat that the first one (MuvLuv Extra) isn't that good. It's a pretty generic RomCom with all that entails. It's not bad, really, just not that good. It's funny enough if you like the genre (and a lot of people do not) and has some okay drama moments, just nothing spectacular. It is, however, absolutely necessary to read it before Unlimited and Alternative. So if you decide to read it, bear in mind you have to go through like 12-20ish hours of that first (depending on how many routes you do- only 2 are necessary while the others are not, though they can add to stuff later on if you do them). Unlimited is a good step up (to where I'd say its 'really good' with a few moments of 'great') and Alternative is one of the best VNs ever though, and absolutely worth it in every way. |
