I might have an idea, but its a longshot. The key might be a move that Fletchling learns at level 29: Natural Gift. Thats the move that uses up a held berry to attack, and the choice of berry determines the moves type and base power. I did some research and found that my best option at this point in the game is the Persim berry, which makes Natural Gift a Ground-type move (super effective against Rock) with a base power of 80.

The problem is, because using Natural Gift uses up the berry, its essentially a once-per-battle move since I cant give Fletchling a new berry in the middle of the battle. So for each of the trainers in Grants gym, I have to figure out which of their Pokemon is the most dangerous, use Natural Gift on that one, and then pray that I can brute force the others with Return and potions for healing. Right now I have immediate access to 4 Persim berries (3 as a gift from a person in Cyllage City and 1 more daily pick-up from a berry tree on route 7) but that might not be enough for the whole gym. Thankfully, the berry fields are also located on route 7, so I can plant those 4 Persim berries and wait for more to grow.

Once the berries are grown (which should be tomorrow) and Fletching is level 29, Ill try taking on the gym again.
